I'll probably be down for this. It had better be "gimmicky" 3D and not "atmospheric" 3D. I want to have some fun.

It sounds like something I would enjoy. I agree about the need for gimmicks. I want in your face body parts (severed and nude) and all sorts of fluids flying at my face.

I was hoping this thread was about a possible releasing of Jaws 3 in 3-D cause that would be cool.

It seems like they're shooting for a PG-13 rating, so this is basically already a failure in my book. Not only that, but David Ellis really dropped the ball with Snakes on a Plane, a movie that should've been hilarious but instead turned out dull.

They always shoot for a pg-13 rating that way they can get more butts in the seats & then they put out an unrated version so you'll buy the dvd/blu-ray.

was looking forward to this but PG-13 means a no way from me, a killer shark flick with no killings what a fantastic idea!!! will watch on dvd/blu ray if unrated, but only unrated.

Still thinking PG-13 after Snakes got re-rated, after the blast taht was Piranha 3D, fucking retarded. No chance, not even sure I care about unrated. The re-shot R-rated stuff for Snakes sticks out like 50 ounces of silicone compared to the rest and nearly kills the whole thing for me. This doesn't have half the hype or Sam Jackson, bad idea!

Now seeing the trailer. Looks like they were definitely influenced by the new Piranha movie.

I would check it out.

Huh? I didn't get a raunchy vibe from the trailer at all. Looks like a teenybopper horror film all the way. :sleepy:

Not interested. Piranha 3D had Alexander Aja behind the camera on it. This looks like Piranha 3D-lite but with sharks.

So I just saw the trailer on TV that shows it is a PG-13 movie (Just like Apollo 18). I posted in the annoying thread about how much I hate the move to PG-13 (I did like Insidious). This had planned on seeing this in theaters, but will pass now. I cannot stomach sitting next to annoying kids and trying to watch a movie. The thing I enjoyed most about Piranha was the over the top gore and nudity. I guess this will be missing from Shark Night as will most of the fun.

Little chance of that with a PG-13 rating- not sure if I want to check this one out or not

Generally I really like the freshness and visual energy that David Ellis brings to his films (Homeward Bound 2 was amazing! ;)) so I won't write this one off just yet, even if the PG-13 rating does seem troubling. He seemed to know how to handle his audience when it came to 3D with The Final Destination. It's been awhile since a good big budget shark attack movie too, so please, Gods, let this be good.

Re-watching the trailer just pissed me off me more. They even hint at the all the nudity you aren't going to see, like every fucking PG-13 film in the last 10 years, with girls taking off their shirts but only showing bare backs. Ohhh, bare back, that sexy and dirty! Then the gore will trimmed around at best, probably cut out completely. They can't swear so dialogue will suffer and be unrealistic...

PG-13 is the work of the devil himself, sent to turn what could be fun flicks into stupid unbearable ones, and this looks to be among the later. I'd be there opening night if this were rated R, now I'm waiting for library BD. What sucks even worse is I love shark movies, no matter how bad. I still spin Deep Blue Sea at least once a year!

The trailer looked promising, but the PG-13 pretty much kills it for me too.

It could work. I enjoyed Anaconda, for example, and that is a PG-13 creature feature.

Looks like dumb fun, I'm sold.

I agree, it might be much fun. I'm just not sure I want to pay 3D theater prices to watch it, more a rental for me probably.

This is exactly how I feel about the trailer. Given the subject matter, making this film PG13 is ridiculous. Talk about a great way to nuder a possibly fun movie.

This "movie" looks like it should be starring Debbie Gibson and Tiffany and the effects look about as amazing as watching a buddy of mine play video games. Will be skipping this one.

This film's existence has made me start hunting down old shark movies I may've missed, last night, Tintorera.

Ouch, I forget just how bad these films can be, but at least it was full of cute and naked girls including Susan George. Take that away and I would want the 2 hours of wasted life back, as is, I'm good wit it.:)

Looking for tonight's amusment. Dark Waters (2003) looks good and awful, but I can't find a download or watch it link that works, so it's looking like Mako: Jaws of Death. How in the fuck do I see Shark Attack 3: Megalodon called the 'worst shark movie ever' on at least 2 sites? Hello? Clyclone anybody? Tintorera has a claim, as does Jaws 3 and 4, or Raging Sharks, or dozens more. SA3 is fucking fun, guess that doesn't count on those sites.

I must admit that while Tintorera is horrible film, I did enjoy it to a certain degree. Maybe it is time to check out Cyclone finally.

Save your money. "Watered" down slog with worse than usual dialogue, a nonsensical plot, virtual absence of gore other than copious blood in the water and stock, unbelievable characters. Definitely a low point for Ellis, and I'm not even talking about the scene where the black guy chucks a spear at a hammerhead shark. Oh, and the 3D is arbitrary and uninspired, which is surprising since Ellis did such a good job with it on The Final Destination. This one proves more than ever that PG-13 horror is just a pandering piece of shit.

More like Shit Night 3D.

Even 90 minutes of Sara Paxton in a bikini can't save this one.

I'm gonna be in the minority here, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. It was no Piranha 3D, but it was the kind of dumb guilty-pleasure popcorn-flick that seem all too rare these days.

It is just goofy, fun teen-horror fare. Anyone who has enjoyed guilty pleasures like Anaconda, Into The Blue, or even the director's own Snakes On A Plane and Cellular might get a kick out of it. If you are hoping for the next Jaws, then you are probably not in this film's target audience.

The funniest part was that I didn't want to say it because I thought it was too corny. At least someone thought it was funny.

This was pretty terrible. It really had nothing other then bad CGI sharks and an annoying cast of teenage idiots. How this earned a theatrical run and wasn't just shown on the sci-fi network I don't know.

Oh my god, I want my $15.75 back for this! I just drove across town to the last theater playing this piece of shit just so I could see it in 3D. Huge waste. Here's a tip for filmmakers who want to make a shark movie: Have some fucking sharks in your movie! Christ, no one wants to watch extended scenes of stupid teens talking about their feelings when sharks are allegedly nearby waiting to eat them. Then again, the shitty sub-SyFy CGI was so bad maybe it was better to stay out of the water.

The PG-13 isn't the worst of the movie's problems. The acting is atrocious. The plot is ridiculous. Really? The sharks are being bred by rednecks to make "Vacancy"-style snuff films? Who one earth thought that was a good idea for a movie?

Even worse is the post-credits rap video made by the cast. As obnoxious as they are in the movie, their behind-the-scenes cockiness is even more appalling. I wish I could throw them all into an actual shark tank. :fire:

I hope that was at least 2 tickets if not 3. If only one, who is, and why are they, charging full price for second run movies? This disappeared from the theaters here within 2 weeks, maybe 1.

3D ticket prices are out of control. I'm sure the cost of bringing in the new projectors has been covered with 90% of films being 3d now, so bring the prices back down fuckers!

Sadly, it was just one ticket. I live in LA where the average ticket price is around $13 bucks to begin with then you add on another $3 for the 3D glasses. And I could have waited for it to hit second run theaters but I wasn't sure if the 3D version would make it to those and there aren't a lot in the LA area anyway. (I hate to even admit I paid another $9.75 for a soda and pretzel.)

I agree the 3D prices are out of control and the 3D in "Shark Night" wasn't even that impressive for all the press they did pointing out it was filmed in 3D and not post-converted. This one died so fast I should have just passed on it but I watched "Piranha 3D" again on cable the other night and I was hoping "Shark Night" might be at least partly as fun. Not. Even. Close.
