So the "proper" commentary will soon become a highly sought-after item I guess.
But yeah what a bullshit answer. It literally tells you nothing that you don't already know.
This is pretty much the question you ask yourself when you hear the commentary: "Hey, there must be some issue because part of the commentary has been removed."
His response: "Some of the commentary had to be removed due to some issues."
His response just re-arranges your thoughts and literally tells you absolutely nothing.
*EDIT: Wait, sorry, "some possible issues". What does that even mean?
~Matt
Probably a copyright or defamation thing. What were they talking about just before the silence?
MisterTwister

Other than that issue I'm satisfied with the set. Great documentary on the making of all 3 films and the first film is still as fun as ever.

Yeah I figured that, but it's just a stupid way of addressing the fact.

I guess it is a good thing I don't really listen to commentaries.
But this sucks for the fans who do. Especially those of us who are fans of Juliette from this, Deadly Dreams, Friday The 13th V, Psycho III, etc.
I'm really excited about the Sleepless Nights documentary though!

I just checked mine, purchased from Shout. Juliette Cummins and editor are introduced on pt 2's commentary. Pt 3's introduces the editor. Sorry to all who got the muted commentaries. I'd ask Shout, they might replace them to the worthy fans, especially MisterTwister who must have been the first to notice/contact them on the weird issue.

I looked through the past couple pages and didn't see this, but Shout is offering on their online store all of the Corman blus together for $99.99 with free shipping. That's a really good deal for those who haven't snagged them yet.

Funny thing is I thought it was just some misinformation on the part of Avmaniacs. My bad!
So the editor has been muted out as well? Bogus! Neither the story editor and Miss Cummins appear in the doc, so something fishy must be going on.
I emailed Shout Factory again, asking for replacements. Come on SF. I'm loyal fan. Please deliver!
EDIT: Letting those who have the same set as me that Part 1's commentary has everyone on that should be there. So that one is not muted.

Got an email back from Shout and...
Hi,
Some of the commentary had to be removed after the fact due to some possible issues.
It was an unfortunate situation.
Sorry for the inconvience.

Yep, I got the same exact email from them earlier. :( It doesn't really explain much though...

Alright so I placed an order with AxelMusic. Hopefully it'll be one of the copies with the commentary intact. Otherwise, whatever. I'm not gonna bust my balls trying to track down the full commentary.
Btw, where does AxelMusic ship from? They're a European company, no? All their prices are in Euros, but when you go to checkout it gives you the option of giving you the total in either US or CAD dollars. I know some European sites do this, but shipping was so cheap. There's no way they can ship from Europe for like $3. If so, this is gonna take months to get here lol. Oh well.

It seems to be that everyone here thus far received the unedited version from them?

So one of the members of my site's forum and a buddy of mine edited the hour-long documentary on the SPM collection, and after mentioning this issue, he said he actually knows the reason considering they weren't allowed to use either of them for the doc. So there's definitely some reason why this has happened, although it still seems bizarre that they would voluntarily sit down for the commentary, then Shout! would have discs pressed and go to retail with the full commentaries, and then have to go back and edit them. If I find anything out and get the go ahead, I'll let everyone know. Certainly interesting shit...

I was suspicious about it from the beginning. Tony Brown posted everyone that would be involved with the documentary on his site awhile back and neither of them were on that list. So when I read AVmaniacs review I thought it was mistake and assumed they meant the other actress from SPM 2 (her name escapes me, she's in the doc).
Looks like there isn't anything we can do about it but I'm still satisfied with the collection. The first movie's commentary track is pretty good and worth a listen.
The SLUMBER PARTY set is terrific. 3 movies plus extras for under $20. Great job!

I'm new here, but I love the SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE series and came across your forum through google because of this DVD release. Just read this entire conversation here and there's some great info. Seems like a cool forum here.
I bought a new copy of this DVD set a few days before streetdate at a local store that had it in the used section. It was new but it had a hole on the back cover (a cut-out), but it's the same as a real copy otherwise. Best news, though, is that the commentaries are complete and intact on this copy. I'm guessing that these were early promo-review copies that were pressed first to go out to magazines or websites, so if you come across one with the punch-hole, you should get one with the full commentaries.

