I have to say this was a pretty good year horror wise. Not the greatest mind you, but there were more than enough to create a solid top ten list for me. Now there a still several films I have yet to see (Piranha, Let Me In, Hatchet 2, Last Exorcism) and if they live up to the hype I will amend this list.
My Top Ten Horror Films Of 2010
1) Rec 2

3) Frozen
4) Lake Mungo
5) A Serbian Film

Hmmm...looks like i've only seen 6 this year.
The only one I'd want to put on a top 10 list would be:
1. Piranha 3D
Of the rest, here they are in descending order:
2. Daybreakers
3. Splice
4. The Wolfman
5. The Crazies
6. A Nightmare on Elm Street
Tying this in with the Box Office Horror: 2009 vs 2010 thread, I am disturbed by how many genuinely bad films are making some of these lists. I guess 2010 was a pretty bad year for horror.

Agreed. So many average movies came out this year, saw nothing that really blew me away.

I wouldn't consider any films on my list "genuinely bad films".

Paranormal Activity 2  OMG major LULZ
BOO!
I wouldn't consider any films on my list "genuinely bad films".
I count three, plus a pointless remake (not The Crazies) and Paranormal Activity 2, neither of which I will ever see.

I can't agree with that. Well which three would you say are genuinely bad films?
Human Centipede, Serbian Film and I Spit On Your Grave

In no order whatsoever:
Piranha 3D
Human Centipede
Frozen (best I've seen this year)
Wolfman (great remake)
The Crazies (decent redo)
Daybreakers (loved the first 2/3rds, poor last act)
Descent 2 (shouldn't exist, but fun as a "what if" story)
I need to see Triangle, that looks promising and my hopes are pretty high.
Also need to see Suck, which will happen soon as I own it, just haven't got to watch it yet. I doubt that's very horror though, looks like comedy to me.

Human Centipede, Serbian Film and I Spit On Your Grave
Maybe you didn't like them but calling them genuinely bad films? There is no way I can agree with you there. Especially when it comes to Serbian Film.
I think we have to agree to disagree then. I have so many problems with A Serbian Film that I don't even know where to begin.

Having just seen Black Swan. the more I think about it the less problem I have in calling it a Psychological Horror film and it goes straight to the top of my list. Even Aronofsky has referred to it as such. It's not your typical horror film structure wise but It's Intense, Gory, Scary, Psychologically and visually Creepy and atmospheric. Everything I look for in a Horror Film.

I missed out on my usual festival screenings this year, so there's a lot of smaller release stuff that I have yet to see. My top ten this year would be a list by default since the majority of horror flicks I've seen were pretty mediocre.
I loved Dread and mostly loved Frozen. Piranha 3D was a lot of fun but not exactly first caliber film making. The Nightmare remake had a great performance at its centre but was pretty weak overall. Daybreakers was good for a watch but doesn't hold up to multiple viewings. The Crazies was slick, entertaining and completely hollow at its core. Wolfman was terrible. I haven't seen Black Swan yet but feel fairly confident in saying that its the best horror film of the year. It doesn't have a high bar to clear.
The best I can muster is a top five, and even that's stretching it.
01. Black Swan (sight unseen)
02. Dread
03. Frozen
04. Splice
05. Piranha 3D

An underwhelming year for horror for me. I thought at the very least the Night Of The Demons remake was fun, everything else was either 'not my style of horror' or just plain sucked.

Paranormal Activity 2 OMG major LULZ
I enjoyed paranormal activity 2 - Really liked the first one and the second wasnt quite as creepy - but still enjoyed it
I am struggling to even come up with a single horror movie released this year that I would rate more than three stars.
But, there are still a lot that I haven't seen and am looking forward to.
I thought these were good but they didn't blow me away (3 stars out of 5):
Human Centipede
Splice
Night of the Demons
Still looking forward to:
Black Swan
Piranha 3D
A Serbian Film
[REC]2
Let Me In
I Spit on your Grave
Mirrors 2
The Pack (La Meute)
So, this year may turn out ok for me, but so far it's a dud.

4. The Crazies
5. Night of the Demons
6. Nightmare on Elm Street

I forgot Night of the Demons, jumped right into my favorite remake category and should've been on my previous list.
Checked out Suck last night. It was so close to what I wanted and yet so far away all at once. The next viewing will determine if I love it or hate it, I don't see much middle ground available.

Yeah the first film was tight. I honestly just hated the sequel. When that demonic double d cracks/snaps that you know what dude. Ya know right ya know what I am reffering to? OK well kinda sort of right huh? Anyway I busted out laughing so did allot of people. I love when movies try to be scary but just turn into a comedy.
