Hey guys...

I have an idea for a new thread. Which 2 Horror movies that you own can you watch (and still enjoy) without the audio? Then give one of two reasons, 1) you have memorized the dialogue because you have seen it so many times or 2) Its just so damn visual, that you don't need the audio.

Thanks,

Matt

Here are my 2 choices:

1) NOTLD 90: Because i have it memorized
2) Dead Alive: Extremely visual, even great without sound.

Thanks,

Matt

I think sound is just as important as the visuals in maknig a "complete package", but I'd have to say Evil Dead can be understood with visuals alone.

Um, Nosferatu and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923). :) I suppose you could say it's because the visuals, but really, it's because they're silent movies. :)

2) Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Great film with or w\o audio.

Even though its non-horror, I can literally do the sounds & dialogue for Transformers: The Movie! Now that's a movie I saw CRAZY-SILLY times when I was a kid & I still think I have the whole movie memorized 'til this day!

Army of Darkness: Memorized
Bram Stolker's Dracula: Not only are the visuals beautiful, but the plot has so many loopholes and jargon that the film is probably easier to follow without audio!

Dark Lord

Every horror films before 1930, the silent one! Just beautiful to watch, Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari is my favorite!

Hitchcock would watch all of his films with no sound after they were cut. He believed that a good film should be understood even without sound. If they didnt work, he would re-cut them.
We should comprehend through actions and actors' emotions.
I think all the great horror films can be watched without sound and still be enjoyed.
At parties, I like to put the EVIL DEAD films on tv with no sound and crank up the music. Another one is NATURAL BORN KILLERS.

I completely disagree wit "NATURAL BORN KILLERS". I think the sound on it adds to the movie that having it gone, is like having an EDITED CUT copy. Just my opinon. ;)

As a stoner, I've done the 'stoner thing' and watched FANTASIA with the sound off. But I put other music on instead. You will never see FANTASIA the same till you smoke up, and have MONSTER MAGNET"s SUPERJUDGE playing in the background. (or SPINE OF GOD)

Of course HEAVY METAL I've done the same with.

SWITCHBLADE SISTERS: Memorized.
THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT: Watching Heather run while listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody was really cool.