Basically what I'm being told (was asked not to air things out, and it's not my place anyway) is the discs that went out to reviewers and some that made it to retail with the full commentaries should have never been pressed and it was a mistake. The full commentaries should never have been included due to some unforeseen issues. Behind the scenes stuff on just producing content for DVD releases is just as insane as being on an actual movie set, it seems.

I wonder if the comments made about Roger Corman being a bit of a hard ass/insisting on beginning the movies with nudity, etc had anything to do with it. Aside from that,I don't recall anything controversial being discussed.
In any case,I'm glad to have the complete commentaries intact, but it doesn't make a great deal of difference to me either way.
Its more of a curiosity thing, ( not to mention my thinking that MisterTwister was nuts, or at best hard of hearing when he insisted Juliette Cummins was nowhere to be found ;) )that even kept me reading about it.

Ordered my copy of The Slumber Party Massacre Collection from Shout! on Tuesday and it arrived today along with the pillowcase. I checked the disc and it seems to have the complete commentary track for SPM2, it's got all the introductions (didn't listen much past that, I just wanted check against the mp3 that was uploaded). "... as the group starts getting attacked by an unknown killer in the second, and last, installment, Slumber Party Massacre III"
If we were talking sequels, then this would be the second one.
If we are talking installments, isn?t this the third? Or do we read an installment as a sequel?

I thought it might have something to do with getting it to your door on release day.I ordered Slumber Party and The Evil/Twice Dead at the same time and the shipping was $27.50.The latter was apparently late because the shipped SPM by itself at a slower method and then shipped the other priority and they both arrived on the same day(release day) but were delivered by different courier companies.

I received my 2nd copy of the Slumber Party Massacre Collection direct from Shout Factory yesterday. It included the pillowcase.
I can confirm that I did get the unedited commentaries! :) Juliette Cummins is definitely heard in the commentary on this one.
The Disc ID of the 2nd disc is different than the edited disc. The unedited disc is also authored on 8/1/2010. The edited disc is authored later on 9/5/2010.
The Disc ID's of the 1st disc in the set are identical in both the edited and unedited versions of the set...so obviously it's the same disc content on both.
I went ahead and also ordered (in a seperate order) the The Warrior and The Sorceress / Barbarian Queen DVD from Shout. That one truly must be a direct exclusive, because it never has shown up elsewhere to pre-order.

The full commentary was not suppose to be released to the public as it "slipped through the cracks", yet customers who purchase directly through Shout! are the ones getting full commentaries?

I think Shout probably just got the first pressing of the set in stock and haven't sold out as yet, and some of the unedited sets obviously did manage to get out to other retailers too.
There's really just no way to tell from the actual packaging or disc labels themselves whether a particular set contains the unedited or edited discs. It seems like they're now all mixed up in the distribution chain, and short of Shout actually opening every package and playing every 2nd disc...

