Just thought I'd start a thread where we can all post the deals and/or displays that we've found of various horror movies either online or in the brick-and-mortar stores.

Was in Best Buy a few days ago and they had a big $4.99 DVD bin. Not all were horror titles but I picked up THE SHORTCUT (2009 Anchor Bay) and BLOOD BATH 12 MOVIE COLLECTION (2010 Mill Creek.) They had some of the SAW movies and HIS NAME WAS JASON but I already had those. JUMANJI was one of the non-horror titles I recall. Probably not worth a special trip but if you're there...

Also they had an endcap with some $9.99 titles, or two for $13. Got ARMY OF DARKNESS and DRAG ME TO HELL. I'm pretty sure they had the other 2 EVIL DEAD movies in the deal but most of the titles were non-horror. FLASH GORDON (1980) and WANTED (2008 Anjelina Jolie) were two I remember.

Mostly I noticed they've really cut down their DVD & CD sections. Horror DVDs barely filled two sparse shelves.

Was in Wal-Mart earlier and their Halloween section was pathetic. Prices ranged from $7.50 - $13 and they had mostly newer titles like The Stepfather, Unborn, and The Last House on the Left remake. They did have a two separate Leprechaun 3-packs (1,2,3 & 4, In Da Hood, In Da hood 2) for $7.50 each. They also had a few new $5 bin movies like the Hellraiser Special Edition, Fright Night, etc. Nothing big.

I saw on Youtube though that someone picked up a 4 movie pack from Wal-Mart that had Slaughter High, Repossessed, Silent Night Deadly Night 3, and another movie I don't remember. If anyone finds this could you please let me know the price and where exactly in your store it was located? I'd love to have this set.

That set you're talking about has been in my neck of the woods for months. 5 bucks for all 4 of those titles, but they're on two flipper discs.

Damn, that's a hell of a deal. I think I'll have to go hunting today.

TheDreamMaster

Oh, and for the record, the 4th movie is "My Best Friend is a Vampire." For what it's worth, my store had them on an endcap, not in a 5 dollar bin or with the other 5 dollar movies.

Funny enough, it was $13 in it's regular position on the shelf but it's $7.50 on the Halloween display.

Same here..their displays change about every four goddamned months. There are more folks working in the electronics dept that anywhere else in the frickin store and I couldn't get any help to save my life. Walmart is, for the most part..shit. I've taken the advice from a lot of folks on this board and I've finally started ordering from Amazon. Haven't had a problem yet and I can usually get everything I want.

I should have picked up "Cornered!" when Wal-Hell had it for 10 bucks a few weeks ago.Everywhere else wants $22-28 for it! Nice little play off my fave slasher Intruder, but not worth more than $12 at the most. You can get some good deals on the lower budget horror tho'.

I have pretty much everything Wal-mart had in their Halloween section, except Twilight Zone: The Movie. So I bought that.

Thanks for all of the tips... went out this morning and got the original Children of the Corn, Blair Witch Project, Fright Night, and the My Best Friend Is a Vampire/Repossessed/Slaughter High/Silent Night, Deadly Night 3 4-pack (it was with the shelved $5 dvds) from Wal-Mart for $5 each. I saw Halloween II and a few other horror, but they were all ones I already have.

Picked up Elvira Mistress of the Dark ($5), The Howling SE ($10 but the holographic of all things wore me down), Sleepaway Camp ($5) from K-Mart.

Also got Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 ($5) and Candyman SE ($5) from Big Lots.

Off to Best Buy in a few to see what they have.

Trick or Treat - $7.99
Blair Witch Project - $.9.99
High Tension - $7.99

They've been rocking these for at least a month, ever since Blair Witch and Tension came out they've been that price. Same with Trick, same price since the other BD's came out. I would think th sale has to end sometime though, so if you haven't got em yet, I wouldn't keep waiting. $7.99 is cheaper than most used stores here.

Right on - I actually hadn't been there in like 2 months, so I went in yesterday on a whim and was psyched to pick those up so cheap. Already had Trick r' Treat though. Jeez, I think I paid $20 for that last year - major price drop.

