Well, a first for me tomorrow night. An 11pm screening of "City of the Living Dead" in one of the coolest cinemas in town, The Mayfair. I have the DVD but it's been years since I've watched it (and only once). Looking forward to a revisit.

Who's seen Fulci in cinemas? I'm betting some of you caught "The Beyond" in that revival Tarantino orchestrated.

I rented a local theater and screened The Beyond a few years ago in Burlington, Vermont along with Evil Dead at a midnight showing. Response was huge, got a write up and review on Fangoria's site. I was amazed at the difference in impact of both films on the big screen (had only seen at home before that) So much more over the top and gory than at home. Loved it! (a ton of people left during The Beyond - too much for 'em?)

I saw Fulci's Zombie in a movie theatre three years ago. It was a nice print and a blast to see on the big screen despite too many ignorant hecklers in the audience (I was still living in small town Pennsylvania at the time).

Last year at Halloween, The Castro Theatre in San Francisco showed a double feature of The Beyond along with the Christopher George movie Pieces. Regret not being able to attend. It was a Monday night and we couldn't make it.

I've seen Zombi 2 and The Beyond in theaters.

What was especially great about The Beyond was that it was the first time I saw it at all. We sat in the middle of the theater and in front of us were some gore hounds who were very familiar with the movie and behind us were cinema fans who were also very familiar with the movie. So I'd get to hear all the goofs and plot holes from the guys in front of us and all the symbolism and film techniques from the guys behind us. Sorry Fulci fans but, I sided with the guys in front of us. ;)

Zombi 2 there were some jackasses trying to MST3k it at the beginning (I like to leave that to the pro's), but once they got to the island the theater got much more quite. What might have helped silence the naysayers was my very drunk friend screaming praise of the film during the second half, calling Fulci a genius every five minutes. Good times.

I saw Zombie in the theater. I saw City of the Living Dead (billed as "The Gates of Hell") at the drive-in. Those are the only 2 I've seen theatrically.

Saw New York Ripper, Beyond, House by the Cemetary.
They screen them almost every summer here. The prints are battered of course, but that's the way I like'em!

This idea has been bouncing around my head for several months now. Send me a PM and give me an idea of how U went about this. NOBODY around this area does this EVER!!! I wouldn't mind being the first. Given the HUGE reponse the Bruce Campbell signing and screening of Man With The Screaming Brain went last year.

NYR on the big screen would blow my fragile little mind. :blabla:

I would have done that.

Unfortunately, I've never seen any Fulci films in the theater but I would love to. I'm sure they are ten times better on the big screen!!

I've Seen Zombie, Gates of Hell (City), and House By The Cemetery at my local drive-in back in the 80's.

ZOMBIE:
*Sept. 1981 as part of a triple bill. I do recall the movie having no skips and it looked nice and glossy especially the Island scenes.
*1983 co-featured with GATES OF HELL. Scratched, skipped and static soundtrack. Still fun flick~!
GATES OF HELL
*1983 on a bill with ZOMBIE. Glossy, professional looking in my eyes (I was getting wary of foreign horror at the time) with a packed theater. Good times!
THE BEYOND:
*1998 remastered release at Midnight in the summer at the Castro theater. I didn't miss a showing, either! The first night I won two tickets, a poster and an eyeball with the title on it from a local paper. The question to win was, "What was the name of the Island in ZOMBIE?". I gave them the name...spelled a few different ways and WON!!!!
