I voted Friday I, mainly becase I feel it had a taste of 2 classics Psycho (the music, the deranged mother) & Halloween (psychopathic killer) along with its own style & originality...in the woods, horny teenagers, miles from anywhere!.....

I voted for Final Chapter (again).

I got a least-favorite-F13 poll going somewhere, Dark Lord, if you want to check it out, too. (Not to toot my own horn, just thought you might like to see...)

It really is a toss up for me between the first four films. I think Jason is a much scarier killer than Ms. Palmer, but the first film did start it all, so it does have the benefit of being somewhat original. The ending of the first is by far the best of the series as well.

But with that, the beginning of the second film is leaps and bounds better than all the others, and is definitely one of the best in all horror films. The second film also effectively setup the whole campfire legend idea so very well too.

The third film keeps things fresh with the 3D aspect, and I think it would get a lot more respect if people could see it in the third dimension in theatres again. The wider aspect ratio also adds to the film, and makes it more suspenseful and gives it higher production values. It also introduces the precious mask, and the actors are often so bad that they raise the enjoyment level of the film.

The Final Chapter is, as stated a hundred times before, the perfect party movie. It perfectly blends 80's camp, comedy and good ol' fashioned gore. Little Corey Feldmen is always fun to watch and provides the viewer with a good alternative to all those horny teens.

I really enjoy rambling on about the Friday films :) But basically it is a toss up between the first four films, and since I always give Part 4 respect, I thought Part 2 deserves a little credit for being the darkest in the series!

I like Part 2 the best...from the eiree start in the rain, right back to those unforgiving woods! Jason is mean and scary in this one...i like the way you can just make out one eye with that sheet over his head too....its the first movie i saw in the franchise and still remains my favorite!

The first one, because Jason's mom is totally creepy. I sometimes wish we'd seen her do some of the kills, but then the surprise-ending wouldn't be a surprise of course. I also like Jason's dirty sheet in part 2, but aren't they overdoing it with that hockey mask ?. I know it's his trademark and everything, and I'm sure they wouldn't dare change it (wimps !), but a little variety would be welcome. What is that mask:cool: to him anyway ?. Viagra:D?. Is he a pussy:p without it ?.

I guess when fans become accustomed to a certain look it is impossible to change it. If jason were to start wearing an umpire's mask it wouldn't be nearly as scary, and more importantly he just wont be the same character. The sack in Part 2 was right out of The Town That Dreaded Sundown, so Jason needed to get something for his own! I think the mask is classic, and I hope they don't alter it too much for Uber Jason in Jason X.

New Blood kicked ass cause that chick had cool powers. You could tell Jason had no clue how to fight her during their showdown on the dirt road....

Hands down, Part 2!

For me, it is the only one that even tries to scare you. From Part 3 on the series was tongue and cheek cheesy fun.

The 1st one was serious but not a classic like Halloween.

The 2nd one, is awesome and has so much creepy stuff in it that it makes it one of the best slashers ever made, yeah I know that's not saying much ;)

A New Beginning all the way! It finally surpassed the fourth film for me.

*CONTAINS SPOILERS*

I love the halfway house setting. Its a unique idea, and I think it works well. I also think the area the film was shot in is one of the more atmospheric of the series. It helps to make this film the creepiest of all the F13 films, and yes, I firmly do think it's the creepiest. This is also probably the most offbeat film in the series too, and I like that. The characters are great. From the quirky halfway house residents to the crazed backwoods hicks, this film's characters are very entertaining, and on many occasions, quite amusing. Especially the hicks. I also like the direction they took Tommy's character in, having all those mental problems thanks to Mr. Voorhees. His hallucinations are nice and eerie too. It's a shame they didn't really continue the idea in Jason Lives.

I think the kills in this film are some of the most original kills in the series, not to mention some of the best. A leather strap crushing someone's head against a tree, a road flare to the mouth, a cleaver decapition while riding a motorcycle, among others, aren't your typical slasher kills. I also love the fact that the killer is copycat, Roy. It's a nice, refreshing take, and I love Roy every bit as much as I love Jason. I always see people whine about Jason not being the killer here, but I say its better that way. I think having chocolate bar boy be his son was a nice twist. Funny how he kills everyone but his son's killer, but I'm sure he couldn't get to him with the authorities taking him into custody. That's nice and ironic.

