it would be great to see job bob briggs monstervision series. i assume tnt owns the rights. it was such a pleasure on saturday nights to hear his perceptive commentaries on the guilty pleasure cult items that he hosted. also rusty the mail girl was very attractive. comments?

This would make no sense without the films that accompanied the broadcasts. I don't think it's possible to release all of those films in some kind of Monstervision series.

Well I don't think something not unlike how they're doing Elvira's Movie Macabre or MST3k is out of the question. TNT is Turner which is part of Warner so I'm sure they'd be able to toss somethings together.
And I can't believe I forgot about Rusty the Mail Girl. Boy does that bring back memories.

I actually think it would be great to get his comments even if the films didn't come along with them. I mean you know what that would mean don't you? Re buying all the movies you own already just for his comments. Why would a studio release the show and the movies along with them? They would have to hike up the price because you're getting free movies. If you buy a DVD for Monstervision I think you're paying for Joe Bob's comments. So yeah it makes it almost ridiculous to switch DVDs over and over and over and maybe the chapters on the movie DVD won't cut away when Joe Bob's commercials did. But still. Think about how many different episodes they could shove into a set. Real good question would be - if you cut out the movie how much of the show was just him talking?
Yeah it sounds messy. But I still like the idea.

I always enjoyed Monstervision, and Briggs' segments were great fun.A compillation would be nice, with or without the films. It's worth noting that there are some DVD's out which feature comm. tracks by Briggs,he's always a good listen.

I've got all the Joe Bob commentaries except Warlock Moon which I haven't gotten around to getting yet. I listened to all of them at least twice. They are both informative and hillarious. Unlike MST he doesn't just dog the movies.
I don't know why he quit doing them. Maybe Ray Dennis Steckler had a shit fit over the commentaries Joe Bob did for his three dvds. He always seemed like he had no sense of humor with his films.

I just looked up Warlock Moon and remembered why I haven't gotten it yet. The Dvd is missing 13 minutes of movie (including commentary). Hell High was missing a few minutes as well which sucks because that one is probably the best movie in the series. (I though I love Samurai Cop for completely different reasons.)

A lot of the Monstervision stuff is available in script/commentary form on his website... at least I think it used to be
I pretty much credit "Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater" for getting me into b-movies/b-action/trash/obscure horror, etc when it'd play late at night on The Movie Channel as a kid. Always impressed by his knowledge of each film he presents and the amount of information he can cram into his monologues. Like others, I would definitely buy a set of just his comments without the movies if it were available.

I miss Monstervision so much. Even though the movies were cut, Joe Bob was still worth it..and he usually had fun telling us how the censors were butchering the movie anyway.
I find it hard to believe that nobody out there has any of these episodes on tape, but I continue to find nothing when I search bittorrents and eBay.

I have. And they really don't have that much. I looked about a month and a half ago. And most of what they had I have on tape myself. And I only have maybe 10 of his broadcasts on tape. So you know.
By the way, how long was that show really on for? I tried to find out some time ago and couldn't get a definite answer. Some people said it was on since the '80s. Some said it started around '92/93.

Pretty sure it was on before '92.. I think it was on around the same time that Rhonda Spears and Gilbert Godfried were hosting USA Up All Night. Which I also totally miss :(
Edit: I was remembering Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater on TMC, not Monstervision :D
