Unless the thread title for it is completely vague and hidden, I can't find (nor believe) that a discussion hasn't been threaded for this one yet. If someone knows of the other thread, please pm me for hyde's home number, and be sure to call him in the early morning hours to merge said threads. Thanks.

Britain has been emptied. There's nobody there. It's completely dead. And six months later the Americans arrive to reboot it back up again. But, of course, something goes wrong... (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0463854/)

With the absence of Danny Boyle, I'm a little apprehensive about this one. I haven't heard a thing about any of those writers who are attatched to it either. And when you got four different names credited as writers for the screenplay, thats usually a bad sign. While I'm a Robert Carlyle fan, I'm going to have to wait for a review before I make a decision on seeing it in the theaters or not. I heard that a trailer for this is played before "The Hills Have Eyes 2."

The no Danny Boyle thing is killing my excitement for this one but I'm sure I'll rent it or something.

Well, Boyle is executive producer on the sequel and he says that the story for the sequel has a very good idea to it. And I heard Naomie Harris was asked about the sequel while doing press for Miami Vice and she said she was open to coming back, if the producers asked her. Or either she started filming Pirates of the Caribbean 3 or the producers never called her back.

It seems very promising even without the same director or stars on board. And it has Catherine McCormack and Rose Byrne in addition to Robert Cartyle, so it does have a good cast. And the poster is just kickass, in the style of the first, I might add.

So now they're remaking Land Of The Dead?

So now they're remaking Land Of The Dead?

I don't see any specific similarity to Land of the Dead, but maybe I'm missing something.

Since some of you guys have seen "The Hills Have Eyes 2", can any of you give a detailed description of the trailer? I saw the teaser footage from the actual trailer on the Fox Atomic website, and my interest was piqued.

I just didn't harbor a desire to go see THHE 2, that's all. Haven't seen the remake of the first film either, but will eventually.

I also heard that the first draft of the sequel was written by Rowan Joffe and rewritten by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and his friends Jesus Olmo and Enrique Lopez-Lavigne, when Fresnadillo signed on to direct the film. Also, can anyone confirm if John Murphy is scoring the sequel too?

Saw the trailer today -- didn't have to go see it at THHE 2 showing -- and it actually looks pretty good. Although I'm confused as to how the virus spreads again -- is it by air now? It would make sense if that woman who's exposed to the virus (but not directly infected) and a problem with the air conditioning system accidentally vents the used air into the quarantined area.

And it looks to be R-rated like the first. Good on Fox Atomic.

The absence of Boyle doesn't matter much to me when his replacement is the awesome Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Any of you see Intacto? JCF has a great eye and can create tension amazingly well.

There's some uncut footage from "28 Weeks Later" available on the official Fox Atomic website (registration is free and you have to verify your age in order to view these scenes), and there are 2 available now. The first is a "training montage" and the second is "Infected attack".

The first one is just a useless montage, but the second bit of footage is excellent and consistent with the 28 minute preview Coming Soon! got (meaning it's from the beginning of the movie). It's a couple of minutes long, where Robert Cartyle and Catherine McCormack are shacked up with a family during the initial outbreak (before the virus is spread again), and the Infected raid the house (in broad daylight, no less!). The scene rivals the final attack in the mansion in 28 Days Later in terms of intensity and ferocity.

My expectations are getting higher for this film. I hope the final product is really good.

Finally caught Intacto the other night and it was really good. I'm definitely looking forward to 28 Weeks Later.

The U.S. one sheet looks awesome. And the one-sheet definitely confirms the R-rating. It's rated R for "strong violence and gore, language and some sexuality/nudity".

It doesn't say anything about how long it is, though. I expect we'll know in the coming weeks.

Someone posted the basic plot of 28 Weeks Later up, but doesn't reveal what happens at the end. SPOILERS AHEAD, so highlight the space below if you want to know the intricacies of the plot:

It is 2003, seven months (twenty-eight weeks) after the last Infected died of starvation and the U.S. Army, commanded by General Stone (Idris Elba), takes control of the now-lifeless London, quarantines the city into separate "District" areas (London City itself being no.1 and the rest of the London area undergoing sterilisation). After many weeks of work, the city is declared fit for habitation and the first group of British survivors from the European refugee camps arrives at Heathrow Airport under U.S. guard. One specific family, child siblings Tamsin and Danny, are reunited with their father, Don (Robert Carlyle), who was stranded in Britain during the original outbreak of the Rage Virus. He was narrowly rescued by U.S. Army led by Sergeant Doyle (Jeremy Renner) while fleeing his country village, pursued by a massive group of dying Infected.

Tammy and Andy learn from their father that their mother didn't survive the Infected attack on their village. The family nevertheless tries to push on and they, along with other refugees, are herded into temporary safezones in sealed apartment blocks (until the U.S. soldiers declare individual homes and houses fit for habitation).

Meanwhile, a lone survivor, Alice (Catherine McCormack), makes her way to the security zone and is quarantined by Stone and Doctor Ross when it is discovered during invasive medical checks upon entry that she shows signs of Rage contamination. Stone and Ross agree to keep her in quarantine at their headquarters to prevent London's population being infected with Rage again, but disagree on what to do with Alice, with Stone wanting her killed and Ross wanting her to live as she could provide a basis for an antibody against Rage if she's immune. Professor Westmoreland insists that she's not infected at all as the last Infected have since died, but Ross points out Westmoreland only arrived recently and wasn't present during the original outbreak of Rage. Stone relutantly allows the tests to proceed, but instructs Alice's guards to kill her if she turns into an Infected for fear of using their fallback protocol, "Code Red", where explosive devices set under London will explode, killing all life but protecting the civilians in their protective apartment blocks.

Ross and Alice talk in quarantine (Alice is restrained and has armed guards inside and outside her cell) and her history is revealed; Alice is Don's wife and the mother of Tamsin and Danny. During the original outbreak of Rage (when their children were evacuated), an Infected boy broke into their house in the middle of the night and bit Alice on the arm while Don escaped. Alice killed the Infected and realised she would turn into an Infected herself - but she didn't, and she remains unaware why. When Ross mentions that she saw Danny and Tamsin entering the city (as she personally oversaw all medical checks upon the refugees entry into the quarantine zone), Alice demands to see her children.

Ross, Westmoreland and Stone meet and Ross confesses that Alice is a carrier of the Rage virus. As a result, she will eventually turn into an Infected. It is only a matter of time.

Ross brings the kids and Don to the headquarters, where they exchange a tearful goodbye and are rushed outside just as Alice turns into an Infected. The guards promptly shoot her dead; but not before she infects one of the soldiers, who spreads it to others and re-ignites the infection. Don and the kids narrowly escape with their lives.

The small group of Infected breach the headquarters internal quarantine and begin infecting civilians on the streets. Though most survivors are still in the safe zones, Stone declares "Execute: Code Red" and attack planes begin launching attacks on the city.

Sounds plausible enough to me...