Okay boys and ghouls...Best Buy has a fucking amazing Blu-Ray sale THIS WEEK ONLY,AS FAR AS I KNOW:

Now that it's mentioned, I'm 90% sure BB here only had the single disc Evil Dead. The one I almost bought defintily was, I recall thinking the features looked light.
Did grab Hostel, The Mist and Hatchet for $9.99 each. Passed on Evil Dead mostly cuz I haven't watched either dvd in 5 years and don't want to buy it again. If there's a 2-disc buried in back I'll probably break own and grab it though, such a slut.

F Best Buy.

You can't even get most $hit from their on-line store. They used to be a great genre resource. Now you'd be lucky to find anything even slightly outside of the mainstream. They sure do know how to stock an excess of crap Japanese "horror" though, and endless variations of "100 Horror Classics" for $25.

I checked out a couple of Best Buys near me and it was the one disc movie only Blu of Evil Dead that they were selling for $9.99. What's worse is that the regular price on this was like $22.99. I did grab Dawn of the Dead '78 and the original TCM on Blu-Ray for 9.99 there, though.

Amazon has Evil Dead on blu-ray for $9.99 now too. What is this about two discs? I only see the one version on Amazon's site. I didn't know there was a two disc set. Frozen is also $9.99. I actually have that on the way from netflix, but that's a good price for a new release.

yeah the one with the bonus disc of extras is labeled as a limited edition but I don't think any of us thought it would be all that limited. Figured it would be "limited" like the book of the dead edition. Like was mentioned above Amazon does seem to be price matching on many of the horror Blu's at Best Buy. FYI... I was able to score the 2 disc limited edition Blu of Evil Dead at Meijer for 12.99. They had all of their Anchor Bay/Starz Blu's (Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Evil Dead series, Halloween) for 12.99

I guess the 2-disc Blu-ray was really a "Limited Edition", as it appeared on the front/back covers.

It came with the Blu-ray and a Bonus DVD with most of the previous existing special features. It had around 10 featurettes, a stills gallery, the theatrical trailer and TV Spots. It's not simply one of the old DVD's, but was a new compilation of the stuff from the multiple old DVD's.

Here's what the original front cover (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/dawnofwinter/EvilDead2.jpg) & back cover (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/dawnofwinter/EvilDead.jpg) looked like.

Not much I was excited about at Big Lots.Loads of PROM NIGHT remake DVDs (and APRIL FOOLS DAY's retread as well) plus the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER trio and full frames of CRY WOLF.The Bela Lugosi oldie RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE is selling for $5.00 and you might still snag a snapper cased copy of the original THE HAUNTING for three bucks.Like all of their Warner's discs though the box for THE HAUNTING has that wicked little slash on it just to let the world know it's a cut out.I've always hated that, slicing the case so ''it ain't purdy no more" !

I agree! And you can't even replace the case for The Haunting (even though the artwork would remain slashed regardless). One thing I did with some $3 Warner DVDs from Big Lots is to replace them with blu-rays for about $5 each through Warner's dvd2blu.com. I probably didn't save much money vs. just buying the blu-rays, though, since some of the titles can often be found for $8-10 in hi-def. It was a good way to get rid of some slashed DVDs, though, and it was really pretty quick and simple. I hope they update their selection one day, though, to include titles newer to blu-ray like Logan's Run.

Ah, Ok. Thanks. Had I known that I might of picked it up. It seems silly to make something like that so limited.

Here's an article about it being sold out: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5262

When Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead was released on Blu-ray , it came out in a limited edition set (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Evil-Dead-Blu-ray/9962/), which included a special features DVD. Now Amazon and other retailers are already sold out of this first edition and are selling a single-disc release (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Evil-Dead-Blu-ray/16719/), which drops most of the extras from the limited edition, with the exception of the audio commentary.

Those interested in this title should note that this week Best Buy is offering The Evil Dead for $9.99. Some forum members are reporting having found the two-disc set at their local stores, whereas at others it was already sold out.

So, it would seem that some remaining copies are still out there to buy... you just have to find them and be sure to notice the cover differences between the two versions.

I'm glad I picked it up early now!

About 1 1/2 weeks ago, I went to my local Wal-Mart, and they had no special display for Halloween up yet, and they weren't sure when they were going to. I probably already have what they will be putting out, if they do. I purchased the LE Evil Dead Blu-Ray disc on September 4th, even though I don't currently have a Blu-Ray, money reasons, and I had a strange feeling that it was going to be very Limited.
