Buh bye Monsters HD! Damn that hurt. I had no idea. I just turned on the TV today and see that channel 9481 is GONE! I hop online to find out they've (Dish and Voom) have been duking it out in court.

The single reason for me getting Dish Network was Monsters HD. I didn't regret it for a second. Now it's gone.

This could very well kill Voom, but if they end up going elsewhere, I'll be following them to wherever. I just looked into Chiller and it just doesn't cut it.

I got my fingers crossed Voom will make a deal with Verizon fios TV since they are supposed to be adding a bunch more HD channels this year. Course that wont help most out right now since fios tv is not in a ton of areas yet...

Seriously - I would move if it meant getting Fios and Monsters HD. Stupid Dish.

Voom/Monsters HD has been available on Cablevision since last summer.

Well, I'm not willing to move THAT far. Fios is at least available all around me, just not on my particular street.

I just wish it was available in Canada, but I guess that's too much to ask.

This sucks ass big time for those who love the channel. I used to have dish tv few years ago. Every time it rained my satellite shit the bed. I ended up crawling back to my local cable provider.

I was at least able to record about 20 movies in HD before it was dropped. The one thing I really like about Dish is the 722 DVR, it allows you record programs then transfer them to an external hard drive. I have a 720 gig hard drive stuffed with movies. :D

BTW, here's the link to sign a petition to bring back VOOM, or at least Monster HD.

I'm with you guys on Comcast! I'm not really into satellite because I'm a big fan of OnDemand content, so I'd really like to see MonstersHD on a cable system I have available to me (Comcast, which I have, or Fios, which I could get)

I know that Cablevision has MonstersHD. I will ask around about Comcast to see if they plan on getting it or not.

I want to drop Comcast very soon, so hopefully they'll go to Verizon FIOS.

You couldn't be more right about that, Dave. Chiller sucks. Who wants to watch edited movies (devoid of any profanity, nudity, and violence) that are also saturated with commercials? Not only that, their movies are always shown open-matte or pan and scan and it looks like they broadcast old VHS tapes. The transfers always look shoddy - muddy with washed-out colors, etc. It's an insult to have a channel like that.

To summarize:

MonstersHD: Widescreen remastered transfers, broadcast in HD, uncut, no commercials

Chiller: open-matte/pan and scan VHS quality, broadcast in SD, cut to shit, loaded with commercials

The only reason I've watched Chiller is to see the reruns of "Freddy's Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series."

:fire: Chiller

I agree with Billy, Chiller doesn't cut it. I watched it when it first came on to catch Twin Peaks and the Friday the 13th series but now once they replayed them, I haven't been back. Like Billy said, edited for TV, no thanks. In HD? No, at least not from DirecTV. I probably haven't tuned to that station in over a year and haven't missed it.

Here's hoping DirecTV and MonstersHD hook up and come to an agreement.

I doubt Comcast will pick it up since they are more in the business of dropping channels and raising their prices. Directv would be the most likely since they seem to add about everything that is out there - still hoping fios grabs it but if they do it wont be anytime really soon (I speculate) since they are taking longer than expected to bring the additional HD channels they said they would have last month.

Hmmm....Comcast is always adding channels where I am. It seems like they add 2-3 new HD channels every couple months (just this year they've added USA, Sci-Fi, Animal Planet, TLC, AMC & CNN in HD), and they've also just recently added Fuse and IFC on the Digital Service. The only channel I've noticed they've dropped recently is Sundance-West, but the normal East feed is still on the system.

I hate that Dish dropped MonstersHD. That being said, the day I noticed MonstersHD was gone I noticed I now had MGM HD which was showing a nice, uncut, commercial free print of Night of the Comet. :)

I wasnt really referring to how many HD channels they added or removed but I had Comcast until just this past february and while they were fighting with Big Ten Network saying they didnt want to raise prices by adding it, they instead beginning in January 2008 dropped like half of the showtime channels I had and a couple regular channels and then upped their price on everything- With Comcast I had standard Digital cable with no DVR, no HD and just basic cable in my bedroom- this cost me more than what I have now which is 1)more standard channels 2)an HD-DVR 3)HD which I didnt have with comcast (and fios has both free and pay per view on demand too) 4)A reciever in my bedroom so I can see ALL my channels and 5)instead of just 5 showtime channels I get 16 showtimes and all the encores, flix, sundance, IFC, The movie channels, starz - and I pay less !! Please I do not want to hear any Comcast defenders they are awful not to mention their HD quality is subpar due to bandwidth limitations (which is why they are having to drop showtime and other channels so they can add some more HD channels- they dont have the bandwidth to add HD any other way but drop other channels) - the only reason I even had Comcast is because I got a ditch the dish deal and got 25.00 off my bill for 16 months to make it more reasonable

I have DirecTV, which I got long before MonstersHD arrived. I was always envious when I saw a Dish Network in someones lawn, now I feel sorry. I've been waiting to hear it was coming soon to my system for far too long. But there's still some cool stuff that makes it onto some of my channels in high definition, Black Christmas, Cutting Class, Even Sleepaway Camp 1 & 2. But will MonstersHD ever make it to DirecTV?
I would like to touch this Comcast/limited bandwidth thing. I've never been blown away by any High Definition shown on Cable, Dish Network or DirecTV. The cable was more pixely than the dishes, which both looked better, but only a little bit more detailed than a good standard dvd transfer, no goosebumps. Nothing like watching a Blue Ray disc. Is there an "ultimate" HD provider out there? So, what is this "Voom" anyway? A premium group of HD movie channels, or a completely different service that used DN as a host?

gunner is pretty dead-on...I've never been that overly impressed with ANY HD broadcast from cable or satellite (which some of my relatives have). They surely look better than digital or SD, and it's worth the extra $6 I pay every month for it, but if I have the chance to watch a film in HD on cable, or a Blu-Ray, or hell, even a regular DVD upconverted to 1080p, I'll take the DVD/Blu-Ray every time. I like having HD on my cable system for sports and normal TV programs...nothing more.

Monsters HD / Voom have to end up somewhere if they are going to survive. The three states that Cablevision serves just isn't going to cut it. I'm keeping my hopes up.

That s the only station I missed when I swiched to ATT U-Verse.That would be awesome if ATT picked up the Voom channels including Monsters HD.Other than that, U-Verse is frickin awesome, the standard definition channels look amazing compared to Dish.

Yea I believe Verizon and AT&T both use fiber technology which is far superior and makes both standard and HD sharper than what cable or satellite is capable - but unfortunately not everyone has that option yet since both are pretty new- but I definitely know what you are saying cuz my picture is sharper on even standard tv as well- I just wish they didnt charge like 6.00 for an extra box in every additional room but I guess they all do that

Cablevision owns Voom so I seriously doubt there is any chance of Verizon FiOS getting the channels considering the head to head competition in the Tri-Sate area. I'm lucky to still have MonstersHD since I'm in Long Island.

"frickin awesome", huh? This is good news. I'm bombarded with AT&T solicitations for U-Verse, and I'm at the point where I think I'll just close my eyes and think of England and submit to their whims. I was gonna go Dish, but U-Verse seems less messy, and I assume more palatable to my landlord (I rent, I don't own)

Any other comments on this service?
