DVD Drive-In reports some new releases from Dark Sky:
Unflinchingly horrific and unapologetically downbeat, Narciso Ibáñez Serrador’s WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? was heavily censored for its American release as ISLAND OF THE DAMNED. One June 26, Dark Sky Films will release the complete film, uncut and uncensored, for its long overdue American DVD debut. Also on June 26, Dark Sky will unleash a grindouse-type “Drive-In Double Feature” of SEARCH AND DESTROY/THE GLOVE, as well Antonio Margheriti’s action war opus THE LAST HUNTER.

It was pulled because they found superior elements at the last moment and decided to start from scratch.

From DVD Drive-In:
On November 20, Dark Sky Films will be releasing Curtis Harrington’s THE KILLING KIND on DVD in an uncut, uncensored collector’s edition. Paroled from prison, sex offender Terry (John) returns to the Hollywood boarding house of his mother Thelma (screen legend Ann Sothern), a former dancer with unwholesome ideas about tender loving care. Escaping Thelma’s suffocating attentions by peeping on pretty tenant Lori (Cindy Williams), Terry is unaware that he is being spied on by a neighbor (Luana Anders) who keeps a place in her own fantasies for someone of Terry’s special talents. Meanwhile, terrible things are happening to anyone who has ever done Terry wrong, from the judge (Ruth Roman) who sentenced him to the girl (Sue Bernard, of FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL!) whose testimony put him behind bars. The disc will include the last on-camera interview the late director Curtis Harrington.

Figures that The Centerfold Girls is announced for DVD after I just paid upwards of $20 for the VHS on Ebay a few months back. Regardless, this is great news. 70's exploitation doesn't come any better. That film is gold.

"At 42 minutes and 41 seconds the dvd is missing a brief scene where Goose attempts to kick one of the guys at the bar. This scene is contained in the out of print video tape release." - http://www.midnight1.com/dvd.asp
In the grand scheme of things that's hardly worth getting riled up about, but hopefully Dark Sky will restore it for their release.

Actually I've never seen any of these upcoming releases, but I plan on checking all of them out. I'll probably rent some of them first from Netflix and some are "blind buy" worthy to me. The one I'm interested in seeing the most is Simon: King of the Witches.
Tragic Ceremony and Ricco The Mean Machine are being released on 1/29/08 as per Amazon.

Both of the documentaries were already released on The Manson Family SE. It sounds like the two releases have just been repackaged with the addition of a few short films on a separate disc. I'll be picking it up because I'm a Van Bebber fan, but I'm hoping for a few more extras.

Thanks for your message. We will be releasing the entire Jim VanBebber

The Last Days of John Martin, Doper, Kata, and Into the Black. Also, our
version of Deadbeat At Dawn is a new high-definition transfer. There
will be plenty of extras included on it, too.

DVD Drive-In:
On September 30, Dark Sky Films will release another edition of their “Drive-In Double Feature” series with BARRACUDA/ISLAND FURY. In BARRACUDA, a seaside town is home to upstanding citizens, good ol' fashioned southern hospitality and a deadly rash of barracuda attacks! Another exploitation piece released in the wake of JAWS, the film stars William Kerwin (BLOOD FEAST) and Jason Evers (THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN’T DIE). ISLAND FURY has two young women discovering a cache of mob money as well as a clan of bloodthirsty cannibals who pick off vacationers one by one! Also more notoriously known as “Please Don't Eat the Babies,” this strange shocker was one of the last horror films from independent producer Mardi Rustam (EATEN ALIVE, EVILS OF THE NIGHT). The double feature disc will retail for $14.98.

I'd have to say Barracuda is a mixture of both. It tries to emulate jaws from start to finish. It's been forever sense I've seen it. I saw it around 1991 on USA up all night. I was about 6 at the time. I'm sure you will enjoy it. One thing I can honestly say is Barracuda does not suck. It's a very enjoyable piece of moldy cheese.

Just watched The Glove/Search and Destroy yesterday. I grabbed this because I really wanted to see The Glove again. The last time I saw it I was probably 12 years old in St. Thomas with my folks. Late night it was on TV and my brother and I were psyched to finally watch some "normal" programming. Well, it was not as great as I remembered it, but still has some entertainment value. I thought Search and Destroy was pretty bad.
