Excellent. I've been wanting to see HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS for quite some time but have never been able to get it from Netflix or Blockbuster Online. Color me stoked! :D

Yes!! I've been wanting to see Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers forever, and wasn't going to pay the ridiculous money for the OOP release.

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers was selling well? Shoot - I sold one for $2 and it was unwatched, mint!
And I hate the Scared To Death cover. It's a horror movie, not a Sci-Fi channel exclusive (that's what it looks to be). Damn - I was hoping they'd use the original ad slicks (which I have).
I shouldn't bitch - hopefully they'll be able to salvage the trailer I sent them to use. :)

I'm definitely up for the Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers reissue. I've had the old DVD release forever.

Definitely War of the Trojans/Giant of Marathon.
Collecting Bava turns out to be a very expensive hobby this year..

I'm looking forward to the Trash-O-Rama. I'll probably pick up Hookers, too.

Fred may be putting in a comic book into the dvd courtesy of a fan of the Hookers movie.

Oh! Maybe I'll re-buy, then. Cool extras make all the difference when deciding on buying certain flicks.

Shock Till You Drop:
No VHS cover titillated us more than the one for Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers for obvious reasons. And we can't believe 20 years have passed since the sight of Michelle Bauer wielding one mean gas powered wood-cutting tool stirred something in our loins.
Infinity Entertainment Group knows the value in Fred Olen Ray's '88 trash classic. On August 5th, they will release a 20th Anniversary Edition of Hookers with director's commentary, a video featurette, trailers and Nite Owl Theater episodes.
That same day, Infinity is also dropping Morella's Blood Vision. On the slab: Three classic horror tales hosted by Morella Zombies, The Blood Seekers and Blood Stalkers. And stick around as she shares new episodes of her show Graveyard Theater.
Both titles are presented in 16 x 9 anamorphic widescreen, transferred from 35mm. Special features on Blood Vision include Morella's show, Graveyard Theater.

Retromedia releases tend to look like shit. I'll wait for the first reviews to pop up.

Typically Retromedia used 16mm TV prints, so if they're using new anamorphic transfers from 35mm elements it should certainly be an improvement. Doesn't sound like they struck a new print from the negatives though, but that's not unexpected.
Blood Vision's a delayed release from earlier this year, I figured they were challenged on the rights to a film or two from the set but now I'm thinking they found better elements and decided to use them. Retromedia's always willing to do what they can with their meager means. Fred once commented that he knew going into the Edgar Wallace set that they were going to be taking a bath on it, and that he didn't specifically like the movies but that the fan base would so he released them. My kinda guy.

I'll definitely be updating, as the old disc never was the greatest.
Retromedia have been giving some more DVD titles the anamorphic treatment lately... though they have sporadically for years, i.e. The Deathmaster DVD)

I'm pleased with Retromedia lately. Last year's triple feature release Blood Flood had a serious audio problem with Grave of the Vampire. It was corrected and reissued in November. Couldn't be happier as Grave of the Vampire was a title I had been longing for and Retromedia's treatment was worth the wait.
Also, who else would give a nice special edition release to a movie like Planet of Dinosaurs? Haven't seen their Scared to Death dvd yet.

I'll definitely pick up the new version of Hollywood Chainsaw. I sure don't want to pay $100 on EBay or whatever it's been going for.

No kidding. BTW, People, the HCH disc is pre-ordering at Amazon for fucking $9.99!!! I mean, even if the print isn't up to your prestigious standards, it's a helluva deal.

The new HCH disc isn't a big leap in terms of quality, besides the fact that it's now anamorphic. The 35mm print used is supposedly the last remaining 35mm print of the film currently known to exist, and certainly shows its wear from past theatrical use with various lines and artifacts throughout. The colors seemed somewhat off at times, but perhaps that was due to the cheap original Fuji stock which was all from "short ends".
The new audio commentary is great enterainment however, and Fred Olen Ray is never boring to listen to.
