I was watching Carrie last night, which is my favourite horror film. The more times I watch it the more I want to punch De Palma in the head because from the start of the prom on I think it's a perfect film. before the prom is a different story.

First of all take out that pointless fast forward scene. The entire segment isn't important to the plot just get rid of it.

Next the Score is incredible so get rid of that wonky music that was used when they are in detention and again in the pointless scene when the guys are trying out there tuxes. It doesn't go with the rest of the films tone.

I would also possibly spend a bit less time focusing on the bullies and a bit more time on Carrie.

Those are probably the main things. I understand that if you watch any film to many times somethings will start to bug you, never the less If De Palma just changed those two areas he would have about as close to a perfect film as you can get.

I love every minute of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," my favorite movie by far. If I could, however, change one thing, it would be those annoying close up's of Marilyn Burns' eyes during the final "dinner" scene. I've had friends over watching "TCM" and laughing hysterically at that scene because it was so silly. For me, it kinda ruins the overall tone and effectiveness of the final act.

Easy, Friday the 13th part 7. Love the film but that very ending kills me. It would have be a lot better if they were on the dock and Jason jumps out of water and grabs them, only for her to wake up (in the ambulance) being just a dream. Then you can cut to music and the cop finding the broken mask, etc...

*** I just realized (I made a mistake) that the original post said "your favorite film" I guess I would say Friday the 13 part 7 is not my favorite film , but a film I enjoy very much. On the favorite that I would change, I have to think about that.

Nothing Halloween in my opinion is perfect.

Although agree with baggio Part 7 uncut would rule.

I will agree that it's pointless, but it's light-hearted and fun and gives the viewer a break from all the seriousness. I like it.

It's a film about teenagers. Teenagers listen to pop music. Back then, that "wonky" music was popular. :D

I would also possibly spend a bit less time focusing on the bullies and a bit more time on Carrie.

I felt that there was equal time spent on both the bullies and Carrie. But that's just me.

Maybe I'm just picky. The original Dawn of the Dead and Carrie are my two favorite horror films of all-time and I happen to think they are perfect. I wouldn't change a thing, except for maybe the shot in Carrie with the "For Sale" sign beside the White house... makes it look like they are selling their house. :eek2:

Not a big fan of that film but for some reason neither would I.

Does anyone know where I can find that "Wonky" track from Carrie? It isn't on the soundtrack.

I think I'm the one who is picky. I don't think any Horror film is perfect, as there is always room for improvement. Actually I'll know when the perfect horror film comes out when I die of a hart attack while watching it:)

Your right though about Carrie. Even though I think there was room for improvement, it is still my favourite film because on the whole it works so well. The Overall product would probably suffer if you were to try to tinker with it.

I can't think of any ways that I would change NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. I guess I would like to see it a little wider in scope [showing more zombie attacks on different people,] but that would be too big a change and would basically mean turning it into a completely different movie.

The Exorcist is my favorite film, horror or not. I wouldn't change a thing in it but that spider walk scene in the new version was pretty damn good. Now if any changes just HAD to be done then putting the spider walk scene back into the original would be the only one I could see worth doing.

The Shining (1980) deserves the boiler building up pressure in the basement and the entire Overlook blowing up.

I COMPLETELY agee! I am a huge De Palma fan and CARRIE is one of his best, but he's never been very strong with comedy. Anyone recall Home Movies, Wise Guys or Bonfire of the Vanities? Didn't think so.

My favorite movie of all time is Hitchcock's VERTIGO. If I could change it, I wouldn't. However, this brings to mind a scene in THE BIRDS that drives me CRAZY every time I see it. When Tippi Hedren is in the restaurant looking out the window, a man tosses a match at the gas station where there's a gas leak. Tippi is given three shots, each one a bit different from the previous one and each one cut between with a shot of the fire getting closer to the gas pumps. (Is this making sense? If not, watch the movie and you'll see what I mean.) Each of Tippi's reaction shots is like a still shot but in each one the camera lingers a little bit too long, making her reaction seem EXTREMELY forced and phony. It really takes the viewer OUT of the movie and makes what should be an intense scene a laughable one. If I could change it, I would definitely cut each of Tippi's reaction shots by at least a few frames.

My favorite horror film is HALLOWEEN. I wouldn't change a thing. I think it's perfect as it is.

I liked the spider walk too....that was probably the only good part of THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN. All the rest was just overkill.

Ooh. I love that scene. Wouldn't change it at all. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: PSYCHO (1960): When Arbogast "runs" backwards down the stairs without a hint of imbalance. Makes me mad every time and totally takes me out of the experience. :( Otherwise, it's pretty much perfection in black and white.

My favorite is Dawn of the Dead '78. If I had the choice to change any of it I would make the blood a bit darker in tone. It almost has a cartoony red look to it. Aside form that......perfection. :)

I agree with you on that one. Even Savini has stated over the years that the blood looked "like melted crayons." I know DOTD was early in his career, but I can't believe he nor Romero didn't notice how fake the blood looked on set and didn't want to do something about it.

But otherwise.......kick ass movie:D

The Exorcist isn't my fave or anything but I have to echo that they need to have the spider walk scene included in any version of this film. I just love it.

My fave is Black Christmas and I wouldn't change anything in it.

DAWN is not my favorite, but better makeup would be an improvement--also more zombie extras! After viewing the movie a few times you can see a lot of shots where it's obvious that they don't have enough people to fill the parking lot.

Only minor stuff though...and I waver on the makeup--I don't know if DAWN would be quite the same without the "blue crew" of ghouls.

If I could redo the Opera, I would cut the "additional ending" in Switzerland. :)

That scene takes the movie up to 11, like Spinal Tap amps. I'd change friends. :p

I'd take all the "comedy" scenes from Last House On The Left.
I really cannot understand them at all - what is the need for comic relief?

Not my favorite horror film but one of them, the whole love subplot between caroline munro and joe spinell in Maniac...Completely unbelieveable there is no way a woman that looks like munro would give a guy that looks like joe the time of day. Also the ending with the manequins coming to life was way out of left field and not needed IMO.

I loved the mannequins at the end of Maniac. A creepy weird ending to a creepy weird man.

I'm with you Chaostar on the comic scenes in Last House they are completely out of place and bring the movie down a few notches.

You would be surprised, I've seen it more then a few times. I know it's hard to believe at times, but some women aren't that shallow.

If I could change one thing about Suspiria it would be to get rid of the bat scene. It just looks too fake.

BTW, Shithead, I agree about the Spinel-Monroe relationship in Maniac - maybe that was the comic relief? :) I do love the manniquin scene, though. It was just in his mind so I think that it symbolized his complete mental breakup and that he was no longer in touch with reality in the remotest sense. Now you made me want to watch it again!
