Wow, a definite shame. He owned The Wicker Man with his performance. Another overlooked horror film that he starred in was 1982's The Appointment, which I have on VHS.

R.I.P.

Damn, and I had a local mob boss who was threatening me, and he was the only person I could call to even things out.

But I doubt he's really dead. Never believe anything you hear about techno-mages, especially regarding their deaths.

R.I.P.

That guy was a great actor. The first season of The Equalizer is one of my all time favorite shows. Not too long ago I was laughing my ass off at his performance in Hot Fuzz. He will be missed.

You know I haven't seen the show in a long time, but now and again, I just need to listen to the intro. It used to make me think, amercia must be so dangerous, stay away from the subways!

I thought Edward Woodward was kinda like a great authority figure in that show, when I was young, he blended the role of cool and authroity teacher charisma very well.

He always seemed a very strong healthy man as he got older.
Sad to hear of his passing,
I think he would mind a great M in the james bond films.

I need to rewatch equalizer sometime.

I never really looked into the wickerman, will sometime, I remember him in it. But for me, the equalizer is where I remember him the most for, and initially I was looking for this thread in the offtopic forum.

Great actor, sad to hear it, best of spiritual journeys wherever you are now Sir.

This is really sad. I used to watch THE EQUALIZER with my Mom. I remember she thought he was "so handsome" and my Dad would glare at the TV over the top of his newspaper. Years later I discovered THE WICKER MAN and thought he was absolutely amazing. It's too bad that I never saw more of his work.

wow, thats a real shame. listening to him speak on the commentaries for Hot Fuzz and the Wicker Man, he seemed like just a really great guy. humble and polite, like so many of those great hammer-era stars. maybe its just cause he was british. i dunno. a swell guy and a great actor.

*sigh*
there goes another one.

A favorite of mine and a fantastic actor. He was superb in the Australian classic BREAKER MORANT and his turn in THE WICKER MAN was outstanding.I loved THE EQUALIZER and have been trying to catch up to his earlier British spy series CALLAN recently. He had a great voice and an incredible presesence on the screen.Rest In Peace,God Bless.

That sucks. Strangely enough I was watching Wicker Man a few days ago on Fearnet and his performance still captivates me. A great actor who will be sorely missed.
