From Bloody-Disgusting.com:
"The story centers on a corporate climber (Nichols) who gets stuck working late on Christmas Eve and finds herself the target of an unhinged security guard (Bentley). With no help in sight, the woman must overcome physical and psychological challenges to survive."
and from Fangoria (http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=4793) :
"Fango just got word from Summit Entertainment that it will release the suspense-chiller P2 (which we last told you about here) in over 2,000 U.S. theaters November 9. Marking the directorial debut of HILLS HAVE EYES remake editor Franck Khalfoun, who scripted with HILLS Alexandre Aja and Grgory Levasseur, the movie stars Rachel (THE WOODS) Nichols as Angela, a young executive who becomes stranded in an underground parking garage when her car wont start and she cant get a cell phone signel. Shes approached by a security guard (GHOST RIDERs Wes Bentley), who at first seems friendly but soon turns menacing, forcing Angela to fight for her life. Look for a feature story on P2 in Fango #268, on sale in October. Michael Gingold"

That synopsis reminds me of a movie that scared the shit out of me when i was about 9.

I used to have Trapped on VHS. It was decent. And I think I may still have the VHS somewhere in my house.

Decent poster, but is Nichols illustrated onto it? She looks a lot darker than in the stills. Wish she still held the axe.

Update: The trailer is up at the site now, BUT I found that it gave away far too much of the film. If you can just skip the trailer and wait a few more weeks for the film itself, it may be for the better.

It looks good enough.... and Alexander Aja is (even though not directly) behind it! :)

The teaser peaked my interest, the trailer didn't impress me too much though. But I agree, even though Aja is not directing it, just the fact that his name is behind it has me looking forward to it.

Ebert gave the movie 3 Stars. I don't really care about reviews, but that's odd coming from him. Although he does still stick it to the movie by saying that there are "maybe 3 or 4 dozen movies he'd recommend over P2 this fall.

Saw it last night. The highlight was definitely Rachel Nipples' huge tits...otherwise it was disapointing. The male lead is campy and melodramatic to the point of absurdity, I found myself laughing throughout the whole thing. It was an ok waste of 110 mins, but nothing exceptional. Except for Rachel Nipples..

saw it last night with a big crowd. i liked it a lot. good acting, wes bentley is one crazy mofo in the movie but to the point where you just can't help but laugh and rachel nichols was great(and not to mention distractingly sexy in a blood splattered, revealing dress). it was a bit slow at times but not too bad. the movie was actually a lot more bloodier than i expected which was nice. the audience groaned at some of the nastier scenes a bunch of times, it was all good stuff. the ending was great too, go check it out guys.
I liked it... litle creepy horror movie :) 7/10.

I enjoyed it even though I did find myself laughing quite a bit at Wes Bentley's tremendously over the top yelling scenes, and cringing at that whole Elvis scene. It did have some pretty gruesome scenes, which I didn't think I'd see in this kind of movie. I liked Rachel Nichols, of course her non-ugly appearance probably had a lot to do with that. If nothing else I think she deserves the "Cleavage of the Year" award, which was going to Rose McGowan in Planet Terror up until this.
Not sure how well it'll do, we went to a 5:30 showing last night and there were 11 people in the theater. But then Paul said he saw it with a big crowd, so maybe we just went too early.

Saw this last night, and thought it was pretty awesome. Definately one of the better thrillers to come out in the last while. I loved Wes Bentley's acting chops in this one, so over-the-top it's good. And quite gory as well! 4 out of 5.

For this transgression you must now watch Hostel 1 and 2 back to back, followed by Saw 2 and 3. Add a dozen Hail Mary's, 3 Candyman's (in mirrior of course) and the torture porn Gods will probably forgive you.:D
I misssed it too, but went to American Gangster instead. Was hoping to make it a double, but P2 was on the other side of theater so we couldn't get to it.:(

O.K., drop the Saw's and Hail Mary's. The Hostel still stands.:)
I'm sure it will beat Americna Gangster to dvd by at least 2-5 weeks.
AG is a damn good movie, the only bad thing I can say is the print was out of focus in the theater I saw it in, unless it was on purpose but that seems unlikely.
At the end, there was a a shot of a main character standing in front of a doorway, this doorway had 2 identical signs on the left and right of it. I could read the one on the left, but the one on the right was unreadable although obvilously the same.
So anyone else who's seen this, was the screen I saw it on fucked or was this an artistic desicion? I noticed it in other parts but not as pronounced and obvilous as the shot near the end.

Your print was probably out of focus. AG was way way way too long for it's own good. To me it felt like a 4 hour movie.
But yeah, they're showing P2 at one of the smaller theatres in my city that barely anyone goes to anymore. When I went last night with my buddy, there was probably only a total of 8 or 9 people, including us.

