How does this not have it's own thread? I thought this film was great, everyone is looking for something original well here it is. It's about a christian girl who campaigns for abstinence and happens to be born with teeth in her Virgina!. I was thoroughly entertained throughout, great characters, and a nice off beat tone. The only downside I thought was that her transition from strict goody goody to ruthless killer was a bit too drastic and they should of took a bit more time with that. Otherwise great fun. Check it out if you haven't.

I saw this last Saturday and agree with you. Exeptional film. I found everything from the tone, acting, directing to be top notch.
The DVD received a nice treatment as well, so it's a definite pick up.

I thought this was rather entertaining as well. There were some scenes that I thought were just hilarious like with the gynocologist.

This is definitely a unique film. Not gory but really works as it is. Worth a rental at least.

I was surprised to see so many castrations in a new "mainstream" film. Also why did she kill that second guy? Was it because she didn't like that comment he made? Didn't make a lot of sense

There is a thread around here somewhere, as I recall posting in it right before the board crashed and deleted all recent posts. But yeah, this is a fantastic film with a pitch perfect undercurrent of very dark comedy. The shot where the brother's severed dick falls to the floor from between Dawn's legs... that is so hilariously wrong, and it's the one shot I'm most surprised got by the MPAA. The scene with the gynecologist having his fingers reattached cracked me up quite a bit as well.

Jess Weixler is amazing. She's such a stunning girl, and her performance as Dawn is dead-on. This couldn't have been an easy role to tackle, but she handles it like a pro and really impressed me. The whole film hinges on her, and she really comes through.

I loved the underlying influences that the teeth have on Jess and her brother. Deep down, she know there's something wrong inside of her, and that's why she latches on to the whole abstinence for religion movement. Meanwhile, her brother prefers anal sex ever since his perverted pool stunt almost cost him his finger as a kid. The signs are there, but you're never slapped over the head with them.

This is a terrific film, and it's right behind The Signal as my favorite of the year. Despite many opinions to the contrary, American horror is far from dead.

I don't believe she purposely castrated the second guy (who we see at the hospital, not dead). Every indication is that the teeth are a defense mechanism. She actually wanted to have sex with him, but when she heard about the bet, her mood changed and they clinched.

just watched it. Enjoyable. Not quite "don't miss" material, but I would strongly recommend.

I plan to pick this up from DD in the November sale. I figure it should be around 15 then after a price drop in the fall.

I don't think the film took advantage of it's wonderful idea. The idea behind the script is genius, but the director use it to tell another coming-of-age tale. There are some great scenes in it, and the main performance is a winner, but what a missed opportunity it was.

Now that Woody Allen makes wonderful thrillers, I bet he could simply DREAM a better movie with the same idea, than the one we got.

I thought this was very fun, especially the lead's performance. She had a great sense of comedy, especially early on.

The ending felt a bit anti-climatic, but I loved the brother's bizarre repression/fetish issues.

I agree that it could have been pushed further, but it hit most of the right notes for me.

Finally got around to watching this and enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually thought the brother's character was one of the funnier elements of the film, albeit in a rather tragic way. The performances are awesome for such an indie film. A rare case where the actors ability sells the idea of the story far more than any other aspect of the film...I would definitely add this to my collection.

Just watched this, and thought it was a lot of fun. It's funny how the first half hour is such an after school special, and then it just runs amuck.

Obviously the dog scene is one thing, but Dood, the crab playing with the dismemberment in the cave - lol!

Anyone notice a strong resemblance to Drew Barrymore in the very last shot before the end credits rolled?
