View Full Version : My Bloody Contest

02-09-2007, 06:41 PM
Ah, valentines. A time for love. A time for reconciliation. A time for receiving a bloody heart in a box of chocolates at the laundromat. For most horror fans, the event is less about buying Hallmark cards and more about sitting down with those old horror movies you love, whether it be MY BLOODY VALENTINE, or HATCHET FOR A HONEYMOON. This year at HorrorDVDs.com, we want to give you give you that valentines gift of horror.

Thanks to a generous donation by our own MorallySound, we've got our next contest ready for you. And all you have to do is edit a picture. Like our previous contest, the rules are simple:

Take lovely box of chocolates from this iconic photo:

And insert it into another picture of your choice for comic effect. You could add text to it, or add more pictures to it - whatever you want. As long as you incorporate that bloody heart somewhere into the image.

Submit your picture to this thread as a thread attachment. Please DO NOT submit it as a link from Photobucket or Imageshack. We want to preserve thsese submissions in the future, so all content needs to be stored on our server for safe keeping. I know people aren't going to read this and do it anyway, but when they do post, rib them a little for me, please. If you don't know how to add attachments, look for the "Manage Attachments" button under your posting box, or just message me.

EXTENDED: The cut off for submissions will be Wednesday, February 14th at midnight.

After all submissions are accounted for, they will be put into a thread where all registered members get to vote. The winners will then be picked on bloody valentine's day, and we'll work with you from there.

One submission per person. Pictures incorporating Franco are strongly encouraged.

Okay, now here's what you're playing for!

1st Place Prize:

The Killer Shrews/I Bury the Living DVD, Anatomy of a Psycho/Hatchet for the Honeymoon DVD, Tormented/Lady Frankenstein DVD, and Nightmare Castle DVD.

2nd Place Prize:

Nigtmare Castle DVD, Bela Lugosi 3-Pack DVD.

3rd Place Prize:

Good luck to all...let's have some fun!

 I love how the miner's expression isn't all that far removed from Jude Law's beside him. Nice.

I reserve the right to add text or slightly edit this. I just want to get it up in case anyone else has a similar idea.

Nice one Luna! Nasty as well. :nervous:

You're too damn good at these Luna, we need to handicap you somehow.;)
Nice one.

I wasn't gonna enter actually, but I saw the contest only had like two entries two days into it with three prizes, so y'know...

Where the hell are the other entries? This heart has so much funny potential. You guys are nuts for passing on this one.

Great entries so far, but man, Luna, that is really funny.

I don't how Luna does it. I was even distracting her with my inane sleep-chatting yesterday, and she still manages to come up with a classic image that I will be taking to my grave one day.

Along with the usual great blending, I especially love how Luna chose to keep the blood smears off of the woman's clothing and face, showcasing the truly stealth moves and the startling precision of a master heartbreaker employing her craft.

This is for US and Canada residents only, isn't it? If not, then I might try and do something. Not that I think I have a chance against "Will You Marry Me?"

I also love bwana's "I Heart Huckabees" :D

02-12-2007, 01:34 PM
Well, it's obvious you are all winners to some degree. Congrats!

02-12-2007, 01:40 PM
Some good ones here. I think we already have a winner though. :D

Well done everyone, special kudos to the Queen. ;)

The deadline for submissions has come and gone (twice!). Thanks for all who entered. I was worried after only three submissions that we had lost the Horrordvds magic, but once again, the forum members pulled through to make this another memorable one for the books. The contest will be up tomorrow!
