From director Rick Sloane comes this slasher-comedy with supernatural elements starring Mary Woronov: movie theater chain "Spotlite" is opening a new theater that's supposed to be haunted. The spirit (I think) of a former usher is walking the aisles killing employees on opening night ...

The comedy is not funny and there are no scary moments whatsoever. The only good thing about Movie House Massacre is Mary Woronov giving solid performance as usual. Still, a rather dull affair. MMM is available on DVD in this set released by RetroMedia:

I kind of liked the film. You should try Invasion Earth:The Aliens Are Here. It is better but kind of the same format.

This is in the top 5-10 worst slashers ever for me.I hate it.

That video box freaked me out as a kid, check out the look on the killers face! Right up there with H.G.Lewis' video boxes. The movie does suck, but I love it. I approximate..."Welcome to Spot Light Theatre, where the popcorn is always popping"

I'm starting to think Rick Sloane is one of the most overrated bad directors ever ... ok, the first Vice Academy was fun - in a very no-budget sort of way, and I do have a soft spot for Hobgoblins.
Vice Academy 2 & 3 sucked pretty much though. Movie House Massacre was bad/dull but still better than VA 2 & VA3. I have yet to see the rest of Sloane's work but I'm not really sure if I should bother ...

I just looked it up and it sounds promising :D
I don't think it's on DVD though?
