Yeah, I'd MUCH MUCH rather have Escape From New York on blu-ray.

Nice that this is coming out tho since the DVD was non-anamorphic.

Thank you for the heads up. I love Carpenters 80's films (especially In The Mouth of Madness). $34.99 is a little pricey right now, but I'll keep my eyes on them. Thanks again!

I hope it isn't the crappy looking print they ran on AMCHD last week. I didn't even bother to watch it. If it is a newly remastered version, I'll definitely buy it!

Those transfers are not the best. Reminds me of the Fog HD dvd which was a horrible transfer from the French distributor. I'll wait for a proper blu release of these.

Yeah the EFNY blu ray looks like the slandered DVD.

Paramount's Blu-ray transfers are almost always impressive, so I wouldn't worry much about that. It certainly can't be worse than the crappy old non-anamorphic DVD. ;)

Yeah, this certainly a no lose upgarde. Even if the blu just sucks as bad or worse than any other blu, it will still be a vast improvment over the dvd which is among the worst transfers from Paramount I can think of.
Hopefully they'll get it right.
Any word about possible extras? Carpenter and Russell need to do a commentary for this if nothing else, but I'm gonna guess this to be another barebones release. Now bring on New York in real HD!
I've read about the existing Escape from NY blu, and I'm not losing any sleep over not having it and not wasting any time looking for it.

Yeah this should look pretty good. Paramount's transfers are pretty fuckin' awesome most of the time. I couldn't believe how good Fatal Attraction looked on blu-ray...and that film has NEVER looked good.

I'll pick this up! After remembering hating it when i was a child, I recently watched it last year and loved it! Reminds me of Evil Dead 2 in the sense that it's pretty much just a remake of the first film but with the goofiness amped up!

Rather have an anamorphic SE DVD.

I didn't like it much either, but it grew on me!! I never bought the DVD, so this one's a no brainer for me!

I was really disappointed when EFLA came out. I thought it was a travesty and a dishonor to EFNY.

But after all these years I am really glad this film was made.

Makes me wonder if 'I wont be thinking the same thing about recent remakes like
H1 and H2,and F13.

I have high hopes for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake.
