Circa '85 I was sleeping over at a friends house who had a tv and cable in their room. We were flipping back and forth between the movie channels and Turkey TV on Nickelodeon.

One of the movies had a scene that has stuck with me, but I can't seem to figure it out. Hell, I don't even know if it's technically horror and I have very little to go on. What I remember is a night scene with a man raping(?) a woman. The man is attacked by dogs. From what I think I remember is a it's in the woods near a bus. I believe the woman makes her way to the bus for shelter.

I know it's not much to go on and I've come up empty. I thought it may have been White Dog based upon a synopsis, but no dice.

Any thoughts?

No bus, but could be Humongous?

I don't think I've seen that, so I'll throw it on the watchlist to see if it's the one. Thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe, The Final Terror?

Maybe After Midnight... That has a segment with girls and dogs.

I had just seen the poster for The Final Terror last night. I'll try to find that one too.

I've seen After Midnight and it's not the one... sadly. At the latest, the movie I'm seeking would have to be 1986 or before.

Thanks for the suggestions!

That was my first guess too. Except for the bus part, it fits perfectly.

Not a horror film but a guy is savaged to death by dogs near a bus in the drama THE GREAT SANTINI.

There's a bus but no dogs in The Final Terror.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll move Humongous up on the list and add The Great Santini.

Maybrick, I've always thought it could be the Pack, but found no mention of the type of scene I saw. I guess I'll move it up anyway just to make sure.

Walking Dude, Thanks for that. I still want to see The Final Terror, but I'll make it less of a priority.

Thanks again, everyone!

Was thinking that movie too. But haven't seen it in a long time.

It came out 1977 , and it has a yellow truck in the movie. It's not a bus, but could kinda look like that because it was one of those extended cab truck sorta thing. So maybe that's what you saw.

But I don't remember any rape in that movie.

And there was a scene with a woman taking cover in a yellow VW while the dogs were attacking around the car. That seen was in daylight, not at night.

But Humongous (1982) does have a rape scene, but absolutely no bus.

In that film the woman is attacked by the man who chases her into the woods then rapes her. Her own dog (pretty sure it was specifically a German Shep)comes to save her and mauls the guy. It wasn't a bunch of dogs. Then she kills the guy off by bashing him in the head with a large rock or something. This all happens right in the beginning of the movie, before even the credits.

So if that's what you saw, then that's your movie thehellyousay.

I've got Humongous on the way, so I'll know soon enough if that's the one. I could be just mixing up the bus thing with something else that night (or just remembering wrong).

Glad to hear the scene in Humongous is at the beginning!

I'll post back if it's the one.

Thanks again!

There is a pack of dogs (caged), but you are correct in saying that the post rape scene dog mauling is done by a single Shepherd.

I know Humongous cops a lot of flack, but that scene is really well done, effects and dog training wise.

Yes that's right, I forgot about the caged dogs(the one she was near at the party). Then they kept cutting back to cage of dogs barking or something. Good pick up.

DING, DING, DING! Humongous is the winner. I've only watched the opening so far, but that is definitely the scene I was thinking of. That guys sweaty face sealed the deal.

I'm guessing the multiple dogs I remembered were the ones caged, but the way the camera shifts around during the attack doesn't help much in the way of keeping how many are actually involved.

Startide, you are 100% correct with the effectiveness of that scene. Hell, I remembered it after 25 years!

Thanks to everyone who took a guess!

Assuming you bought the dvd. How is the quality of the transfer? Cause I remember the movie being very dark at times, was wondering how clear it is on dvd.

Bags - it's much better than the VHS. It's not as crisp in spots as we may like it to be (almost like it's zoomed causing pixelation - especially during the boat scene when everyone is hanging out inside it before the wreck), but you can actually see what's going on now. Well worth the purchase.

HellYouSay - where were you getting the school bus scene from? I bet you cross referenced Final Terror.

Thanks, I was wishing for a better transfer & it sounds like it's an improvement. Probably pick it up now.

I wonder if he got the school bus thing from Nickelodeon. He did say he was switching channels around during watching Turkey TV.

 You can't Do That on Television with all the kids getting off the bus dancing like idiots.

Mutilated, I'm guessing it was just a mixed up memory. Either something we were flipping through that night or something I jumbled up from another memory. I'll still hunt down Final Terror to check it out.

Baggio, I still haven't gotten past that scene yet, but that one does look pretty good.

Well, I may have to wait on The Final Terror. Cheapest is 27 bucks on Amazon. I'm not ready to drop that on a blind buy.

To be perfectly honest you're better off just buying the VHS - the DVD is a poor VHS port.

You can also get it under it's alternate title - Carnivore which also is a VHS rip..

Here's a cheap auction...

If you have an FYE near, check the bargain DVD section for Final Terror. When I ran my store we had tons of them, the same one that's "selling" on Amazon for $26 used and $50+ new. Back then I think they were $7.99. In fact we had a ton of the crappy DVDs that company (905 Entertainment) distributed... Poor Pretty Eddie, Bog, Warrior of the Lost World, etc..
