Finally some long awaited sequels will be making their hi-def debuts thanks to a new deal between Echo Bridge Entertainment and Miramax! Franchise completists' wallets will be burning all over the country!
According to The Hollywood Reporter Miramax has entered into a domestic distribution agreement to have Echo Bridge Entertainment distribute 251 of its titles on DVD and Blu-ray.
The films include selected titles from such franchises as Halloween, Hellraiser and Children Of The Corn.
Echo Bridge chairman and president Michael Rosenblatt said they are excited about adding these titles to their library because “many have tremendous star power and are cult classics.”
Miramax CEO Mike Lang said that although many of these movies have been around for years “in many cases” they “have never been fully exploited.”
Look for more on what's coming and when soon!

but they mostly do public domain stuff, don't they? does this mean we're going to see wretched transfers of these films with zero supplements? i sure hope not.
i suppose they're talking about halloween's 6-8, and hellraiser...what? bloodline and onward? or do they control hellraiser 3 as well?
the only way i can see myself picking up any of the children of the corn sequels is if they go all the way and put every single one of them into a very cheap set.

At least Echo Bridge blu's are cheap, you can get Mega-Piranha for $5 at Best Buy and that was the price from the day it came out! That one doesn't look bad, but has no extras.

I think Paramount has Hellraiser 3, Miramax has the ones after that.
I guess this is good news. As bigdaddyhorse stated, Echo Bridge BDs are dirt cheap. I just hope the PQ is up to far. I have seen a few discs from EB and they weren't all that great. I damn sure want the Halloween sequels though!
Edit: Oh sh*t, just remembered that EB doesn't always use lossless audio tracks. I'll be pissed if they omit them from the Halloween sequel BDs.
I'm not entirely too excited about Echo Bridge releasing these...

I would have assumed that Starz/Anchor Bay would have jumped on these films if available. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Echo Bridge is shit. Shout! Factory made a bid for these apparently, but EB came up with more coin.

As long as the transfers are good, it's fine with me. I have a few Echo Bridge Blu-rays, and the quality is decent enough for budget releases.

Could be worse. Could have been Timeless Media Group ;)
I own one Blu-ray double feature from Echo Bridge, Mortuary/Salvage. Mortuary looks really good in HD. Salvage on the other hand wasn't a stunner visually, but it was filmed with some sort of video cam I think.

 So true! Echo Bridge would seem like Criterion compared to TMG.

After that horrible ass Curtains DVD, I have little hope for anything they put out. I was really hoping that with Lions Gate doing all the Miramax movies maybe there was a chance that we would see a legit release of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers Producers Cut. But I guess that won't be happening anytime soon.
In terms of the the direct to video Children of the Corn and Hellraiser sequels it is no big shock to see them get dumped to BD this way...after all these movies are not all that different from the full moon franchise moves that Echo Bridge has released on DVD in their triple feature packs. But somehow I expected a bit more for the Halloween movies. All were theatrical releases, and H20 did huge box office.

Blu-ray.com mentions that this deal also includes the From Dusk Till Dawn trilogy.
If anyone is interested, some of the non-horror titles include:
Tsotsi
Marvin's Room
Music of the Heart
Becoming Jane (which is already available on blu-ray)

YAH!
We can enjoy these films in 1080i at 8Mb/sec.

provided hellraiser 3 isn't included in the batch, then the hellraiser and children of the corn movies actually make sense to me. the more i think about it, this might be a good thing as far as those films go. seeing them for super cheap might actually get me to pick them up.
i agree about the halloween sequels, though. surprising given the high profile of the last two (especially H20). and its disappointing that curse of michael myers won't have the opportunity to come out in the producer's cut. i think a small scale release of that would do very well.

That sucks, I'd want at least the first film done right, not done cheap (again like Alliance). Looks like I'll never get to sell off that old non-anamorphic DVD. There's no chance the film comes outr from EB with all kinds of features.
Maybe, by some stroke of luck, that Dimension is still going to create the discs and dictate all of the features on them, etc., and Echo Bridge is merely manufacturing and distributing them.

