Inferno all the way! Love it.
Inferno is a true classic, always climbing further and further up my Argento-favorites-list.
Phenomena is parts brilliant, parts much too long and slow-paced. I almost voted for it on account of such a strange film being made at all, but in the end Inferno takes the cake.

Phenomena was quite possibly the first Argento I ever saw. I was probably about 11 or something at the time. So it rightly holds a nostalgia spot for me.
But, I'll have to side with Inferno as the more solid film.

I love both, but I have to go with Inferno because it has a better score and those awesome Suspiria colors.
I'm choosing Inferno, but I do like Phenomena.... the monkey knocks it down a notch though!

Tough call, but I chose Inferno. Love the Mario Bava f/x near the end. The underwater scene is phenomenal too. 70's and 80's Argento movies are some of my absolute favorites, most of all: Suspiria!

inferno
Going with Phenomena here. It melds the giallo style of the earlier films and the supernatural elements of Suspiria and Inferno. There is a physical murderer here, yet you also have the insect communication and dream world elements.
Yeah, it drags on a little long, and I could do without the monkey. But two words give it an edge to me: "Jennifer" and "Connelly"

Um, I've seen Inferno but can't remember a lick of it. Haven't seen Phenomena. I feel like a jerk.
A bit off topic, but if this were a contest between the artwork of those two movies, Phenomena would blow Inferno out of the water. I think every single poster or design work I've seen for Phenomena was, ahemm, phenomenal! There's the poster above, then there's ...

Even the Creepers design was cool:

There are more but I couldn't find any good pics online ... But I love the artwork that was done for that film. Simply brilliant!

I love this one. Good finds. Phenomena is certainly an interesting film, but I don't feel like it ever comes together like Inferno. The latter has that magical underwater scene and gorgeous colors throughout. And it just feels more concise and structured.
