Couldn't find a dedicated thread for this. I can't imagine this is news to anyone here (although it was to me).

I think this is just so unbelievably fucking wrong on so many levels. :fucked:

I just don't think this would work these days. The Rocky Horror film is such a product of the time it was released during (I meant that in a good way). I just don't think it'd work without the 70's sensibilities.

It will fail.

But interesting about this news is that this will be the first time in about 20 years that MTV and music will be connected.

I wonder if they realize this.

Is this the first time a film's been remade while it's still getting active theatrical distribution?

It'll be a hit, and we'll even get a direct sequel out of it unlike Shock Treatment.

I can't stand the original film, so a remake doesn't bother me.

which will feature new music

On the other hand I have to acknowledge that this is about as disrespectful as you can get. Rocky Horror without the original songs?!?!? God knows what they'll come up with instead, but they ought not do that.

I'd boycott MTV, but I haven't watched that channel in the past 15 years.

Hate the original and I already hate this one that hasn't been made.

LOL, same here :D Hard to believe it was actually pretty good for the first half of the '80s.

Hopefully it will bankrupt MTV right out of existence.

I actually attended a theatrical screening of ROCKY HORROR this past Friday, the first time I had seen it on a big screen, with a huge fan filled crowd (I was curious to see it like this once, couldn't say that I had been a major fan beforehand). The theater I saw it in is the third longest continuos running ROCKY venue in the U.S. and the fourth longest running in the world. It was packed and it was wild. Most of the crowd was actually quite young and they knew the film inside out.I cannot see fans that devoted ever going for this remake, ever. If it's gonna do well it will have to make it's money off of newbies because the already initiated will resist this with all of their fishnetted might.

I love the music but the films version of the songs was terrible, escecially Time warp.
