I need your help. Is there a DVD in existance that contains the correct theatrical audio throughout? I read that Arrow was to have corrected Anchor Bay's alterations, but only some of the corrections were made. Thanks for any help you can provide me with guys.

There is no DVD minus the original AB release, the original audio is on the Blu Ray though. It's on the original mono option.

Oh okay. Any chance a DTS 5.1 Track exists with the original audio?

Isn't that a contradiction? If you want the original audio then it ain't going to be 5.1, plain and simple.

The audio was changed in several spots to minimize swearing among other things in the Divimax DVD/Blu-ray. I believe that this was an error (they used the television version) when mastering their DTS mix. I was wondering if anyone knew of another company that released a DTS mix without these audio alterations. The reason I ask is because a friend of mine is going to fix it (like he did with Return of the Living Dead) on Blu-ray.

The first Anchor Bay DVD from 1998 had the original audio but it is 2.0.

Yeah, we have that thanks. I guess now he is just trying to find a 5.1 without all of those bizarre changes. The guy is a genius when it comes to editing. I know that this all sounds pretty silly to most of you for me to even want this, but I hold the original Dead trilogy in high regard, and I want the best version possible.

Hope your friend can do 5.1 audio mastering then, cause the mono's the only way to get it.

I was told the Arrow Blu Ray restored most of the original audio for their 5.1 mix, but there were still some differences.

There really is the 2.0 option on the original DVD and Blu Ray to get the full original mix. From what I recall it was a pretty lively track even being 2.0, didn't seem flat to me.

Thanks Chrismac. That may work.

Come to think of it, Day was aired on Monsters HD, and I did capture it on my DVD Recorder, however it only records audio in analog Pro Logic. I can check it & see if it has the original audio if you'd like.

Does anyone have the Arrow UK Special Edition 2 Disc DVD Set? supposedly this has the uncensored 5.1 audio on it, but sure would like to verify before I try to track down a copy, because we all thought the Arrow BD was uncensored and we found out it is not.

Thanks

OK, never mind the above question, it seems I can't find anyone with this DVD lol, but I think I have it all fixed now anyways, I am working on the gunshot surround channels now, once they are done it is finished, I will encode a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 track for the US Blu-ray(since it has the better PQ).

Thanks

I have the dvd and seem to remember it had an unaltered audio track, but I have the bluray as well so maybe it was from that. but I can't remember what scenes were missing audio cues.

Here are the errors,

*0:09:15 - "It's crazy" provided by a different voice
*0:09:35 - "Shit" to "Right"
*0:58:48 - Gunshot is partially missing
*1:01:33 - "It's the Spic" provided by a different voice
*1:11:20 - "Oh, Jesus" to "I can't look"
*1:20:30 - "Jesus" to "Stuck"

if you have that DVD could you see if the 5.1 track on it is uncensored? the Arrow BD was supposed to but it only had half of these errors fixed.

the final audio will be a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 track in synch with the US Blu-ray of Day of The Dead.

Only a year late, but I just got this blu-ray in the mail today. It has the unaltered audio in 5.1 DTS HD. To my knowledge, it's the only one. It may be a moot point with Shout! Releasing their blu-ray in the fall. I probably wouldn't have bought the Happinet Blu-ray of Day had I known about this. Oh well. I also bought the Dawn blu to go along with my Night blu (all Austrailian blu's were released from a company called Umbrella).
