I'm all for a new Gamera as I love just about any kaiju. This one appears to be more geared towards children as opposed to the seriousness of the last 3. Regardless, I'll be getting the import.

Oh, if anyone didn't know, the last 3 Gameras released by ADV appear to be out of print. Might wanna get them soon if you don't have them yet as I don't know if anyone else has picked them up. They are some of the best kaiju yet as well.

I didn't know the R1 ADBV trilogy was OOP! I bought this real cheap a while back too! I love the 3rd one!

As for this, I DO wanna see it, but I'll wait for an R1 or R0!

For those who did not pick up the R3 disc, Media Blasters has recently acquired the U.S. rights to the film.

Great news indeed! I've been waiting for this to be released on R1.

Don't dismiss Gamera The Brave because of the kid-centric angle. It's very well done. I'm looking forward to the eventual R1 DVD, and I also hope MB considers picking up the '90s Gamera and '60s DaiMajin trilogies. I'm sure they'd improve on what ADV did with them.

Yeah, ADV really funked them up. They did a good re-master of the first Daimajin film (which I believe was just a port of the Japanese disc) and then went and screwed up the 2 sequels. They made them anamorphic but then cropped them. And the first 90's Gamera was just a video master too I believe, non-anamorphic.

I hope Gamera does well for them and they do pick up the 60's Gamera and 90's Gamera as well as the Daimajin films.

We've got a three pack of the Daimaijin films at work from ADV. Is this something to be avoided?

Not really...they're super fun films.

I mean is the quality really THAT bad? I noticed someone mentioned that the sequels are widescreen but edited... I didn't want to buy a slaughtered version of a movie.

If it is the one that comes in the multi-disc digipak-type case, they are non-anamorphic but are in the OAR. If it is the singles, the first film is great but the 2 sequels are cropped from 2.35 to 1.85.

I was talking about the set, not the individual releases.

Thanks! I'll check these out.
