I’ll admit that I wasn’t that impressed with my first viewing a couple years back. The special features on this release have me interested in giving it another look. It’s odd that DVD Pacific doesn’t have any of Scorpion or Code Red’s 2012 releases up for pre-order yet. I’m not going to pay the $18 at Amazon so hopefully it show up soon.

One of my favorites but I'll probably stick with my Elite release and just wait for the inevitable Blu-ray down the line.

I have the last two releases, don't need a third until it's Blu Baby.

I have the second release, but I'm double-dipping for the interviews.

However, I hate upgrading a DVD to another DVD. Doesn't look like Scorpion is in the blu-ray market though. :(

Also got a dub of the Elite disc and own the 25th Ann. so I won't bother with this one, and won't bother with any other unless it's blu or a bunch of lost footage resurfaces. Definitly not buying interviews I might watch once if that.

never understood that tagline.""nothing can prepare for when she fights back"" makes like a revenge movie of some sort of rape victim...??

I will be shocked if this title ever gets a Blu-ray release. Look at the rate at which cult titles are being released on Blu-ray. The format will be dead before a title like this gets pressed onto a BD.

I've been doing some location sleuthing lately, and I think I've found the house from House On Sorority Row. The pool is gone.

I'll be covering it soon in my blog (http://t-location-scout.blogspot.com/).

Great blog man, thanks for sharing. I love reading about stuff like this, and have been to a few horror movie destinations through the years. I'll tweet this out to all our followers on Twitter.

I love the film, so I've had this on pre-order from a couple of months back. I too own both of the old DVD's, but this is to be a new transfer (unlike the disappointing previous Liberation DVD). Hopefully it's as big of a transfer upgrade as Scorpion's Final Exam transfer was.

So it looks like this includes everything from the Liberation release? I passed on that since I had the Elite release, but I may pick this one if so. The Elite disc only included a trailer I believe so as long as the transfer on this one is good I could sell off that release as well.

Will be buying. On a semi-related note, I'm getting annoyed with amazon.ca. They're getting slower and slower getting titles up for pre-order that are from smaller labels.

pre ordered the first time I saw 2 disc in the description , would be nice if it were to have a transfer like the elite disc(or better) , all the bonus from liberty and more. Love this movie

I pre-order this many moons ago.

I´m counting on an upgrade in the picture just like they did on Final Exam.

The movie was released twice by Elite, once by Liberation, and now this is the fourth time!!!

I have 2 VHS and 2 Elite discs plus a copy of the Liberation so unless its $12 or less I'll have to pass, though the special features are great

I use to rely on DVDTALK for good reviews, but they suck nowadays, they never review anything i like. I think they gave up on writing reviews for the katrina stuff.

Another review: http://10kbullets.com/reviews/h/house-on-sorority-row-the-katrinas-nightmare-theater/

This film has been release twice before on DVD and this new release from Scorpion Releasing that was sourced from a band new HD master is superior to those two aforementioned releases in every way.

Yay, finally!

Thanks - went ahead and pre-ordered a copy. :glasses: I had the Elite version but since the reviews have been glowing - I decided to upgrade.

Here's to hoping we don't get a blu-ray release in the next few months!

January 24th will be expensive. Between this and the other Scorpion/CR stuff coming out on the same day and the Redemption Jean Rollins I'm gonna go broke. Which, BTW, I don't mind since there's been a dry spell since mid-December.

I think the major limiting factor is what discs the reviewers are provided with to review. If scorpion doesn't send them discs to review, then they won't be reviewed here at all, at least as far as i understand it.

I watched the Liberation disc the other night and thought it looked pretty damn good - couldn't even tell it was interlaced on my 50" Panny Plasma. The only complaint I had, and a mild one if anything, was the audio during the party seemed weird with the music getting all loud and not balancing out properly when there was dialog in between. Oh man, that lead singer with his stupid-ass head/body movements

Anywho, I just can't see myself getting yet another standard DVD of this considering it seems inevitable a Blu is on the horizon.

Got my copy yesterday - looks good. Not necessarily better than the Liberation or even the Elite versions, but the print was in good shape and looked a bit sharper. I noticed on the back cover there's a logo for "Camelot Entertainment" . I tried to do a search on imdb to look for other titles from them that might be forthcoming but found only one title listed. I thought they were supposed to have acquired the Film Ventures/Liberation catalogs?

Right, but this title seems to get passed around like a doobie so it just has me thinking the odds of someone picking it up for a Blu eventually is quite possible.

Speaking of Liberation, the label apparently owns all or part of the old Film Ventures catalog as well as a handful of other cool 80's titles, including ONE DARK NIGHT, JOYSTICKS and, most interestingly, WITHOUT WARNING! Scorpion has obviously licensed a number of films from that library, like HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW and the upcoming INCUBUS so I'm wondering if any of the other films may be forthcoming. There have been rumors for years about Without Warning coming to DVD...if Scorpion's got this it would be a huge coup for them. I wouldn't mind a cleaned-up version of ONE DARK NIGHT either.

I did some comparisons between the old Elite DVD and the new Scorpion DVD. These are as close as the exact frames as I could get.

I also have the Liberation DVD, but that is the most inferior transfer being basically recycled from the Elite DVD but interlaced and with digital color tinkering...so I didn't even bother with it.

The top screenshots are from the old Elite DVD, The bottom ones are from the new Scorpion DVD:

As you can see, there's more visible frame information on the Scorpion release. The colors also look more natural.

Not much to say about this one except every slasher fan should own this DVD. Great flick, great transfer, and an all around great presentation. Congrats to Scorpion on the excellent work.