IN STORES NATIONWIDE DECEMBER 7, 2010 FROM SHOUT! FACTORY
This holiday season, get ready to fire-up with the action from four explosive Roger Corman gangster classics when Shout! Factory, in association with New Horizons Picture Corporation, unleashes the Big Bad Mama/ Big Bad Mama II Double-Feature Collector’s Edition DVD and Crazy Mama/ The Lady In Red Double-Feature Collector’s Edition DVD on December 7, 2010. A must-have for loyal fans, these two pairs of Roger Corman’s Cult Classics double-feature DVD sets boast new Anamorphic widescreen movie presentation with loaded extras. Aggregate your Roger Corman’s Cult Classics with these two double-feature collector’s edition DVD sets. Each set is sold separately with $19.93 SRP.
The Big Bad Mama/Big Bad Mama II double-feature collector’s edition showcases Angie Dickinson (Dressed to Kill, TV’s Police Woman) at her toughest and sexiest, in one of her signatures roles.
None bigger, none badder, and none more beautiful than Angie Dickinson as Big Bad Mama!
During the Depression, Wilma McClatchie (Dickinson) finds that there is no money to be made in the bootlegging business, but a chance meeting with bank robber Fred Diller (Tom Skerritt, Top Gun, TV’s Picket Fences) leads to a new career — in crime!
Along with her daughters (Robbie Lee and Susan Sennett), Wilma joins Fred on his next big heist. After meeting slick gambler/con-man William J. Baxter (William Shatner, Star Trek, TV’s Boston Legal), Wilma recruits him and the rest of her gang to kidnap a millionaire’s daughter in hopes of collecting a big ransom.
Big Bad Mama also stars Sally Kirkland (Anna, In the Heat of Passion), Noble Willingham (City Slickers 1 & 2, The Last Boy Scout), cult favorite Dick Miller (The Howling, Gremlins 1 & 2) and Royal Dano (The Trouble With Harry, The Dark Half).
The ongoing cult popularity of Big Bad Mama prompted Roger Corman to fashion a follow-up remake more than a dozen years later. As gorgeous as ever, Angie Dickinson agreed to reprise her role as the pistol-packin’, hard-lovin’ Wilma McClatchie in Big Bad Mama II.
Joined again by her two beautiful daughters (Danielle Brisbois and Playboy Playmate Julie McCullough), Wilma’s out to steal a better life for herself. The sexy trio sets their (gun) sights on revenge against a crooked politician (Bruce Glover, Diamonds Are Forever, Ghost Town) by robbing his banks and kidnapping his son. Along the way, they’re joined by a resourceful newspaper reporter (Emmy® nominee Robert Culp, TV’s I Spy and The Greatest American Hero) who becomes part of the gang … and becomes Mama’s favorite!

When Big Bad Mama hit it big at the box office, producers Roger Corman and Julie Corman decided to go the distance for more thrills – better and crazier!
Directed by future Academy Award® winner Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia), Cloris Leachman (The Last Picture Show, Young Frankenstein) stars in Crazy Mama as Melba Stokes, a middle-aged woman who runs a beauty parlor with her mother Sheba (Academy Award® nominee Ann Southern, The Whales of August) and teenage daughter Cheryl (Linda Purl, Visiting Hours). When the shop falls into foreclosure and is repossessed, the three ladies take a wild road trip from California to the family home in Arkansas that turns into a crime spree.
Crazy Mama also stars Academy Award® nominee Stuart Whitman (The Mark, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines), Donny Most (TV’s Happy Days) and Jim Backus (TV’s Gilligan’s Island, Rebel Without a Cause).
Pamela Sue Martin (The Poseidon Adventure, TV’s Dynasty) makes a startling transition into grown up roles, in the title role of The Lady in Red. All her life, Polly Franklin wanted to see her name in lights. Yet her dreams were constantly dashed and she frequently wound up in trouble. From sweatshop worker to dancehall girl, from prisoner to prostitute, Polly lived a hard, often harrowing, life. Then she fell for John Dillinger (Robert Conrad, Jingle All the Way, TV’s Wild Wild West), the much-feared bank robber and killer who was declared “Public Enemy Number 1” by the FBI.
It was Polly who wore the infamous red dress on that fateful July evening in 1934 Chicago, when she and Dillinger went to the movies at the Biograph Theatre. It is there that Polly found the fame she had so long craved — although not in the way she desired.
With a hard-edged script rooted in history by two-time Academy Award® nominee John Sayles (Eight Men Out, Lone Star), The Lady in Red is a gritty crime saga with a unique point of view. It explores the mystery behind one of the most notorious “ladies” of her time.
Produced by Julie Corman and directed by Lewis Teague (Alligator, Cujo), the film’s star-studded cast includes Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Cheap Detective), Christopher Lloyd (Piranha 3-D, the Back to the Future trilogy, TV’s Taxi), cult favorite Dick Miller (Big Bad Mama, Gremlins 1 & 2) and, in a special appearance, Academy Award® nominee Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, Alligator, The Delta Force).

