if you go to dark sky's web site you'll see the artwork and specs for the new 2 disc edition. what happened to the commentary? it's not listed. and is it really full frame like it says it's going to be. i know the old elite was widescreen. i guess that was a typo. but i really don't want to have to buy both the new disc and the old recalled Dark Sky disc just to get the commentary. that way i get everything in terms of extras. :fucked: anyone know what's up with this?

here's the latest specs:

“My Name is Buck” (Robert Englund featurette)
“The Butcher of Elmendorf: The Legend of Joe Ball”
Marilyn Burns featurette
Theatrical trailers
TV spots
Radio spots
Still gallery slideshow
Alternate credits and title sequences
Comment cards

shame they couldn't find the legendary deleted scenes. i remember reading on here about one involving a midget. anyone know the other ones?

sorry if i'm being anal but i was hoping they wouldn't screw up their Eaten Alive disc again.

What is the deal with the disc Dark Sky released earlier this year? I got mine from Amazon months ago. I never opened it yet so I can't comment on the quality, picture, etc. Was this one defective?..............................Larry

Thanks. I see that Amazon has the 2 disc one up for pre-order with a release date of 09-25 and the cover (if thats the one they use) looks impressive.

I believe the previous release was pulled because the transfer had progressive scan problems.

They pulled the last one because they found better print materials at the last minute, basically so they could give us better image quality. That's what I remember reading, anyway.

got mine at best buy for 14.99 which was weird to even see it watched and no problems with progressive scan playback

that doesn't explain why they got rid of the commentary? they find a better print so they throw away the commentary. it doesn't seem like any new extras were added either. hopefully they just made a mistake on their website, as that would make the most sense.

Does the recalled one really have a commentary, or is it a misprint on the covers?

Perhaps the commentary was made for the last release and didn't match the new materials/footage correctly? That would make the most sense.

Back in July, Fangoria had this to say about the new Eaten Alive DVD:

This edition will include a new, improved anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer with the filmmaker/actors commentary, Robert Englund interview and featurette on real serial killer/inspiration Joe Ball from the previous edition (a few copies of which got out into the marketplace before it was cancelled), plus new onscreen chats with Hooper and actress Marilyn Burns, alternate credits, stills, trailers and TV/radio spots. Retail price is $24.98.

That sounds more like it to me so hopefully Dark Sky Films just has the wrong specs on their site.

Amazon.com says it's in Widescreen and the audio commentary is included. *Pre-orders*