I could go on and on about how enjoyable this film is. It has a real charm to it, and it's a shame that so many consider it one of the low points of the series, even the worst. I was disappointed to see this film on the IMDB bottom 100 a few months back, especially considering the horrid Jason Takes Manhattan was nowhere to be found on the list. It's no longer on the list though, so that's cool.

I also love the fifth a lot Cujo, but I had to vote for my fave : The Final Chapter. I do think that five gets dissed a lot and really doesn't deserve it. The kills are cool and the body count is the highest of the series. It's a nice change of pace from the regular friday stuff.

A NEW BEGINNING IS THE BEST EVER!!

some more notable favorites: parts: 3-7 (all great slashers)

the classic first 2 I hold at different levels, they aren't enjoyed as much as the others by me cause I grew up with hockey mask Jason!

This is easy for me, Part 2 is by far my favorite of the series. As much as I love Mrs. Voorhees, Jason rocks and I think he's the scariest in this one.

The one scene that always gets me in this film is when Amy Steel is going after Jason with the chainsaw. I love the fact that Jason actually shows some fear in that scene. I like my villians when they're not indestructable and can actually be hurt. Zombie Jason is cool and all but I'll take human Jason any day of the week.

Parts I-IV are the best, but Part 2 is the cream of the crop, IMO.

Real tough call here, as I love all of them up until 8 and beyond, although Freddy and Jason was passable. I would have to go with 2, even though it was hit hard by the censors. It is atmospherically the best by far and scariest. Running very closely behind would be 4. I would go in this order:
2, 4, 1, 6, 3, 5, 7, 8, Freddy vs. Jason, 9, Jason X. I don't really consider anything after 8 to be a real sequel though, and 8 only qualifies by the thinnest of threads.

Not that it's happening in this thread, but I'm surprised by how often I've seen the third film get bashed over the years. I think it's right up there with A New Beginning and The Final Chapter as the best films of the series.

Part 3-3D is great, IMO. Richard Brooker makes a great Jason.

okay i think we have had this question many times now <:- I love parts 1-4 and part 6- the rest i feel is total crap- I think part 2 is probably my fave with part 1 and part 4 being very close- part 3 is where jason first gets his mask and is a fun movie too although being made for 3D kinda ruins it at parts for dvd now- I felt if it had ended at part 4 that would have been great for this series- but i must admit i do enjoy part 6 but hated everything after that

Totally agree. I went with Part 2. It scared the bejesus out of me and was the first of the series I ever saw. I then saw the first, so unfortunately the shocker ending was ruined, but still loved it and thought it was atmospheric and creepy as hell. Loved Part 3 but could never understand how Jason went from backwoods hick with a head of scraggly hair to a bald NFL linebacker overnight - and how the hell did his shoulder heal? Did he stop to visit Benny Hinn? Despite its flaws, Part 3 was the series finale IMO. As much as I enjoyed some of the later films, either the supernatural element or some other ridiculous misstep always seemed to get in the way for me:

Part 4 - Corey Feldman = unacceptable: annyoing child actor turned annoying out of work adult - every time this kid was on screen, I wanted Jason to walk in and do what he does best. Ripping off Part 2 with, "Remember, Jason?" was what really killed this movie for me - Ginny was a child psych major so it would make sense that she'd throw on that sweater, but Tommy was just a geek who would have no reason to think that shaving his head would save the day.

Part 5 - Perhaps if this had not been a Friday movie, I would have enjoyed it more.

Part 6 - Stylish, fun, and a great mix of humor and horror, but those damned Georgia woods just didn't quite LOOK the part of Crystal Lake

Part 7 - Jason meets Carrie White? Interesting . . . When was this filmed? January? Why are these kids renting a lake house and sunbathing when all the trees are bare?

Part 8 - Should have been a musical a la Sweeney Todd

Part 9 - Was done so much better in The Hidden

Part 10 - No thanks. I'll take B-9 and Dr. Smith any day over this garbage.

Part 11 - Not bad, but that CGI pinball scene . . . ugh - and who the hell was that woman posing as Betsy Palmer?

PART 4 without a doubt. It was my introduction to the series and I have been hooked ever since...even the worst are watchable for me (sometimes). Watched FINAL CHAPTER a total of 13 times in that first weekend just for kicks. Ah, 6th grade!!!

I love parts 1 and 4 the best but I also love parts 2 and 3 as well. 5 is good,I liked it but after that I started to lose interest in the series. 6 and 7 remain o.k. but 8 and 10 were dreadful and 9 was the worst in the series. Freddy v.s. Jason got me enjoying Jason again after parts 8,9 and 10.
