even though malevolence was in the halloween clone family, i enjoyed it on a basic level. mena kept the material fresh and i stayed with it until the end and have watched it several times since. does anybody like this or have any comments on the sequel?

I had no idea there was a sequel. I enjoyed the first one.

I didn't know there was a sequel either...but I enjoyed the original.

Nothing's set in stone yet for the Malevolence trilogy. Mena talks about it on the commentary track and it's been brought up in several interviews. Apparently, the plan is to do the ol' sequel / prequel gig. I guess that weird half-cow / half-human skeleton seen briefly in Malevolence will play a big part in, I believe, the prequel. I really dig this film so I'm looking forward to future chapters. I'm also looking forward to Brutal Massacre, Mena's sophmore horror / comedy effort starring Brian O'Halloran of Clerks fame.

The movie is having it's world premiere this Friday!

Good to know the film is all done and ready to go. Perhaps we might even see this one in time for Halloween?

I watched the Bereavement blu-ray tonight. Couldn't get into it at all. Ended up fast forwarding through half the film. I'll probably be in the minority though, because I've read a lot of positive reviews. But it just didn't click for me.

The only thing I liked about the movie were the amazing boobs on Alexandra Daddario. Absolutely mesmerizing.

^ Shame to hear that. I've been dying to see it, it is one of my most anticipated releases.

But I can't bring myself to buy it yet, because being a Starz/Anchor Bay release I have a sneaking suspicion that the blu-ray will be $9.99 or less sometime before Halloween.

Did you like the original? Do you feel it had the same look, feel and flow?

Yeah, I'll be getting the Blu eventually, but not going to pay the ridiculous prices being asked now.

I haven't watched the first film yet. I wasn't even aware that this was a prequel until I read the description on the Netflix envelope. I went back and looked at some of the reviews, and one mentioned that Malevolence was more of a straight-forward slasher.

Anyways, don't give my opinion too much weight. A lot of horror reviews seemed to love the film.

Bereavement looks great and shot very well. I was looking for more of a story with this one, being a prequel and all. Performances were decent enough, just got tired of the mundane torture. Malevolence is much more entertaining, but the style in Bereavement shows the director has improved the look of the film. Too bad the story didn't have the same upgrade.

Checked out Bereavement tonight and I can't say I was overly impressed. It just felt so ho hum how many times do we need to recycle this predictable plot. It did have the odd moment that lifted it slightly but it could never sustain any real momentum. Overall the acting, story and characters were all below par. It's not terrible but after reading some of the reviews, it was disappointing.

The blu-ray is $16.99 at Best Buy.

I've been dying to see this and will inevitably blind buy it before Halloween.

Should I just buy it now and get it over with, or wait a couple weeks to see if it goes on sale?

I just gave my .02 in the Annual October... thread. Count me in amongst the disappointed. There is just no meat to this story or characters and it rips off way too many aspects of better films. Its a pass for me.

I checked my Reward Zone account and had $10 in certificates, so I used them on this for only $6.99.

Really excited to finally see this!

Just a heads up for people who haven't picked this up yet. Wal-mart has the Blu-ray for $10, it's part of their Halloween horror movie sale thingy. There's also a bunch of other horror Blus for $10 like Day of the Dead (1985), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Halloween (1978), Young Frankenstein, A Horrible Way To Die, The Crow, The Strangers. That's all I can remember right now.
