Whoo Hoo!

I've been cast as a zombie extra for a local feature length film called 'Bled White (http://www.bledwhitemovie.com/)'. We'll be shooting my scene(s?) tomorrow along with 17 others of the undead. You can read some about it here from our local news: http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/geneva/homepage/x469091915

I've told them I plan on wearing a Target uniform, as I still have about five sets of the same exact red shirt and tan pants from years ago. Plus I still have my name badge which doesn't actually have a Target logo on it (which I always found strange). But does anyone have any other quick easy suggestions? In reality they're pretty nice shirts/pants, so it's kind of a waste. Yet I don't want to be dressed in flannel like all your other zombies.

They told me to expect to do a lot of running, which sucks in two folds because A) I don't really like running. B) I don't like running zombies. But hey, zombie gigs don't come around every day.

Being a zombie is being a zombie. Even if it involves running, it's still pretty sweet. Congrats!

Well I lucked out, they picked me to be a slow zombie and I'm off by myself. I got the most extensive make up of the day for close ups, missing my left eye. They did a lot of that layered latex and gave me a spooky contact, so it was much more than just powered pancake mix they went all out. I couldn't find my camera to bring but the producer will be sending me the photos she took. She said I'd definitely be on a t-shirt. Rock on.

I had to roll around in snow which sucked but it worked out alright. Everyone else was a running zombie and I have to say I'd rather thrash around on snow for a few minutes than run around in it take after take like the rest did. Taking deep breaths in that cold air can really wipe you out; one zombie became dizzy and had to be taken back inside never to return.

It seemed like a pretty serious zombie movie but there were some rather cartoonish moments with what felt to me like Laurel and Hardy kinda gag in the scene we did, including one set up a cast member called the "Scooby-Doo Shot" were two people being chased by zombies crossed paths. The director found that description funny as hell. So I'm not quite sure how the end product will be. It was entirely hand held with what we did.

It was rather unsettling when I first stepped into the shower and the blood just poured off of me filling the bathtub a deep red. I had a "Jesus was that mine?" sensation when I first saw it. There's still latex on my hands and goatee hair after all the scrubbing.

Only real downside was that I didn't get to eat anyone, but apparently that would have been pig intestines anyways so I consider myself lucky on that too. Sounds like this film has gut munching which I consider a requirement for any real zombie movie.

Hahaha! Sweet. That sounds like it was a lot of fun.

I remember I had to make a movie for an undergraduate French class--a friendly introduction to the University for foreign exchange students. Somehow I convinced my group to make it a zombie movie. The premise was "These students were making a video and something went terribly wrong." Needless to say, our instructor was not amused. Happily our French was excellent, so she couldn't dock too many points. ;-)
