I don't know about you guys, but when i was a kid i used to watch all those damn giant b-monster flicks from the 50s/60s on TV. Sure, looking at them now they seem cheesy as hell, but back then i couldn't get enough of those films.
So, if you got a favorite giant monster (or in this case, giant insects) movie, vote please.

I didn't include The Fly (original/remake/sequels) or The Beast Within cuz they are more "human" insects plus not tall enough.
However, i did include Bug and Ticks since some of them were actually way bigger (mutations) then their natural sizes.

I was a child that admired the big lizard Godzilla growing up...so needless to say Mothra wuz my fav overgrown insect!

Voted for the giant butterfly formeerly known as The Thing (why would anyone name a cutesy butterfly like Mothra a "Thing"?)

It's that William Shatner flick, right?
Sorry Jason, I've never seen that one.

Sorry Jason, I've never seen that one.

It's cool - It does have William in it, check it out if you ever get a chance.

Hmm, tough choice here, enjoyed Them! quite a bit but I think I'll have to go with Mimic.

I'm not that familiar with the giant bug genre. I've seen Them, as well as many of the others, but not in at least 15 years. I haven't seen "Bug!" in about that long either but I do have vivid memories of it playing on USA late at night and occasionally on Saturday afternoons around the same time that they showed "The Children" so I have fond memories of it.

Technically, they're not really giant insects like the others. They're normal sized, perhaps slightly larger, but on the plus side, they had the ability to set shit on fire! Always very cool. :)

Oh, and "Eight Legged Freaks" looks to be a great film. I can't wait until it arrives in theatres!

I think your right maybrick. It's been a while since i saw "Bug" but the only thing i do remember about that film is that oversized bug crawling up that woman's head before setting it on fire.

Somehow that gave me the impression that most of those bugs in the movie were actually larger then their natural sizes....

I went for "Tarantula"; love those Jack Arnold cheapies from the '50s. -Hope Universal get around to those sci-fi classics soon. Another cool tarantula movie by the way, is "Tarantulas - The Deadly Cargo". I don't think I've ever seen "Empire Of The Ants" (is Adam in it ;)?), but the DVD is coming this month. -I have a fondness for oldfashioned f/x, so I should like 'em more than I did the CGI bugs in "Starship Troopers".

Well, Adam and the Ants Oooops i meant Empire of the Ants is a kewl piece of trash. However,
be prepared for this monster:http://www.dem.de/entertainment/stars/j/joan_collins.jpg She also happens to star in this movie and is much more hideous then those poor ants...:D

I haven't seen much on this poll, but any Verhoeven is good Verhoeven, so Starship Troopers on an unexperienced vote.

i really didnt like it but then again I wasnt crazy about the first.
I did like Charles Dutton's role in the first...he was pretty cool.
I was surprised that they made a sequel...all of a sudden it was at Blockbuster..

I heard that Mimic / Mimic 2 was going to be released as either a two pack or a 2 on 1 disk. This true?

i recently watched kingdom of the spiders and it brought back memories because i used to watch it alot as a kid, so i went to put it in and after this movie has been playing for awhile, i realized i accedentaly put in empire of the ants which has equal giant insect cheese value. both great!! i think i'm voting for kingdom of the spiders though.
