Are blu-ray discs region encoded? If not I think I might have to get these as it'll be years before they get a blu-ray release in the states.

The review discs sent out have been region coded A and B, so it's looking good.

The extras have been dropped from The Fog though.

What does that mean? They are region encoded?

That's great news! I'll probably import The Fog and They Live soon then.

Great news for us folks in Region A & B! Any reviews out there since they've been released?

In all honestly i really doubt that. I wouldn't be surprised if The Fog came out soon, as well as Escape by the end of the year as well. The Fog was released on HD, so I doubt they will take too much time to throw it out on Blu Ray. And I remember reading a rumour about Escape coming out this year as well.

Escape from New York (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14433389#post14433389) and They Live (http://www.dvdactive.com/reviews/dvd/they-live2.html) are both standard definition upconverts and The Fog (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=68323) is likely a port of the Studio Canal HD-DVD which was sourced from a PAL master so you get the 4% speed up pitch problem on the audio.

Has anyone seen any info comparing the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD versions of The Fog? I know the HD-DVD version has more audio/subtitle options. But I'm wondering if there's any difference in the video.

I'm going to wait on all 3 of these. I know for a fact that MGM has EFNY on tap for this year. They Live and The Fog might be a bit more off, but they're bound to come out at some point.
