I rented this on VHS last night and I'm now a convert. Dammit, somebody needs to release this turd on blu-ray, stat! It would look really nice sitting next to my copy of Troll 2. Star Crystal is so fantastically, jaw dropingly inept at every turn from the "acting", to the set design, to the creature effects, that I haven't had this much fun watching a movie in a while. And that ending!!!
If I had a Star Crystal shirt, I would wear it with pride!

"Will you stop with the Billie shit?" Maybe the word was "crap". It's been a long time, but I loved that woman's hair.
Not only did I make a copy from an old library VHS, I also had the honor of seeing this Oscar nominated piece at the drive-in when I was a kid. I remember laughing so hard at the plastic model spaceship. They should've released the song on a 45 "Crystal of a star, crystal of a star."
GAR-the only alien in cinema history that killed because he was scared!!!

I must've been living under a rock. I never knew AB released this steaming pile on DVD. I'll have to track one down.

I love this flick. It's a wreck, but a fun one to watch with friends and booze. That end title song is a hoot...so touching and overwrought; the singer is rather off tune in the high notes.
I first saw this on Showtime back in the late 80's. I bought the DVD used from Second Spin.com

You mean Indira? Whatever happened to her, anyways?
I love how the spaceship was apparently built by hobbits; the only way to travel from one room to the next is by crawling through what amounts to air ducts. Also, I love how the captain's bug-eyed reaction while watching old tapes of astronauts passing a football back and forth on Mars is EXACTLY the same bug-eyed reaction he had when he watched on a monitor as the space station blew up and took the lives of many of his friends and crewmates.

Of course, let's not forget the "hero"s hysterical, ineptly acted reaction to a passing shuttlecraft leaving them due to iterference by GAR.
That scene is at 5:37 in this segment of the film (the film is up in its entirety on Youtube).

I'm watching William Malone's CREATURE right now. It's good... but it just isn't the same. :(

I shit you not, this thread made me re-visit "Creature" about 2 hours ago.

I remember seeing the old Starmaker VHS of this in stores. Never got around to picking it up, though. If it was on Netflix, I'd give it a look.

It's strange that this thread should appear now. :nervous: I actually have the DVD on order from last week...due to arrive any day now.
I remember watching the StarMaker VHS years ago. I recall it being BAD, but quite enjoyable in a trashy ultra-cheesy way.

I used to own the Starmaker VHS tape but got rid of it years ago. I remember the special effects (if you want to call them special effects) being totally laughable. Still, I have seen the movie a few times. It was good viewing if one was totally bored to tears.

I just finished watching this and found it to be an enjoyable slice of cheese. Ever notice how every alien from the 80's through the 90's is slimy with goo, since Ridley Scott's Alien? They've conquered interstellar travel but just can't figure out how to handle moistness.

To this day, everytime I think back about the final scene, I imagine it overdubbed with the theme song to "The Courtship of Eddie's Father".
