We're on to 2011, but how was your 2010? We had a lot of people tracking their movies in our Track The Movies You Watch thread (this year's version is here), but for them and everyone else, how many movies do you think you watched this year? Was it more or less than last year? Why? Any new years resolutions?

I have no idea but I was guesstimate close to 300.

after falling short last year, i wanted to make sure i averaged 1 a day in 2010. it took a little bit of work, but i managed to do it. on to 2011! we'll see how it goes....

2009: 417
2010: 362

Last year I got married so that took up a lot of my time with the planning, wedding and honeymoon. Plus, I stopped going to the theater as much (working there really makes you hate it). I also got heavily back into comics and video games, which eats up time. I assume this year will be an even lower number, as my wife and I are having a baby in August.

I just exported my list to Excel to do a quick count and it turns out I watched 208 movies last year! Wow, not bad.

I think the count I got was 162...in comparison to 2009 where I caught 303, I was WAAAAAY down. Damn real life...

In 2009 I watched 232 (almost all DVDs), with 35 in October.

For 2010 I only tracked movies in October, and watched 36, but I'd guess that overall I saw fewer than in 2009, so probably just a couple or so over 200 for the year is my best guess.

400+ in 2010 and 500+ in 2009.
I notice that there is a gap in the choices, they go from 100-129 to 150-199.

I'm guessing around 275. Could be more though, racked up quite a few in October.

About 215 in 2010. Usually it would be quite a bit higher, but this year I got married and started a new job that takes up a lot more time than the previous one.

185 movies in 2010.

Seems like lots of others dived in 2010 compared to 2009 too. I'm figuring on staying just over 200 again this year.

Probably about 30 or so for me. That's if you count stuff that I've never seen before only. It's been a rough year for me and for some reason watching movies has taken the back burner.

320 for me this year. I discovered my local network of libraries and the thousands of DVDs I now have access to for free. So I am able to catch up on all the Criterion and foreign films i hesitated to buy.

Total guess but right around one a week sounds pretty sensible from my viewing in the last year.. certainly down a bit from previous years.

It always averages around 300-370 a year, and last year felt average.
I expect more this year with the Pistons being sucky and hard to watch, although they keep making more addicting TV shows like Gold Rush and Auction Wars and Pawn Stars. Plus Hardcore Pawn, I've already seen 5 friends on there (yeah I know the dude who was trying to sell the speakers and came off looking like a retard, and the dude who makes the puppets is a friend, probably explains a lot).

I watch about 2 movies every night, maybe 3 per night during weekends.
So I guess I watched something between 500-600 movies in 2010.

And, yes, I also have a life outside the hometheater ;)
Always helps to have a girlfriend who also is a movie buff :)

Definitely between 50-99 for me. It's been a very busy, stressful, and super productive year for me, and my movie watching was one of the first things to take a hit when my time started getting tied up.

222 (not including films watched while listening to a commentary track)

This was quite a change for me. I doubt I watched 200 films in the entire decade of the 90's. Before 2009 a typical year for me would be maybe 30, but I certainly didn't track them.

yeah, thats just cheating. if i included all the commentaries i watched (or included individual episodes of tv shows, as my wife suggested i do) my stats would be insanely inflated. gotta keep my integrity!

0-9 for me.the movie industry is dying with bad movies (im freakin' tired of remakes and re-imaginings) and i wasn't in the mood of watching old favorites since here in Chile we had to endure an earthquake and a tsunami.speaking of which, Eli Roth is currently producing a movie about that event, I think it will be called Aftermath (hope it will be any good).

2010 - 217
2009 - 218

Looks like I watched 217 movies last year, one less than 2009. Damn, I thought it would have been higher, but it has been a busy year. I am starting strong this year though, already at 15 movies.

I fell to just under 75, it looks like. As I've gotten older, the # of films I get to watch has inversely followed.

I still love discovering gems thanks to discussions on here, and I try--I try!--to make the time for more (main problem: sleep). Here's to more than 75 in 2011!

