Anyone Else Go To The Monster Mania Horror Convention?

Wow, I just got back from the Monster Mania Horror Convention!! It was a Great Time!! This was a Great Show and the turnout was Really Great, alot of people showed up!!

I got to meet Lisa Wilcox who is Beautiful and Super Sweet!! I LOVE A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, I LOVE this Film!! I could watch it over and over always find something new to love about it!! So, meeting Lisa who played Alice was a Dream Come True for me!! She was So Great and she listened to me talk about how much I love her and the Film!! I got a picture taken with her!! She signed my Nightmare 4 Record Album!! She also told me that she loved my 'Dream Master' T Shirt and she told me that she was always looking but she could never find a T Shirt like that!! I even told her about the Rock N' Shock Horror Convention in Worcester MA and she had never even heard about it but she was exicted to find out about it and she said I might see her there!! I laughed and said that 'It all happened here if I do see her there and she ends up going to it.'!! So, that was Terrific and I spent alot of time talking with her about Horror Movies and her Films in general!!

I also got to meet John Saxon who is one of my all time Favorite Actors and a Horror Idol for me!! I got to talk to him about his Horror Movies including the Nightmare On Elm Street Films and Blood Beach!! I also asked him what were some of his favorite Horror Films that he has made and he told me that he loves Black Christmas!! I love it too I told him!! I also talked to him about some of the All Time Great Directors that he worked with over the years and he told me he loved working with Wes Craven and Dario Argento!! He said Argento is a 'Wild and Intense' Director but he is Great man to work with!! He mentioned Tenebrae which I love!! I also asked him about an Italian Mob Movie called I Kiss The Hand and I told him that I have been searching for it for a long time but I don't think it is on Video or DVD. He said he remembers making it but he has never seen it on Video or DVD either!! I got a picture with him and a Great Autograph Picture of him as well!! A Great Day to meet One Of My Horror Heroes!! He is truly a Great Actor and a Great Guy!!:)

I got to meet Heather Langenkamp who is a Sweetheart!! She looks Great!! She looks the same as she did when she starred in the very first Nightmare Movie!! She went out of her way to talk with me about anything and everything!! I got a few pictures with her and she signed my Femme Fatales Magazine!! The Great Thing about this was that little did I know that while I was talking to her about everything from Just The Ten Of Us to the Nightmare Movies to Horror Movies they were filming us for a Nightmare On Elm Street Documentary!! How Great is that!!??!! The Producer came up to me afterwards and had me sign a release form to use me in the Film!!!! This was So Amazing!!!!

I wanted to meet Robert Enlgund one more time and get him to sign my Record Album and My Magazine but the line to get to meet him was insane!! It doesn't surprise me though, I knew there would be a ton of Horror Fans wanting to meet Robert Englund!! Maybe at the next Horror Show!! I wanted to meet Bruce Campbell as well but his line was crazy as well!! Maybe next time!!

The Dealer Room was Huge and Really Great!! I got some Rare Horror Magazines like Fangorias and Femme Fatales!! I also picked up the OOP VHS Movie Witchtrap with Linnea Quigley which I had always wanted to add to my collection!! I also picked up the Original OOP MCA VHS Movie of Nightmares for $2, this was a Great Deal!! The DVD goes for over $60 on Ebay and Amazon!! I also picked up two Really Wild and Cool Horror Collectibles!! I picked up a Horror Art 3-D Poster of the Original A Nightmare On Elm Street that you can hang on the wall or set up and stand up to display on it's own!! I also picked up a Horror Art 3-D Poster of the Original Friday The 13TH Movie that you can hang on the wall or set up and stand up!!

This was a Great Horror Convention!! All in all, I really had a Blast!! I hope that Monster Mania comes back to CT again very soon!! This is one the Best Horror Movie Conventions that I have been to!!

I was there as well. Lisa Wilcox couldn't have been anymore beautiful and sweet. She looked exactly the same as she did in the Dream Child (same blond hair). My wife was able to talk one of the security guards out of a Bruce Campbell ticket (one of 400 - that's it). She got him to sign my DVD cover (after getting the three wonderful ladies and Hal Delrich to sign it) while I waited the two hours to meet Robert Englund. Great time, great convention.

