There are tons of movies out there that have yet to be released on dvd. there are also some that have nothin on em accept a trailer.

what top 5 dvds would u like top see made that havent been put on dvd yet?(Im talking about region 1...no other regions)
for me my top 5 are...
1. Return of the Living Dead
2. From Beyond
3. Nightbreed
4. Basketcase series
5. The Dead Next Door

What top 5 movies would you like to see get a better treatment that are already out?
(for me this list could go on forever)
1. Evil Dead(hopefully anchorbays upcoming re-release is good)
2. Bad Taste
3. Dead Alive
4. Poltergeist
5. The frighteners

what top 5 movies need a wider release? like films that are out but are impossible to find.
1. Re-animator(hopefully anchor bays version is easy to find with all the extras that elites version had)
2. nekromantik(this dvd looks awesome. but once again...cant find it anywhere)
3. Cannibal Ferox
4. texas chainsaw massacre
5. any synapse film. i was lucky to find brain damaghe however)
There are still films that are coming out and i cant find em. like the new nosferatu dvd. it may b also cuz i live in canada and we suck for getting things in.

if anyone has any news on some of these titles being released or whatever.please share.thankyou
-mike

I'm new to this whole DVD craze. What's the deal with different regions? Can someone explain?

What's wrong with Elite's Special Edition DVD of The Evil Dead? I'm not sure how Anchor Bay can top it unless they can include Within the Woods AND license out all of Elite's extras.

The reason for region coding is because films are owned often in different countries by different companies. For instance, Paramount owns the American rights to Titanic, but Fox has the international rights and can distribute it on VHS, DVD, etc as it pleases. Another example is Warner, which owns a number of Disney films in Europe. And here's the problem - suppose Paramount piut together a totally-ass kicking DVD edition of Titanic, with great quality and lots of extras, and suppose that Fox's release is of lesser quality, with few or no extras. What will end up happening is that people in Europe, Japan, etc., will end up importing the Paramount disc and Fox will lose money. So, what happens is that the companies will encode the discs with a region (USA is Region 1). A player will check to see what region the disc has been encoded with, and if it conflicts, it won't play the disc. You can, of course, also buy DVD players that do not perform the region check, and some of the smaller companies make their DVDs compatible with all regions.

Essentially, region coding is an annoying piece of bull that has prevented many people (like me) who didn't get a region-free player from enjoying DVDs from other countries. If you don't have a region-free player, there are usually ways to crack it, but still, it's a bloody nuisance.

What kind of extras do you think exist for Riki-Oh? I mean, seriously, it's a very low budget hong kong flick. Maybe deleted scenes, but I'm doubting they may even exist. And it's not like we can get a commentary. Maybe a small clip of Daily Show/Craig Kilborn using it, but then you have to deal with those rights. I'd love to have extras, but in all seriousness, I don't know exactly what we could get. I just want a DVD of it period since I want to replace my VHS, but haven't taken the time to order the DVD online yet.

I'm sorry, I love Night of the Comet too, but... the director of the film recently spoke with Kelli Maroney and said the chances of a DVD release of this film are unlikely because it's kind of an obscure title.

Sorry Tobalrox, I was unaware that an actual Story of Ricky DVD has been issued amongst us stark raving mad consumers.
I do realize that it would be very hard to find extras for an obscure little gem such as this one but I guess you got the impression that I was aware that a DVD of this movie exsisted, therefore you thought I was looking for a re-release with extras which in all probability would be impossible to come by.

A lot of great films have been mentioned, but I'd like to see Tales From the Crypt and From Beyond the Grave along with the rest of Amicus' catalog get solid DVD releases.

Oh and Chaostar if your referring to Michele Soavi's Stage Fright (aka Aquarius) Anchor Bay will be putting that out in 2002! Even though it's a long wait it's good to know it's coming...

Err, you got it wrong mate. The first list was submitted by me to this thread a year ago (visit the first page of it), and I just wanted to point out that with DVD's you can always hope that your favorite movie will get a release.

HOLY MOUNTAIN

Has anyone seen this movie? It is supposedly loaded with sacreligous content and was widely banned when it was released in the seventies. There is a place on the internet that sells this movie on VHS, but at a rediculously high price and poor quality. I don't have much info on this flick, someone fill me in...
