Interesting.
Anyone who gets Monsters please record it!
I hope that doesn't just mean it's the "fixed" audio from the current dvd.

The Alternate versions section on IMDB list a 20min longer workprint. Maybe that's a clue! See the link below.

A lot of the workprint footage is unusable (i.e. some effects and what not aren't completed). Most of these scenes just includes longer dialogue scenes, particularly at the beginning when the items start coming alive at that cadaver warehouse. During this part, there is a "dead dog" that comes alive, but in the workprint, it's just a prop. Kind of funny actually.

I'm trying to find some kind of official info about this but came up with nothing on the Monsters HD site. Can anyone provide a link?

This has been on MonstersHD for awhile now but I haven't checked it out. I'm going to watch it tonight but my satellilte's guide only has it at 1hr 30min so my hopes aren't too high.

Yeh I think the OP is mistaken. ROTLD does play on Monsters HD all the time, but it's the theatrical cut. They haven't advertised anything about playing an extended cut.

i got my info from the schedule on the monstershd site that is available in adobe reader. it listed it as "Return Of The Living Dead - 1985 Director's Cut" when i checked it the other day. did anyone check it out yet? i can't since i don't have it but my neighbor has it and they're away.

Yeah, you are right. Looking at the PDF of the schedule it does say 1985 Director's Cut. I am by no means an expert on the movie but the version on MonstersHD seems to me to be exactly the same as the version I've always seen.

They replay the movies all the time. It gets repetitive but I still love the channel. Some you won't see except for every few months, like Subspecies and Humanoids From the Deep. But some seem to be on almost weekly - Halloween, Day of the Dead, Evil Dead, etc. I'm still in awe of the fact that I have a channel with all of these movies - in HD. It's great.

Just as a confirmation, this is NOT a "director's cut." O'Bannon is still NOT involved with this at all.

MonstersHD is actually advertising this on their web site at the moment. It is playing TONIGHT and they are claiming it is uncut. I was planning to watch it for comparison reasons, so I'll keep an eye out for any new scenes.

I like promos between movies they do on Monsters, the collectible shows are great as well.