I was there for my first MM convention and had a great time. It got off to a bit of a rough start, though. I went yesterday and went straight to the line to wait for Robert Englund at around 4:00 right after I got off of work. There was only about 20 or so people ahead of me, so I was pumped. Well, that was only the beginning of a LONG wait, which admittedly was exacerbated hugely by the fact that Robert's plane was apparently delayed by about 2 hours. Four and a half hours later, I finally got to meet him and get the autograph. He was a really nice guy and if anybody is worth that kind of wait it would be him. There weren't any line problems with anybody else, which was great. Betsy Palmer was also very personable, and Steve Dash and CJ Graham were as well. I have to say that the most down to earth and easy to talk to of the bunch was Derek Mears-what an incredible dude and a true fan of the genre himself as well. Bruce Campbell was OK, I guess, but in stark contrast to Englund, you got STRICT instructions from staff including no posed photos (a staff member could take a picture from the side that Bruce would not even look at the camera for), one item only to be signed (which required a post it note with the name to sign it to and also the note had to be placed in the area of the photo to be signed), and at most 15-30 seconds with Bruce before you were ushered away. The signature was an illegible scribble with the heading "Hey ___(your name)". None of the other stars there were remotely this short with the fans or obviously did not really care to take a minute to meet the people who made them famous. Not impressed, Bruce.
Again though, overall this was a great show-sorry to bitch about the couple of bad spots. I do hope they come back to Connecticut soon, as I will certainly be excited to go.

I was there yesterday for about 2 hours...pretty fun show...got to meet all the ladies of the evil dead and Hal Delrich...they were all really nice plus only charged $5 apiece to sign my poster...very cool...since I was prepared to pay $20 apiece.
Amanda Wyss was the highlight for me...I had here sign my Elm Street one sheet as well as my Force Five One Sheet (this was her first movie, and she seemed to get a kick out of seeing it.)
John Saxon was the person I was most excited to meet, and he was great to talk to. We spent a few minutes talking about Black Christmas while he signed my posters.
I also stopped and got sigs from Ronnie Blakely, Charles Fleischer, the hall pass girl from Elm Street (whose name escapes me right now) and Ron Milke.
I had already met pretty much everyone there...and I agree with what others said...Lisa Wilcox is a class act all the way...very appreciative of her fan base and alot of fun to talk to. Heather Langenkamp, Betsy Palmer, and all the Jasons are all quite nice as well.
I am really glad I did not have to deal with the madness that was Englund's or Campbell's lines. I met Englund last year...which was great...and I met Bruce at a work function about 10 years ago. Kinda bummed Jsu Garcia (Nick Corri) did not show, but oh well.
Overall this was a very mellow and fun show. Seemed pretty quiet on Friday...glad to hear that they had a good crowd today!

I mostly spent my day in the Q+A rooms and saw everybody speak (except Jason Mewes, but I still caught the last 5 minutes of him) up to Bruce Campbell, when we then left for home. All of the speakers were really entertaining, except maybe for Tony Moran who seemed like kind of a goof. It was interesting to see Chris Sarandon cringe at the mention of the Sentinel and call Michael Winner, the director, an asshole. Nice guy. They were ALL nice guys. The only autograph I got was from Ricou Browning. I had a ticket for Bruce but didn't use it. I love Bruce and all, but I didn't want to miss any of the Q&As and I don't worship ANYBODY enough to stand in line for 2 hours just for 30 seconds and pay $30+ for a signature.
I went with $200 in spending money but left with only a $20 T-Shirt, a $25 Ricou sig, and a $20 Lemora DVD which I probably could've gotten for cheaper online but my wife wanted so what the hell.

Monstermania was AWESOME! Waaaaay better than Rock and Shock. It was great to be able to walk around without my feet killing me from stepping on concrete all day long. The venue was like Supermegafest only the hallways were wider and thus less cramped. I'm really tempted to make an extended trip down to Jersey for another one if the right guests are booked (like Angus Scrimm). I'd go to one in August but it's too close by and I've already got plans made (not to mention the money factor).