I popped in my Evil/Twice Dead double feature this morning. I watched The Evil and thought it was pretty good up until the ridiculous ending. I started to watch Twice Dead, but the disc froze up at the 3 minute mark. Guess I have to return it Amazon and wait for a new copy.
That sounds like a possible layer change problem. I did notice a brief layer change a few minutes into Twice Dead, but it played fine in my player. You might want to try it in another DVD player if possible.
I agree, the ending was a little ridiculous and unneeded in The Evil. And the director mentions he was against it in the audio commentary. But as often happens, it was insisted upon by the money people.
The Twice Dead commentary is also a blast, as is the Jill Whitlow interview on the disc. I forgot all about Charlie Spradling's topless/sex scene in this one!
I should receive the Warrior and The Sorceress / Barbarian Queen DVD either today or tomorrow. It was rather pricey coming direct from Shout; but it looks like it's an exclusive there, for now anyways.

I received The Warrior and the Sorceress & Barbarian Queen DVD in the mail yesterday from Shout Factory.
The packaging is the same style as the previous Corman DVD double features from Shout, in a clear keepcase with dual-sided artwork.
Both films are presented in 16x9 widescreen (progressive encoded), and look great upconverted. Barbarian Queen looks the best of the two however. Definition is sharp and colors are vibrant. Print damage and artifacts are minimal. They both definitely look far better than the transfers on the older DVD releases.
The Warrior and the Sorceress curiously appears to be several minutes longer than the version of the film on the old DVD released back in 2002. The running time on the old DVD was 1:17:39, and the running time on this new release is 1:21:33. It's most definitely a different cut of the film, and one difference I've noticed is in the opening credits where the writing credits are displayed slightly different.
Extras include the original trailers (full frame) for each film.
There are also bonus trailers (full frame) for Deathstalker I & II, and also Streets and Angel in Red.
And... it's not even listed on their website or the back cover, but there are 10 minutes of deleted & extended scenes (full frame) from Barbarian Queen. There are a couple of interesting deleted scenes that resolve an obvious plothole (the hired slave spy) that has always been in the film. The others are extended scenes with more dialogue, blood/gore and sexuality/nudity.

I ordered the SPM collection last Friday, but I just got an email that it didn't ship until Tuesday. Since it was unavailable on the website from Monday to Tuesday, I'm wondering if this later batch is going to have the edited commentary. I'll be sure to check in here once I have the answer.
Same with me. Just my luck I'll end up with two edited copies!:bs:

Alright, just got my dvd today from Shout and I'm happier than a pig in shit because it's the un-edited version! First thing I did was pop in part 2 and play with commentary and sure enough Juliette Cummins is on it!

Is there anything that is particularly interesting or scandalous on this commentary (for those of you who have listened to it)? I got my copy from Amazon a week or so ago, but I haven't opened it to check it out yet. Odds are it's probably the edited one, but I don't find myself caring much as I hardly listen to commentaries anymore....UNLESS of course there's something really wild on there. Anyone?

Yup, 2nd copy from Shout! Factory is un-edited.
i was wondering the same thing myself. I'm stoked that it's un-edited... but what could be so bad, so scandalous, that they would cut her out?
Somebody please listen to the full commentary and let us all know!

Yeah, I didn't notice anything overtly controversial in the unedited commentaries. It was entirely other reason(s) why the two people got completely edited out of the commentaries, but I'll say no more there.
You certainly miss quite a bit in the "edited" commentaries though, since the people in question had to be edited out...and by consequence the other participants sometimes were as well.

Well, two whole people are removed of course. Which takes out a lot of conversation I'd assume (I haven't listened to the commentaries, but I do have the unedited) and would take a while to explain exactly what's missing from the edited version.
Have patience, I'm sure there's some cinephile with both copies and the time to note all the differences somewhere on the internet.

*face-palm* Apparently I need to pay more attention. I thought all this time that I had an edited copy because I didn't hear anything controversial. I also remember hearing a few clicks and pops. Me, personally, I think trying to hunt down an Unedited copy would be futile, because we really don't know how many copies there were officially of the unedited copy, and it was a okay commentary, and I do have the Unedited commentary, but there are a few commentaries that I have listened to more than once, like the Cast Commentary of Re-Animator, it never gets old, and the commentary on Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness.

