Last night, the New Beverly Cinema kicked off the "Greats of Roth" Film Fest (details) bringing the house down with Sergio Martino's Torso and the jaw-dropping Pieces by Juan Piquer Simón. A full blog report is coming soon, however, it's worth noting now that Roth - the host for the evening - announced No Shame Films is prepping a new DVD release of Torso. Meanwhile, Sage Stallone's terrific-looking print of Pieces will be issued through Grindhouse Release in the near future. More details as they come in...

Excelent. Will be picking both up on DVD as I only have Torso on VHS, and a very crappy fullscreen version of Pieces (which I'm sure everyone has).

Great news!
I must be psychic....
Posted in 2005:
NoShame Films are releasing two Sergio Martino Gialli in the near future. This is already old news.
But these discs are part of their "Sergio Martino Collection".Their next release will be "Your Vice Is A Locked Door...".
So what do you think,do they have all the rights to Sergio Martino's movies? Will we see yet a new and improved "Torso"?
I read that apparently NoShame is run by people who worked for Anchor Bay and Blue Underground.
If NoShame got the rights for Martino films just like Bill Lustig got those of Argento we can expect some more.
This is just my guess though.
Any opinionshttp://www.horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showpost.php?p=314450&postcount=1

What made me like Eli Roth was when I found out the whole "PANCAKES!" thing from Cabin Fever was a little in-joke to the chop suey scene. Made no damn sense, but it's absolutely hilarious.
Also, you've gotta love Lynda Day George in Day of the Animals when she makes every shot look like a 70s shampoo commercial.

Curious about this as well. I've yet to see the film but still would like too, can anyone tell me what the diffrences are between the Anchor Bay version and the import version? They seem to have diffrent running times with the American version being a bit longer but the import says it has a diffrent opening scene, anyone have any basis for comparison on the two?

As a hardcore Slasher & Giallo fanatic, I've been dying to see this, but the long out of print Anchor Bay disc simply does for far too much for my monthly spending on there limits for me to warrent getting it. Even much more so then My Mother is a Werewolf and the first Slumber Party Massacre.
So sad to hear the company that was gonna again re-issue it went under, as I would have snatched it up the first month of it's new release. Ah well ... *shrugs*

Basically both are the same. Only some differences with the credits.
The image quality of the AB disc was/is OK.

I have the old, OOP, X-Rated DVD which is THE ONLY version with the daylight swamp chase. I'm still convinced that's the right way to watch it.It takes place in the early morning with the sun rising, which makes the fog appear.. So it has to be daylight.
Also there's a similer chase at the beginning of Mannaja four years later, which is also during daylight. Might even be the same swamp.

It's R2,PAL and no English subs for the Italian dialog (which is only a few seconds though..)
The Shameless disc could be a nice alternative:
http://10kbullets.com/reviews/t/torso-shameless-films/
This release comes with audio options a Dolby Digital mono mix in English. There are a few scenes that were never dubbed into English. These are presented in Italian and English subtitles have been included.
My advice is, if you really want it, buy the cheapest version you can get. There just has to be a R1 rerelease around the corner, don't you think?!