In retrospect, this was not a bad thing at all. I will take Bee Movie over this any day of the week.
Who was the real damsel in distress was in this movie? The bad guy sucked at kidnapping about as much as hero girl sucked at escaping. Sure, she was forced to listen to him talk which was really, really, really quite cruel, but the "stupid fucking cunt" did kill his dog, a defenseless creature! *Disclaimer: I am quoting Wes's character in the movie here and do not blame her really for killing his vicious attack dog right when he was about to rip out her throat Tsk tsk. It is almost a tie, but I hold that the fact that Wes screams like a 6 year old girl may in fact make him the movie's true damsel.
It is entirely possible this movie would play better with a crowd or if you were not expecting it to be good, but neither applied to me tonight I thought it was terrible. The only thing that made the movie watchable to me was laughing at Wes Bentley's utterly embarrassing Cary Elwes approved performance. Way to ruin Christmas. Asshole.

Well then, I don't know how one could consider a Rottweiler with sharp claws and fangs a "defenseless creature". Nevermind that it was busy trying to rip out her throat when she killed it in self defense, but whatever.

Quotation marks around everything, not just "Stupid Fucking Cunt", would be helpful then in trying to figure out whether or not it was your own viewpoint or not. I just naturally assumed that everything outside the quotes was what you really thought.

I caught this last night and overall I thought it was pretty good and I could see Aja's influence throughout. Although the film overall works, I really didn't buy into both leads and that hurt the film for me. I'm still not sure what to make of it but hey at least we will have another Christmas themed horror film to watch this winter.

I also watched this last night. I found it to be very emotionally flat. Yes, it had a couple of good scenes but overall, it didn't swing me one way or another. I didn't hate it, I also didn't like it. It just didn't have any real effect on me.
I like Wes Bentley but I didn't buy his crazy psycho character at all.

Not a bad little flick. Like others said, not Great but...it's worth a watch if you have some time to spare. But yeah, the psycho was too "cute" and young to be threatening, although he tried.

Okay, so it's just your usual stalk and menace film, but there are plenty of those that are worth seeing, and for me this is one of them.
You can pretty much guess how the twists and turns are going to go - but they did have the kahoonas to put in two or three gruesome scenes, and frankly - toward the end I was getting quite tense.
So I enjoyed it for what it was. There'll be plenty people complaining it's not original enough, but like slasher films and for that matter big monster movies, it plays by the rules. There'll be another one along just like this no doubt, but if you're in the mood for some decent photography, a pretty girl being chased, and a couple bits of nastiness, you can do a lot worse.
Recommended for fans of this type of thing.

I ended up renting and checking this out and I thought it was purty darn good. I was skeptical about how they could keep the tension and believablity though 90 minutes in the same place, but I thought it was well thought out and well executed. It held my attention, didn't have any "roll my eyes, flick off the screen and take myself out of the movie" moments.
Defintily worth a look and the time it takes to view, and even the couple bucks to rent it. Had there been some nudity, it couldn't been a masterpiece.

Seriously, not even Wes as Elvis, because that stone cold cracked me up?
All scenes with Wes caused me to roll my eyes and/or laugh, but that one was something special. Until he is less of a cream puff, I would really prefer him to refrain from playing "bad" guys.

Wes tried to pull me out, and might've for a second or 2 now that I look back more close, but not to the point of flipping off, which is the truest tell for me.
The Elvis scene did make me crack up laughing, but I was still in there. It just seemed absurd enough to work with his already absurd character. If I was going to check out of this, it would've been when Wes was introduced. Insted I had a quick "hey it's that freaky dude from American Beauty" moment and went with it.:)
I agree, Wes isn't really cut out to play the bad guy, at least not in this. I'm sure he could find that inner rage or something to make him more scary and less of a punk-ass-bitch. This had to be on the director or script, no way he'd get cast otherwise.

What you makes you think you weren't supposed to crack up during the Elvis scene?
All films need a little bit of humor, and that scene certainly worked for me, it freshened things up. The film also has dashes of the absurd, silliness, and the odd unbelievable moment - but it's only entertainment.
Or maybe I'd watched the mediocre - and even more silly - Final Destination 3, and my mind was confused for a moment.

I was actually speaking directly to that one line in bigdaddy's review that nothing took him out of the movie when that seemed a sudden jump from the ridiculous to the very, very, very ridiculous to me personally. I hope they did intend the movie to be a comedy it works much better that way.
If you found that movie to be tense and exciting though, more power to you.
dwatts
04-19-2008, 12:36 PM
I don't think they intended the movie to be a comedy, but to me it was obvious they threw in some humorous moments. Just about every horror film does the same thing, it's cinemas effort to put us on the roller coaster, with both ups and downs. The Presley scene in this is clearly a light-hearted moment and not intended to cause menace. The only time Elvis could have been menacing is if someone had just taken the last donut. :D
I'd say that somehow the movie managed to get tense in the final third. It was a bit strange, because the movie doesn't do anything new with the stalk and menace thing - but I guess the performances were good enough to catch me up in it.
As I said, it's not a classic by any means, but to be honest, I was expecting rubbish, and it's better than that.

Just saw this on cable last night & I thought it was pretty good. A little long like a couple have said, but not bad. They could have trimmed about 10 to 15 minutes off.
The ending could have been tighter. I didn't like that part when they showed her in the streets after it was over, it exposed that nobody was around. This was NY for crying outloud. That wasn't smart. They should have just stopped it at the gate, with the police & firemen showing up. Its totally plausible for all this to happen in an underground parking garage with busy streets.
Also it adds to a list of Christmas "themed" horror movies.
