Name that film!

While looking at the thread tonight regarding the remake of Fright Night, I remembered a question that I wanted to ask regarding the name of a film that I don't know. If you remember during various points in Fright Night, the TV set is always on in Charlie's room with a horror festival playing all night. On occasion, you can see brief clips/images on the TV. There is a film that is shown and I don't know what it is. All I remember is some type of door slamming, and a woman or man with long hair turns around very quickly. Their back is facing the viewer, but when he/she turns, there eyes seem to be either completely black or red? Does this ring a bell with anybody? I can't tell you if I've seen the film or not, but it has always intrigued me.

I got the impression while watching the film that all of the stuff shown on the TV was footage shot especially for Fright Night for the character of Peter Vincent to star in. If this is wrong than I'd love to know the answer as well. A lot of the shots remind me of Hammer Film's THE GORGON or something similar of that vintage.

I don't recall the shot you're talking about but from memory they did use some footage of a vampire bat flapping around that was from Hammer's SCARS OF DRACULA.

I suppose it could be SCARS OF DRACULA. I do have that on dvd. Maybe I will just have to revisit this film over the weekend.

There were some scenes from OCTAMAN and Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things as well. There was a scene that was shot specifically for the movie with Peter Vincent playing a Z -grade Peter Cushing role. Other than that I believe there was a clip from Scars Of Dracula lumped in there somewhere.

I suppose it could be SCARS OF DRACULA. I do have that on dvd. Maybe I will just have to revisit this film over the weekend.

we seem to get a whole lot of these types of threads. would it be feasible to combine it into one thread? the title of this one, "name that film!" would work well. not that I want to hijack Harry's thread. and i guess a potential drawback could be that certain requests for identification could get lost or overlooked. Any thoughts? if people are down, there's a scene from a movie or tv show (non-horror) that i remember seeing as a kid that really disturbed me, and i have no idea what it was from. but i'll hold on to it for now.

Well, I can rule out Scars of Dracula. I watched it today. All of the bat scenes are there (hilarious, I might add), but the scene I'm thinking of wasn't. I also put Fright Night in and scans some of the scenes. I did see the Scars clips and Octaman as well, but I couldn't find the scene where the persons turns quickly. Now I'm completely baffeled. Now I wonder if the damn clip was in Fright Night at all. The only other possibility would be from the beginning or ending of Terror in the Aisles. Does anybody know if there is a complete listing of all films covered in Terror? I wish I had that film on DVD. What a great flick it was.

If you want to find out what film's clips were used in TERROR IN THE AISLES go to The Internet Movie Database (IMDB),enter TERROR IN THE AISLES and when the main page pops up click on MOVIE CONNECTIONS.It will list all of the films that TERROR uses material from.

TERROR IN THE AISLES is gonna have a hard time getting a DVD release as the rights to all of the clips are held by numerous companies,purchasing the rights would likely be expensive.It did get a Japanese laserdisc release years ago,though I think it was under a different title.

Sadly it seems there is only one surviving 35mm print of TERROR left,it will be screened at the Carolina Theater on a double bill with HALLOWEEN 3 and a new short subject about a week before Halloween as part of their Retrofantasma Festival.It's sad how some movies virtually disapear from the "film" realm .A shame these offbeat flicks weren't better protected.

Good idea ! Not having FRIGHT NIGHT here to check out the clip myself I'm still not sure what film the shot might be from,but he might well be able to check it out.