LOL @ springjack. I,too found both Sorority movies to be pretty terrible. It may have to do with the first being pretty heavily -cut,which definitely tends to throw a wet blanket over the fire. There is some cheesy fun to be had, (the borrowed clothes montage, bad one-liners like "Its time to put some 'wow' in this pow-wow",guessing whether the lead is male or female), but ultimately its kind of a snooze-fest. Very little nudity, even less gore, two obviously crucial slasher staples when you're leaning toward the Bs.
Aside from Robyn Harris' performance, the sequel,(as well as Hard To Die), belongs in the dumpster as well. Her attractiveness and flagrant abuse of Orville Ketchum's bloated ass makes watching the end worthwhile enough, however. They should have kept the supernatural nonsense out of both, and ran with the slasher angle. That was why (for me ) SPM 3 worked.

Yes, the commentary for part II and II had to be edited.
Juliette Cummins and the editor had to be removed because of some "issues".
I know what the "issues" are but I cannot say them as a request of some members of this forum.

Shout Factory didn't release these films because they like us. They are a company that plans on making money. Whether we piss them off has no bearing on future releases. Most of us paid money for our copy of SPM so we aren't indebted to Shout either. That said, I respect your decision to keep quite and would do the same. Hopefully this will clear up some air on the commentary issue. While it's still vague as the person that told me (not a member here) asked me not to air it out, and it's not my place anyway, I think this gives some more info other than there were "issues and circumstances beyond out control", which is all Shout! is willing to say.
The story behind the commentaries is basically just the same old Hollywood bullshit you've heard about on film sets. Old grudges and bad blood are the main reasons. Even if that hurdle had been overcome, this would have been ultimately recalled/edited as somehow a release wasn't signed by one of the people that has been edited out, so the original batch of discs probably shouldn't have even been pressed. I'm guessing that little legal snafu slipped between the cracks and was realized a bit too late after the first batch of discs had gone into production.
And that's really all I fell okay saying without being given the okay. I don't think this paints anyone involved in a bad light, but it gives some idea as to why it had to be done.

As I also understand. It happens often that I got some inside also because of my good relations with some dvd label owner, but I never reveal anything unless I got the ok to do so. It's just a question of credibility and trust, those relations are important and loosing a friend because you want to wrote an exclusivity on your blog (or a forum in this case) doesn't worth it.

What I find most disappointing about this is that no one outside this forum is talking about it. I’ve been regularly googling this issue since it arose and have found less than a handful of mentions. SPM is “the slasher” from my youth and looking at forums over the past couple of years its clearly recognized by most fans of the genre. So why is it that only a dozen people have mentioned that the commentaries are chopped to pieces? I know one explanation might be that very few people actually listen to commentaries. But I’m starting to get the feeling that SPM might not be as popular as I always believed and maybe sales are far from impressive. bummer

Like you said, maybe few people actually listen to commentaries.
Also, I think this title is still very obscure to many people.
I also grew up in the era of slasher and have seen a bunch but don?t forget that when many people hear about slashers only the mainstream ones are mentioned.

All I can even begin to guess at is that with the budget being so low, and the popularity of the title upon its video release, it's probably a pay dispute. That helps me sleep better at night thinking it has to do with money so I can lay it to rest.
I bought a 2nd copy through Shout! Factory's website to get the uncut commentary, having never even seen the sequel. That being said, SPM part Deux was so horrible, I seriously doubt I will ever even listen to the commentary. The movie made me want to gouge my eyes out with a hot poker. I'd rather have hooks stuck through my manboobs and hung from jungle trees by natives than sit through it again.
I think most people could agree, the movie hits a low point in one particular scene involving music... I don't want to give it away, but I was ready to take the disc out and break it.

Yeah SPM 2 isn't a "good" movie, yet I really like it. Cheesy as hell the way I like 'em and I happen to be quite a Juliette Cummins fan!

Definitely. Yeah it's a goofy movie, but it's been one of my favorites since first seeing it in the late-80's. The old VHS of mine used to get a lot of repeat viewings.
I love the atmosphere of the film, the 80's soundtrack, the characters, the driller killer's one-liners, etc..

