View Full Version : Which Grindhouse trailer was best?

Three's a charm, so here's the last of the Grindhouse questionnaires. Everyone was talking about the trailers in the other threads (and with good reason), so pick your favorite here. Werewolves, turkeys, hobos, machetes or good old fashioned contractions...you decide. If you plan on discussing the feature films...DON'T. You can do that here:

Thanksgiving for me. However, Machete was badass and I hope it does turn into a film.

I chose Thanksgiving. I didn't have the Hobo trailer at my theatre, though I've seen it online.

could you provide a link for the Hobo trailer. My theater didn't show it either.

Apparently only shown in Canadian theatres.

Even though I'd already seen it, Machete was still my favorite. Don't was a close second. I need to see it again to really appreciate it (I'm going for a repeat viewing Tuesday night).

Rob Zombie proved he can even screw up a 90 second trailer as well as he can screw up a 90 minute movie. Easily the worst of the bunch.

Thanksgiving was a bit 80ish, but I still really liked it.

Loved all but it was a toss between "Thanksgiving" and "Don't". Voted for the underdog "Don't" :)

1. Thanksgiving
2. Hobo with a Shotgun
3. Don't
4. Werewolf Women of the S.S.
5. Machete

Although my favorite moment was in Werewolf Women of the S.S., the best trailer to me was Machete by far. After all, he gets the ladies...

I loved them all though and thought their differences represented the Grindhouse genre pretty well.

Loved Werewolf Women, but Don't cracked me up all the way through. Especially the voice at the end:

Don't

Very hard to pick....I think I liked MACHETE best overall, and THANKSGIVING the best of the intermission trailers, but it's almost tied with DON'T.

WEREWOLF WOMEN was fun, but Zombie's wife screwed it up.

I enjoyed all except Zombie's (and that one had a great concept, I just thought the execution was lacking). And Thanksgiving was really great, which shocked me since I despise most of Roth's work.

But my vote is Machete all the way. "They just fu__ed with the wrong Mexican!" In a just world Danny Trejo would be a star and Freddie Prinze Junior would work at McDonald's.

Machete! :fire: Everything I could possibly want in a trailer and more! Danny Trejo rules all and Cheech Marin deserves the best supporting actor nod in the world of Trailer Oscars.

I expected more from Werewolf Women. Had no idea the trailer would be so fleeting. Was this heavily cut?

Had so much fun watching the trailers. :D :glasses:

I loved all of them to be honest, but voted for Thanksgiving. I felt like I was in the theater back in the early 80's watching a preview for a new slasher film. Felt great.

I can't believe I forgot about that line! That one had everyone cracking up in the theater where I saw the movie.

Loved them all, but I voted Don't, Thanksgiving was a close 2nd. If you think your going to leave the theater alone, DON'T.

Machete for me...if they make a sequel, they HAVE to make this into a full-length.

DON'T, but all of the trailers were great (with exception of Werewolf Women which I found rather disappointing).

I don't know how well it played on the big screen, but that Hobo With a Shotgun trailer was kinda mediocre. A lot of it looked VERY modern and current. But I dug the voiceover, especially when he really gets into it...."HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN!!!!!!!!!!!"

1. Thanksgiving
2. Hobo with a Shotgun
3. Don't
4. Werewolf Women of the S.S.
5. Machete

Same order for me.

loved MACHETE and THANKSGIVING but DON'T had me laughing the whole way through.DON'T see this movie...... my favorite line in MACHETE was "Where are my wife and daughter?" by Jeff Fahey, followed by the vastly under appreciated Danny Trejo in a threesome with said women, "He gets the girls."

Don't!

Though I must say, even though I knew it was coming, Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu literally had me laughing my ass off for about 5 minutes straight. Jesus God it was brilliant, in an otherwise mediocre trailer.

1. Thanksgiving
3. Don't
4. Machete
5. Werewolf Women Of The SS

That's my list. Didn't get Hobo in the States but I saw it on YouTube. Thought it was alright...

What about Santa beating off to the "playground". That was the gutsiest moment in GRINDHOUSE, IMO.

I really loved them all. They all worked to do what they accomplished. If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be Thanksgiving. I loved the feel and Eli got it right on all counts!! Classic slasher trailer feel!

I'm torn between MACHETE and DON'T.I know I would pay to see either of those if they were real films.MACHETE's "they f***ed with the wrong Mexican" line just destroyed me.DON'T was so much like a vintage import trailer though that it really sucked me in.Anybody notice how much the first shot looked like THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE ? So much happens in that trailer you really need to see it frame by frame to catch all of the references. The fact that after all of the hard sell repetition of "DON'T !" in the trailer it ended with a completely different voiceover guy just casually saying "Don't" was the perfect final touch.

I voted Thanksgiving. I'd love to see a feature length of this one, even if it is directed by Roth.

Werewolves was an otherwise worthless effort, made worthwhile by Cage's appearance. Rob needs a new casting director, badly.

I didn't get to see Hobo in my theatre, I really wanted to see that one on the big screen. Heck, they should have snagged about 5 or 6 of the best entries to the SXSW festival, and play them with the credits.

I really liked Don't! Exagerrated, quick paced, and felt like trailers of old...Thanksgiving was definitely runner up.

lol Werefolf women for sure!

Combined both Isla and Werewolves on wheels so well. It looked so dammed slimy as well, like those icky Euro nazi films of the 80's.

Thanksgiving!!!! (Can't vote for Hobo, wasn't in the theater, otherwise I would have)
Hasn't Rob Zombie proved once and for all that he is a huge HACK. He can't even get a faux trailer right! bad, bad direction (great concept)

Thanksgiving! I was laughing so freaking hard during that trailer - great sick humor- although my vote isnt totally fair- I missed Don't and Hobo with a shotgun and was on my way to the restroom so only saw a very small bit of Werewolf Women of the SS- which is why i cant wait for the dvd so i can see the ones i missed
