Both Dog Soldiers and Descent made quite a splash with horror fans, and were something for Brit horror fans to really cheer along. So to start getting details on the Director's latest movie coming through is really good news. Doomsday is sounding interesting, and personally I can't wait to see it.
I'll be honest and say that while the two films mentioned ar great, neither were original. So I'm not surprised that this one has shades of 28 Days Later, Escape from New York, and Ghosts of Mars. No mind, two of those are good too. :D
Great Britain, 2007. A deadly plague, known as the "Reaper Virus," has broken out, killing hundreds of thousands in its wake. In desperation, the British Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again. The Government decides to send a crack team of operatives, led by Major Eden Sinclair, into the hot zone to investigate the possibility of a cure.
No trailer yet, but the good news is, the OFFICIAL SITE (http://www.doomsdayiscoming.com/) is alive and kicking with stills and artwork.
Bob Hoskins and Malcolm McDowell are in the cast, and we're looking for a release towards the end of the year.
Sounds ok but that poster does nothing for me, really. Still, I'll see whatever Marshall brings forth!
Malcolm McDowellSOLD.
Seriously, this looks good to me! Thanks for the heads up. :D

I liked Dog Soldiers a lot and totally loved The Descent! The premise sounds cool and the cast is shaping up nicely. Saw that Sean Pertwee from Dog Soldiers is also aboard. Looking forward to this.

Neil Marshall's name alone at this point is enough to get me to buy the ticket. The premise sounds intriguing enough, as long as the virus doesn't ape that of the 28 (Fill in the Blank) Later films.

Neil Marshall directing Bob Hoskins. Consider my $8 plunked down.

DOOMSDAY TRAILER

If you'd like to have the first look at Neil Marshall's Doomsday, I suggest you head on over to Yahoo Movies right now and have a gander at the first official trailer.
Doomsday tells the story of a lethal virus spreading throughout a major country and killing hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades--until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair, is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

Neil Marshall seems to be able to take the most overdone, unoriginal ideas and craft them into extremely interesting films. To make a good werewolf film is difficult. To make an exciting and good werewolf film is even more so. The plot for The Descent is almost nonexistent, but the movie is great. I am very excited to see this, even if I feel the premise doesn’t sound all that good. I enjoy Neil Marshall’s use of dialogue and man versus nature themes and will most certainly go see this.

Actually, the scenario is very very similar to the movie that plays in the cinema during Lamberto Bavas Demons!

i was at a film fare recenty and Neil Marshall was doing a Q & A session, the film sounded a lot of fun from what he was saying, he also said that this film contained (as he put it) more gore and splatter than his other 2 films put together, so that's got be a plus for readers of these pages.

Just finished watching the trailer. Looks like a great popcorn flick. And I can't resist a movie where Malcolm McDowell plays an evil leader of some-sorts.

Fantastic film! I really loved the mixing of genres this one had. In many ways it reminded me of 80's post-apocalyptic films, which is rare these days.

This film is still growing on me, and I loved it the first time in the theater.
Spun the unrated dvd the other night and liked it even more.

How kick ass is this flick? Watched unrated last night and loved it. Even though it was 4 am and I was tired the movie still kicked my ass. Exciting, funny, just great. Wish I could have seen it on the big screen. Marshall is 3 for 3 in my books.

One of the year's worst films. I've like Marshall's other stuff, but his had no flair or anything of real interest. I kept wanting it to get better, and it never did. The action sequences were boring. I'll take any of the films that this thing attempts to imitate.

I watched it on blu-ray and the quality was solid. Just hated the flick. Wanted to love it...but it wouldn't let me. Actually prefer the post-apocalyptic vibe in Hooper's MOH episode "Dance of the Dead" to this. Man, I'm really trolling now. ;)