Agreed 100%. Love the killer's one liners and 50's rockabilly look. I guess being a child of the 80's helps me appreciate it more.

OK, I'm sorry, now I feel bad. I know I have my share of guilty pleasures that other people would find unwatchable (i.e. "The Lonely Lady" starring one Ms. Pia Zadora!). I think I was just mad that I spent around $40 to buy it twice expecting a lot more. The 1 nude scene was awful too -- awkward!! So if I had to say something nice about it, Crystal Bernard looked good with her acid washed jeans pulled up almost to her chest.

There could also be many who listened to the commentary and didn't realize it was cut. Maybe they just got done with a Tim Burton comm. track, then watched SPM2 and think all commentaries have huge gaps of silence.:eek1:

And I disagree. It requires more than a sense of humor to appreciate SPM2. Boat loads of nostalgia and a lobotomy for a start. I like the rockabilly killer. He accounts for 5 minutes of something interesting on screen. The criminally boring first half and annoying characters like T.J. make SPM2 a chore. The killing doesn't start until the film is near over and the overall story isn't great either. It might have been saved if they would have gone High Tension with the ending, but instead it just peters out.

There's no nostalgia for me...saw it for the first time with this release and had an absolute blast. It's a masterpiece of ridiculous garbage. It takes a series that (outside of the comedy of the first) was destined to become a recycled ripoff and turns it on its head by doing something completely left of center and unique. We have enough formulaic slashers from the 80s, they're a dime a dozen. More producers should have had the balls to try gonzo shit like this.
To be quite honest, the first half of the original is a MUCH bigger chore to sit through. The last half is a lot of fun, but there isn't one thing in most of that film that I haven't seen a million times before, and done a lot better. If not for the aforementioned comedic elements and the jaw-dropping pizza scene, it honestly would have never stuck with me through the years and been lost to the dumping ground of my brain where I store most of the other shitty slashers that I grew up with and have become a big, jumbled blur.

Almost ordered the SP set, check yours when you get it please (if before sale ends), if it's unedited commentary I'm gonna try and get it too. I somehow doubt DD will have unedited, unless they had the price too high and may still have first runs sitting around the warehouse (probably underneath the new edited ones, only produce and perishables get rotated).

They better release "Sorority House Massacre", "Sorority House Massacre 2" and "Hard To Die" next year...
They were all on YouTube - uncut. First, they had semi-edited versions of SHM2 and Hard to Die up and they got taken down because the scene of Walter Paisley's naked wife ("pitcher of chi-chi's in the hottub") kinda snuck in there anyway. Then, another user put up the uncut versions and had 'em up for about 2 months.
They've been taken down. JUST over the weekend! I'm devastated. I have zero interest in the Slumber Party Massacre movies and the first Sorority House and that's basically all we're ever offered.
Terribly good...
I like them too, especially the sequel...so cheesy.Sorority House Massacre 2 is one of my favorite slashers. It knows what it is and fulfills the promises made by it's suggestive cover. It's far superior to the dreck that is the named Slumber Party Massacre sequels.
I am a psychotic fan of Sorority House Massacre II and Hard to Die. They were among the first slasher films I saw, I re-watched them about 50 times a piece (my VHS of the Cinemax showings from '94-95 is just about dead). I know them by heart. I can quote them!
I watched Sorority House Massacre 1+2 not too long ago and both were terrible. I thought the first SHM was boring and the second one, although it had some excellent nudity, was idiotic and didn't deliver gore wise.
You canNOT compare Jim Wynorski's Sorority House Massacre II with the first movie. The original film is a lukewarm leftover from the Prom Night days (and, if there could be such a thing, a fairly watered down version of something like The Initiation or Silent Night Deadly Night). Wynorski's films were of a completely different era. The direct-to-VHS cheapies that gave careers to the likes of Fred Olen Ray and David DeCoteau. Those movies probably couldn't afford real FX. They get by on charm alone.
It can't be denied that they're not really gory. But it has a cool kind of style all its' own. I can't think of another film like it. It kind of invented the blood-on-the-wall (instead of squirting from a visible open wound) splatter film. I LOVED that scene of Janey downstairs as a kid. You get the creepy build-up of a typical slasher film and it may not have delivered the pay-off you were looking for, but I really enjoyed the silliness of it. It's still stylish. Kind of like the blood spray in Tenebre. Guess you just have to sit back and enjoy the no-budget style of it all.
You have to admit one thing- Chuck Cirino's scores for both movies (SHM2 and Hard to Die) are amazing! I hum them all the time (drilled into my psyche). I'll admit they're not really made for serious slasher fans but aesthetically (and no, I'm not talking about the nudity), they're very attractive. Lots of darkness, creepy shadows, creaky doors. SHM2 is a fantastic "old spooky house" type flick. And I loved the supernatural stuff, Bloodthrill. Especially the wrong number scene. "Is Clive there? This is his wife. Put Clive on, please." "He's nawoht here...! He's nawht here!!" "I'm afraid he is, dear." Not exactly bone-chilling, but fun.