Just got back from MMC-1, and my girl and I had a GREAT time. We arrived late Saturday and went to purchase tickets for Sunday, and they allowed us to partake in the Q&A panels, the f13 was a riot, (they even let Jason Mewes sit in on the panel since he is "a Jason") Derek Mears was falling off his chair laughing at the answers the other panelists were giving. THis was much better than the ANOES panel, just a lot goofier, IMO.
Sunday was terrific, we were there early and we started with Robert Englund and once they started the line going, it took around 20-30 minutes tops, he was fantastic!! Charming, insightful with great stories, and is such a fan of film himself. EricAngelus suggested I take in Englund even if the wait was long because he gives you quality time when you get to him, very true, thanks Eric!!
We hit "The Jasons" next and I got my black steel machete signed by the 4 in silver and it looks killer!!! (Next up Hodder, White, & Morga!!!)
Brooker seemed the least attentive, he did not stay at his table often it seemed. Steve Dash was great, friendly and a nice guy to talk with. Big tip of the hat to CJ Graham who my girlfriend and I had a nice long chat with, CJ was great and I look forward to meeting up with him again in the future!! Derek Mears was in a word AWESOME! Very down to earth and seemed genuinely pleased you wanted to meet him, and what a big SOB!!! Cant wait to catch up with him later this year. (If anyone has not had the chance to meet him, do yourself a favor, and go, you'll love him!)
Stopped and got to meet the last living legend of the "Universal Monsters" in Ricou browning, and was very nice to talk with him.
We then went to the dealer room for a bit and it was okay, a bit overwhelming, and I had to restrain not to buy everything I wanted!! We stopped by the room that Bruce Campbell was signing and there was very little wait, so we went back to the ticket booth and bought a ticket. We went back and waited 5 MINUTES tops, it was pretty funny this big room with a table on the side where you submited tickets and preped items and at the very end of the room sat Bruce, like the "Holy Grail" on a pedestal. I had him sign a Evil Dead one sheet and chatted a bit, seems like he was more engaging since there was no line so we got a few minutes longer than what the earlier folks were saying about their experience. Back to the Celeb room and We got The Ladies of the Evil Dead and Hal Delrich to sign and complete the cast poster!! (Even got Betsy Baker to do her trademark laugh!!!)
I had a Ex-Yugoslav movie poster of "Blood Beach" oredered but it did not come in in time for the con, so I ended up buying a "Battle Beyond the Stars" Japanese One sheet for John Saxon to sign. Gotta say his sig sucks, it seems his hand was shaky either with artiritis or something it was not that great, but the guy was a gem to talk with, a very nice man and it was sad to see him struggle with a simple task. (He seemed impressed with the BBTS one-sheet as he was showing it off to Ronnie Blakely and Heather Lagenkamp.) Finally we got to meet the wonderful Betsy Palmer and she was a joy as well. We got some great picture taken with them all and they were very gracious of the fans, a real pleasurable experience.

We got a chance to meet the great Cortlund Hull and see some of his amazing statues from the "Witch's Dungeon." This is a guy that is not out to make a buck but to spread joy to fellow horror hounds. The turn out was pretty light, and many of the dealers were saying that they were not making much money, and that the show did not get much advertising plus it was a new venue, if Dave continues to do the CT show, I am sure it will get a larger crowd as it becomes more well known. The fact that the dealers weren't raking in the bucks allowed to work better deals, but aside from a few thing I bought to get signed, I only bought a few DVDs (Town that Dreaded Sundwon, Hospital Massacre, & Halloween 6 Producers Cut_ so that should tell you what they were...) a one-sheet of "Lo Spettro" with Barbara Steele (planning ahead to that Cherry Hill show) and some autogpraphed 8x10s of other celebs.
Really enjoyed this show, hope they continue this venue, and will be saving up for Cherry Hill in August.

I've been to the one in Cherry Hill the last 3 years in a row and always have a great time (even though I hardly get any autographs, still don't like the fact that I have to pay people to write their name).

I probably won't be making it to this years though. I have a new girlfriend who isn't into the whole thing and I think we're going to go to Cape Cod instead.