I put 10-49---it could possibly be in the 50-99 range, but I'd guess not very far into it.

It's not that I'm busy, I actually have a lot of time on my hands these days [haven't worked in a while] but I just don't feel like watching movies all that much. My wife and I will sometimes watch one on the weekends, but that's about it.

02-04-2011, 08:32 PM
I watched 125, which dipped from 147 in 2009 and 262 in 2008. Not bad, I guess, considering I moved into a new home and worked a lot of overtime last year, in addition to spending more time on video games. This year I guess I'll set the bar for 100...but I'm running out of slashers to watch and most new movies just don't interest me. Back to old foreign films, I guess!

498! fucking 498! 2 away from 500! dammit! i had a couple of hour-long universal classic horror movies from the 40's that i was gonna check out on new years eve, but i got sidelined by house-painting and then relatives. oh well. its still a big jump from 365 last year (i made my goal that time, one movie per day).

:D well, don't be too quick to be envious. the only reason i was able to watch so many was because i was unemployed over the summer and stayed home the whole time out of a desire to conserve funds - hence, 4-5 movies a day was pretty standard. its a bit of a trade-off. with any luck i WON'T have that much free time this year. still, 500 flicks in one year would have been a nice milestone. oh well, guess it'll always be the one that got away.

And Kolpitz, you slacker, where was the push to reach 600?! a little effort would have been nice, sheesh!

F-ing 73 in 2011! :fuck: Ha ha, I think 70-ish is about tops for me at this point.

I was pretty surprised by Attack the Block and Tucker & Dale but completely underwhelmed by Insidious. Resident Evil: Afterlife and The Expendables, all of which disappointed in the cheese department; Hobo with a Shotgun delivered on its title and promised cheese, though, while (in non-horror viewings) Fubar II ruled.

A few effective dramas like Martha Marcy May Marlene and Contagion, kept me thinking of them at odd times, but the Archer television show was probably my best find. Great jokes, very funny action--excellent voiceovers.

It was a much more memorable year in viewing films than 2010, but see ya! Onto 2012.

AAAAAaaaand, bump for 2012 totals. Spoke too soon a year ago in the above quote; I fit in 101 films in 2012. :glasses: A lot of it was due to October, where I saw quite a few. First-time viewing standouts include Days of Heaven (1978), The Avengers, Prometheus, Moonrise Kingdom, Chinatown (1974), Cabin in the Woods, Skyfall, and Looper. I also loved the first season of Homeland and all six seasons of The Larry Sanders Show.

First-time viewing lowlights include The Unholy (1988), The Initiation (1984), Chillerama, 976-EVIL II, Piranha 3DD, Our Idiot Brother, When in Rome (2010) :joshua:, Cowboys & Aliens, and Club Paradise (1984).

According to my online database 373 in 2012 (http://aesppres.com/phpdvdprofiler/ws.php?user=Jimmy%20Simard&year=2012&dolast=1&domost=0&dobest=0&doworst=0), but this total included the films and the TV show season I watch on DVD (also it doesn't make a difference if there are more than one film on a DVD). So it's more than that...

Ok, I have a 4 year old so in 2012 I saw my movie views plummet to less than 40 for the whole year, maybe 12 of those were re-watches of classics. Being a single dad limits the amount of movies I can see - but so far in 2013 I have seen over a dozen, so I will have 2012 total eclipsed in no time.

I watched 220 movies in 2012.

I got up to 426, although 4 of those were Wayne's World. I've started watching that movie every 3 months or so for some reason. Up from 246 the year before.

Here's a few of my favorites that I saw last year

I Saw The Devil - One of the best movies I've seen ever, in any genre
Fatal Pulse
Order of the Black Eagle
Ogroff
Ninja III
Detention
Looper
Dredd - Saw this and Looper on a whim while in Virginia, both are amazing
Moonrise Kingdom
Miami Connection
Night of the Devils

Best worst movie - Nailgun Massacre
New Christmas Favorite - Silent Night Deadly Night 2
Surprise low rent zombie movie that made me cry - Harold's Going Stiff
