Thanks for covering this series guys, some fun reads! You are braver then I haha as I gave up after part 3, which I found to be terribly boring. The first two are a blast though, obviously for their own reasons.

Outside of maybe Hellraiser, no other franchise, in my opinion, took such a nose dive into utter shit. Children of the Corn doesn't count either, cause that franchise started out lame.

Its hard to name movies much worse the Howling VII New Moon Rising - OMG that was on Cinemax or Encore one night and I had to turn the channel - It seemed like a bunch of country folk just hanging out at a bar talking - blah

Amityville Horror? Puppet Master?

Amityville Horror? Puppet Master?

All worthy examples, but for me, the first Hellraiser was so good, to see how shameful the series went (especially after 3) it almost makes me wanna cry. I just don't hold the first Amityville or Puppet Master in nearly the same reguard.

Oh I have another one, Leprechaun, Leprechaun Back 2 The Hood was almost on Howling 7 levels.

Hey, there are some good Amityville sequels out there. I'd rank a bunch of them above the original. Definitely doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation.

We haven't given up on finishing this...New Moon Rising is just so bad that we need more time to get through it.

You're a braver man than I. I got about 5 minutes of New Moon before I had to quit. Never again...

I have the first two HOWLING books - I loved them even though so different from the 1981 film.
I loved his book "WALKERS" even more which was also turned into a TV movie. I always found his writing very easy to read.

Children of the Corn did not start out lame. The first is a classic and the rest are crap. So it does count. Poltergeist? Jaws? Nightmare? Halloween?

Actually, I think you'll find more than a little disagreement on that score around here. Personally I thought parts 3 and 4 were really quite good.

New Moon Rising is the only Howling movie I haven't seen and I don't care if I ever do.

As for Children of the Corn I'm a fan of 2-5. The rest I don't like.

Howling 2 and 5 are my favorite of the series. I mean really, what's not to love about 2?

This man speaks the truth. Fields of Terror is fun enough also.
