If you thought BCI's September slate was good with SAVAGE STREETS, BEYOND THE DOOR, and the masterpiece FINAL EXAM, then you'll no doubt be aroused by all the gems coming this October. Highlights include Code Red's SWEET SIXTEEN, nympho drive-in killer BLOOD MANIA, synth heavy slasher BLOOD SONG, two-disc STANLEY and a few more curiosities. It's going to be a great fall for vintage video lovers.

Here's the full slate:

October 14
SWEET SIXTEEN with theatrical and director's cuts, introduction and cast interviews
MAUSOLEUM/BLOOD SONG feat. commentary with star Bobbie Bresee
DRIVE-IN CULT CLASSICS VOL. 3 including BLOOD MANIA, and a bunch of Crown International exploitation fun including my favorite, MALIBU BEACH
GALAXIA/STAR CRASH

October 21
STANLEY two-disc special edition with multiple commentaries and docs
THE PAUL NASCHY COLLECTION box with all the previous stand alones

I've already pre-ordered Sweet Sixteen for I totally loved it since the first time I saw it, even in a horrid downloaded VHS rip.

But Starcrash in OAR and R1 is a sweet temptation. :)

Definitely will be picking Stanley, Mausoleum/Blood Song, Sweet Sixteen, and Galaxina/Starcrash. The two disc edition of Stanley was the best surprise for me! :D I love snake horror films and have wanted to see this for a long time.

I would rather see them release more Naschy films. I have all the BCI releases except for Werewolf's Shadow and Curse of the Devil. Too bad we won't be seeing more in their Spanish Horror Collection.

Their Grindhouse double features didn't interest me too, too much, but strangely now that they're being sold together as the Drive-In Cult Classics Collections for an insanely low srp, they are!

I have Blood Song already in a 2 disc set from BCI called Blood Bath 2, but I'll be picking this one up anyway. There are so much dvds in September and October that I want to buy!! :)

Wow! How many times will they release Malibu High (I edited the high part, because at I wrongly listed Malibu Beach instead) including the 8 movie set? (second 8 movie set it was included in) Actually the double feature was to be out months ago as a Welcome to the Grindhouse... But they changed it to Exploitation... (see pic)

Don't you mean Malibu High, at least from the pictures you posted? :) That's the one that's been released a couple of times now by BCI.

Unless I'm mistaken, Malibu Beach looks like it'll debut from BCI in that Drive-In Cult Classics Volume 3. I have the old Rhino disc, which appears to be the coverart you posted.

I bought one of these 8-packs before and wasn't very impressed, but I guess they're budget priced for a reason. Both discs looked like they'd be dragged over concrete after I opened the package, and it was only a miracle they played without errors. They packed two movies on each single-layer side of the discs...so compression was most evident.

Also, they released Pom Pom Girls in one of those 8-movie sets and used a really crappy worn print, while they used a pristine film print in the double-feature disc it's included on. Go figure.

Actually the double feature was to be out months ago as a Welcome to the Grindhouse... But they changed it to Exploitation...

I don't really understand this unless it's re-issue artwork. I already purchased the Malibu High / Trip with the Teacher double feature last year (a 9/11/2007 release date) and it definitely says "Welcome to the Grindhouse" on the covers. You can see it in my DVD collection link.

Whoops, I meant Malibu High like you said. And I also wrongly posted a picture of Malibu Beach.

I'll take the picture off, Katatonia.
Thanks.

Your right. They still are selling the dvd with the Welcome to the Grindhouse Actually its about $1-2 cheaper and you can get it now without waiting for Oct. Very strange...

Drive-in Cult Classics volume 2 was released this week and they changed the format. Instead of sticking two films per single layer side, it is now a 4 disc set with one film per single layer side. I imagine this will continue with volume 3.

That's a good thing, at least they won't be so compressed now hopefully. I saw it in Hastings yesterday, but shook it and could tell at least one disc was loose and jangling all about in the keepcase.

The transfers on this new set are quite good. The film with Donald Pleasance and Peter Cushing (name escapes me at the moment) looks the worse, but I believe that's due to actual negative/print issues. The Creeping Terror print is from 16MM, but looks pretty decent. The movies that are widescreen are anamorphic.

I plan to get THE UNSEEN, BEYOND THE DOOR, STANLEY, SAVAGE STREETS, FINAL EXAM, MAUSOLEUM/BLOOD SONG Double Feature, CEMETERY GIRLS/VAMPIRE HOOKERS Double Feature, and SWEET SIXTEEN.

I recently picked up THE DEAD PIT 2-Disc Unrated Director's Cut, which is an awesome release. I still need to get SOLE SURVIVOR. That one is high up on my list.

It seems like it has, if not cancelled; as it's been removed from most online stores.

Thanks! I was wondering whether or not the dvd was uncut, which this review now confirms.

The Stanley edition rocks. I wish I could have been at the New Beverly that night. Talked on and off with Grefe throughout the years and hopefully he'll make it up to Cinema Wasteland in April. He'd be perfect for the Grindhouse Memories panel.
Both Starcrash and Galaxina are available. I got my Starcrash from Oldies.com for like $5. Would be kind of nice to see them both together in a drive in format though. Going to have Cozzi sign my DVd insert soon.