I've owned all 3 since they first came out on DVD, but that's cool that they've shown up again at decent prices.
I do see that they added some Munchies DVD's in stock, so I ordered one of those! A few bucks more expensive than the others...but still a good deal compared to what it usually sells for.

I ordered a copy of that right before it went out of print and it never arrived. I thankfully got my money back and was rather unhappy at the time. Then I rewatched it on YouTube and really disliked it. Glad I missed out on that opportunity. I remember enjoying it as a kid when I rented it but... wow, time is unkind to certain movies.
I can't believe they got Nadine Van Der Velde from Critters. And TheCutUp blogspot reviewer (http://thecutup.blogspot.com/2008/09/critters.html) never mentioned that.

Big news for MST3000 and Gamera fans!:
http://www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=8126
"Happy Turkey Day! This oughta wake you up from your Tryptofan-induced coma:
Two bit of news from our pals at Shout! Factory:
1. Early next year Shout will re-release two standalone episodes under the “Shout! Factory Select” label: episode 812- THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES and 517- THE BEGINNING OF THE END. Both are expected to have additional bonus material not seen on the previous releases, though that’s not confirmed. They should be available beginning in February, so preorders will likely go up around mid January.
Oh, and…there’s this… [brace yourself, but it won't do any good]
2. Shout officials tell us they have completely cleared ALL FIVE GAMERA MOVIES for MST3K release, and plan to put out a five-disc deluxe box set. That’s episodes 302- GAMERA, 304- GAMERA VS. BARUGON, 308- GAMERA VS. GAOS, 312- GAMERA VS. GUIRON and 316- GAMERA VS. ZIGRA. No word on when yet. We’ll let you know when we know."

Holy shit! I had wrote those off because Shout clearly stated repeatedly that the Gamera rights owners had no interest in doing these. I'm guessing Shout showed them the numbers and convinced them it was in both of their best interests. Too cool!
BTW, Volume XVI comes with one Thanksgiving Day's worth of bumpers. It's not impossible to put together your own Turkey Marathon for next year. :D

Thought I'd post some more info from that previous link of Nailwraps':Hey, gang– Happy Turkey Day! It was brought to my attention that I should come by to answer a couple questions and was absolutely thrilled to see the overwhelmingly positive responses to the announcements.
First off… The license owners didn’t soften up, per se. They actually handed over the rights to a company in the U.S. That company happened to be the same company that brokered the deal for us to license the original GAMERA titles. So, yeah… We didn’t win over the Japanese. We didn’t win over Mr. Frank. We simply saw an opportunity where we didn’t have to deal with either. And we took it.
Second… This set, tentatively titled “GAMERA VS. MST3K”, will be XXI. After all, the numbers really correspond to the sets, not to the themes. After all, wasn’t the 20th Anniversary set officially XIII? Or was it XII? Can’t remember…
No figurines. That would still require the permission of the Japanese owners. Don’t wanna go there. We can’t make “GAMERA toys.”
That’s about as far as we’ve gotten thus far. Still working on bonus material, etc.
Thanks again, guys and gals!