Don't think it's happened yet, but we can always hope. I don't think I've seen a single feature besides maybe a trailer on any EB blu-ray yet.

Mortuary and Beer League had extras. Hopefully they will at least include the extras that are already available for these movies (Full Tilt Boogie, etc)

They will also be releasing Full Tilt Boogie, but separately from From Dusk Till Dawn.

I don't know about that. Amazon lists them together for the Platinum (a division of Echo Bridge) DVD release:

Of course the Blu-ray version could be done differently but I don't see why it would.

So since many of these movies are coming out on DVD in April, how much longer till we see their Blu-ray counterparts?

It's weird that it's even listed under the Platinum Disc name. They haven't released anything under that name for years now, since soon after the merger back in 2005.

Looks like Children of the Corn 2 will be coming out as a stand alone disc on April 12th. The price on Amazon now is only $7!

I thought Paramount owned Hellraiser 3. And what about Hellraiser 7-8?
Nailwraps

Well, Hellraiser III was originally distributed by Dimension way back but for some reason Paramount got the home video rights (maybe because they distributed the film together or some deal they made). I think as part of the Echo Bridge deal, Dimension was able to aquire the rights to III back.

I want Blu for The Prophecy, but I also want a SE. It only spawned 4 sequels (so far), give it some fucking love! Where's the "God's Army" cut?
I know I'm dreaming on this, and in reality I'll be happy with just a correct ratio BD, even if it is 1080i.
bestbuy.com has the following listed for May 3rd
List Price $19.99
Halloween: H2o
Crow 2: City Of Angels
From Dusk Till Dawn
Yards
(Info originally posted by rednowgreen @ blu-ray.com)
I'm looking forward to H20 & FDTD but I sure am concerned that Echo Bridge won't include lossless audio.

Amazon has those four for $13.99. I'm going for H20 and From Dusk Till Dawn to drop below $10 unless the transfers are amazing. I won't be purchasing the other two. Bring on the Hellraisers!

I can't wait toi hear what the audio on FDTD is like. The Canadian dvd is so pretty to look at, yet so painful to try and listen to...
I so hope they used the same video master and fixed the audio. Just add the standard 5.1 track from the dvd and it would be fine.

Wha...? What the hell could possibly be their motivation for releasing "Full Tilt Boogie" seperately from "From Dusk Till Dawn"?! How does that make any sense whatsoever?! I'm starting to think that Echo Bridge literally goes out of their way to be the shitiest movie distributor in existance. I mean honestly, who packages what is essentially a making of documentary seperate from the feature film in which it documents?! I am honestly dumfounded by this ridiculous concept.

I'll pick up H20 only if some extras are included, otherwise I'm sticking with my Canadian blu-ray. That being said, I don't see Echo Bridge putting any effort into this and I bet it'll be a barebones release.

I agree. It works better if the doc is included with the film. And as for extras for H20, my guess is that it will only include the DVD extras (except for the trivia game) and no new content or have no content at all.

Probably so. It really wouldn't surprise me if they simply used the same transfer that's on the Canadian Blu-ray. Hell, even 20th Century Fox did that with The Illusionist.

Then I'll probably stick with mine then. Although I was hoping for a blu-ray version of H6 Producers cut.

I went ahead and grabbed the canadian release of From Dusk till Dawn at FYE today for $8.99. I know some people took issue with the audio on this release, but for 8.99 I figured I would give it a shot. It looks and sounds great to me, then again, I'm no audiophile. I have no plans on giving Echo Bridge a fucking dime if they are indeed releasing this and Full Tilt Boogie separately.

I happen to own Faculty, Hallowen 6-8, Dracula 2000 & From Dust Til Dawn on Blu-ray & I'm quite happy with them. I don't see myself upgrading these unless they do something special to or with them. Also does anyone know who owns the first Crow & if a Blu-ray is in the works?
