Because of all the voting on and off of the same films. Films that are voted back on will be subject to a poll to determine whether or not they should stay or leave for good. If the majority feel this the film should be in the top 100 then you can no longer vote it off and if they don't agree it's in the top 100 it will be taking off the list and you can no longer vote it on.
The Ninth film up is Maniac (1980)
The poll will be over Sat at 10:30am

I love slashers, but whatever people see in this one, it just misses me entirely. Save a few scenes, it's real dull.

It has slasher elements for sure, but all in all I don't think of it as a horror film. A study of the insane brain, yeah, but not horror.

Maniac isn't horror, The Lost Boys isn't horror. Do you classify anything as a horror film? :)

I saw Maniac somewhat recently. I didn't understand it. When I saw it, I thought we were supposed to dislike the killer. Then I read up on it online and people were saying he was sympathetic. I was like- "What the fuck?" What the heck about him was sympathetic?
Anyway, I really don't understand what about this film people gravitate toward. And I also took a good look at myself. I discovered that I really seem to like movies about serial killers. I love Last House on the Left, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Silence of the Lambs, American Psycho, Dahmer, and Deranged. So I really feel like I understood the movie just fine.
I'm from the school where when you put a group of well-known movies of the same category of horror together, there's a weak link. Maniac is that weak link, clearly, if you put it in that pool up there. There's nothing Maniac does that one of those movies didn't do better. Except maybe special effects. But- who watches a psychological expose of a serial killer to see showy gore? Isn't the point supposed to be that the crimes are horrible and disturbing?
I didn't think Maniac was boring. But I could easily see how people would find it to be that way. The main character is just a fat slob. How are we supposed to feel about him? Sorry? We don't get to know him at all. And did anyone else notice that his personality was always changing around and around? I hate serial killer movies where the killer is one kind of person one second and the next, totally different.

Yeah, I classify all horror films as horror.;)
I think what makes me feel movies like this aren't horror is we spend most of our time with the killer rather than the victims. Can't build up much care for the victims when we don't know them. Same reason I'd vote no for Henry and American Psycho.
Lost Boys is so close, but I never felt scared for the kids as the whole feel of it was "they'll be fine, have fun" instead of "they may be fucked, hold on".
