At least it sounds interesting enough to me :D
Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism and Death Smiles on a Murderer (2008) (http://www.amazon.com/Torture-Chamber-Sadism-Smiles-Murderer/dp/B00118SUIE/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1201029767&sr=8-1)

Released by Legend House on the 25th of March 2008.
Doctor Sadism:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062235/
A Gothic classic?
Count Frederic Regula (Christopher Lee) is in prison awaiting execution for killing 12 virgins and using their blood in his experiments. He has a spiked gold mask slammed onto his face by a red-hooded executioner Sounds somewhat familiar, doesn't it? :D
I'm sold..:)
Death Smiles on a Murderer (yep, the Joe D'Amato "classic"):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068972/
I wonder if this Death Smiles at Murder (or whatever..) is uncut and has a good transfer.
I only have the Italian Shock DVD which is OK-ish.but doesn't fare well in the audio department.

I bought this 4-movie set last year ...

including Torture Chamber Of Dr. Sadism. Its more fantasy than horror. Didn't suck but wasn't great either. For those looking for torture porn will also be disappointed, because Dr. Sadisms torture is quite tame :D

I have only seen Dr. Sadism on a bad ep tape that I bought at K-Mart when I was in high school. I have always wanted to see Death Smiles, looking forward to this!

I need to catch up to both of these.I've heard of Legend House, anybody own any of the DVDs they've issued ? How's the quality ? I know they've tended to go after some pretty obscure titles.

I've been waiting on Death Smiles on a Murderer for a long time, hopefully it's uncut!

I just received a promotional screener for their new release of BARN OF THE NAKED, and it appears to have some sort of an authoring problem that causes fast motion (particularly motion from left to right and vice versa) to become distorted. It's a problem that the special features suffer from as well.

From what I read it's considered a pretty good movie. I might dip my paws on this when it comes out.

It's a very weird and trippy kind of movie.Dreamlike if you wish.Typically Italian and very enjoyable.
Here's a review of the Italian Shock DVD:

By todays standards this DVD would be rated lower.
There was a review over at Eurohorrordvds once but that site is no more..

i have the GERMAN release of Torture Chamber which looks great, and the Italian shock of Death Smiles. I'll wait to hear if its worth upgrading before pre-ordering, but thanks for the heads up on this DVD!!

Right,here's a review:
http://www.dvdmaniacs.net/Reviews/Q-T/torture_chamber.html
Seems to me they just took the R2 PAL transfer,because..
but neither transfer is anamorphic or properly flagged for progressive scan.
Both films are perfectly watchable but at the same time, there's been plenty of room left for improvement. Some mild compression artifacts show up in the darker moments and detail tends to be a little soft in some spots indicating that tape sources might have been used here. Color reproduction isn't bad, but it can look a little flat at times. It's nice to see both films in their original aspect ratios but there's really no reason they couldn't have been 16 x 9 enhanced.
Besides, the screenshots look about the same as those in the Italian Shock review.. (http://www.dvdmaniacs.net/Reviews/A-D/death_smiles_at_murder.html)

Well I'm really not all that surprised. I own the EMS version of Castle and the Italian Shock version of Death so the extras would be the only thing for me to spring for.
It looks like Legend House is something to avoid, unless it's their own original content they're putting out. And Jesus, when is DVD Maniacs Forum coming back online already?
