... The Weinstein Co. and Genius Products will release the British Christina Ricci-starrer THE GATHERING, lensed in 2002, on the 3rd (October). Directed by Brian Gilbert, the film stars Ricci as an American backpacker injured in a car accident in a rural English village. She’s taken in by the family of the woman who hit her and befriends her son (Stephen Dillane), who has been researching a recently unearthed 1st-century church; she soon begins having frightening visions involving the locals. Scripted by Anthony Horowitz, the author and screenwriter behind the upcoming youth actioner STORMBREAKER (which, no doubt completely coincidentally, will be a major Weinstein Co. theatrical release this fall), THE GATHERING will be presented in 16x9-enhanced 2.35:1 widescreen, and the disc will retail for $24.95; special features, if any, have yet to be annouced...

I'd say it's about time this film gets released on DVD in the U.S.!
I bought the R2 a few years ago. Interesting little horror/thriller.

I really like Ricci, so I'll check it out regardless of how bad it turns out to be. :)

good??

Ehhh, average at best. The entire plot was rather hard to believe and had many holes. I guess if you like "Christian" horror/suspense tales, you might like it. The ending was really corny though.

that's cool. I want to see hannibal. I was at block buster a few nights ago and it was under there exclusive titles. Then I saw it at two other indie stores with reg packaging. I guess that bb exclusives thing not working out?

I didn't care for it either; quite boring, actually. I used to love Ricci but she's been laying low lately. Whatever happened to that movie with Samuel L Jackson holding her captive in the swamp??? Now THAT looked good (even though she appeared malnourished in the trailer).

Black Snake Moan with Jackson, Ricci, and Timberlake somes out next month actually on March 2nd. I am not quite sure if it is much of a comedy though. There may be some dark comedy in there but it is more of a drama/romance about race, religion, and southern lifestyle and beleifs.
