Hey guys...
I just wanted to see what you guys thought were the Best and Worst "dummy" bodies used in a movie....
I have to say some of the best bodies i have seen were in Bad Taste....i was very pleased with them....
The worst, as much as it hurts to admit it, i think the worst dummy body was johnny's body when he hits the grave stone....
Thanks,
Matt

The one at the end of "Don't Torture a Duckling" is pretty horrid!!

THEE worst was Johnny falling on that tombstone in the remake of NOTLD! Everyone that comes to my crib & sees that scene laughs!!!

Hey...
That's a shame too -- because savini said he took a lot of time to make that dummy realistic.... But jeeze - at least just show the back of the head, or make the shot half as long...
Oh well, everything else in the movie is 100% astounding...so i guess i can justify it...
Thanks,
Matt

The dummy in DAWN OF THE DEAD! The one that Ken Foree (Peter) throws over the side of the mall rails!!!! OH MAN! That was bad.
You know which one I'm talkn about? He picks up a zombie and throws it over the side and into the fountain/water?! You can totally tell it's a dummy!!!!!!

At last something I can beat you all at ( I think?)
The worst dummy ever, just take a look and I think you'll agree, was in Return of the Living Dead III, early on a character is thrown from a high bridge into a river (or suchlike) at night and you see the body fall into the water, it's windy and the body flaps about like a plastic bag, but worst of all you can clearly see a piece of string attched to it, it's bleeding shocking and purely down to lack of effort, the exact opposite of the effects in Bad Taste.

The dummy (head) they used for Rose McGowan in Scream (garage scene), wasn't very convincing.

The spiders in The Beyond were pretty laughable. Ok, I'm coming to get you "dump-dump da dah"......(imitates the marching ants in the Looney Toons cartoon)!!!

Im sorry but i believe i can beat you all on this one!
The worst without a doubt was in `Guts of a Beauty` when the nurse throws herself off of the building, if you look closely you will probably notice that its in fact a watermelon that hits the ground and not even a dummy!!! lol , this always leaves me laughing :p

I don't know about the worst dummy, but I feel the worst need of a dummy was in in 'The Phantom of the Opera (1925)'. At the end of the film the mob lefts up the phantom over their heads and throws him out in the water. I just never saw the point in using a dummy in the scene since it didn't look at all like a dangerous stunt . They probably couldn't get Chaney for the stunt, but still they could of used a double.

Yea...
I'd also have to say that it bugs me when a dummy is used when it seems unnecessary, ESPECIALLY when all that is happening is that the "body" is being carried or moved...

THe dummy in "Zombi Holocaust" is pretty terrible, but I'd have to go with the dummy in the beggining of "The Psychic" as the worst one. It's the same effect used at the end of "Don't Torture a Duckling" only the dummy looks even less realistic.

the worst dummy i've seen is of the black guy who gets his head blown off in Dawn of the Dead. if you freeze frame it right before the explosion, you'll see the shitty looking dummy ever!! lol

I agree with the first few, the worst one -Ive- ever seen was the one in the NOTLD remake falling on the tombstone, just horrible.

It's been more than ten years since I've seen it, but I remember "I Dismember Mama" getting lots of laughs between me and some friends. The killer at the end is thrown out the window and lands on the pavement. When the actor takes the dummies place on the pavement, he's not even close to being in the same position that the dummy was. Also, I may not be recalling this accurately, it's been so long, but I could swear that one of the arms actually detached from it's body on contact!

I think the worst dummy body was in Meet the Feebles when Bletch falls from the balcony after being shot by Heidi. That looked so fake:p

While watching Lost Highway on LD once I pushed the multi-speed-step mode button (on the CAV side) when Mr. Eddy gets shot between the eyes and there it was -only for a split second- a really creepy, weird looking fake head they used which had absolutely no resemblance with Robert Loggia/Mr. Eddy at all.
The strange thing about this is that you'll never notice it until you watch it in the slow mow/step/pause mode...

Hey guys...
How could i have forgotten - the most effective dummy i have ever seen is in Lord Of Illusions -- when the dude falls out of the window in the apartment/hotel. Granted he is covered by a curtain, but that it what makes it sooo effective.... Agree?
Also, someone said that the head explosion dummy looked fake when you freeze the frame in DOTD, well, any dummy will look cheesy when you freeze the frame, the effectiveness, many times, comes from the editing...and in this case, (dotd) it looked great.....
Thanks,
Matt

Has anyone seen the Italian horror film City of the Walking Dead, a horrible film, and to top it off has one of the worst falling dummy scenes ever captured on celluloid.

Ouch, I love Nightmare City but I do agree that the falling dummy scene is laughable.

There are too many bad dummy scenes to recall...
But the best and most realistic dummy drop I have ever seen was in the Japanese movie Kairo (Circuit, AKA Pulse). A woman jumps from the top of an industrial plant of some kind and the camera doesn't cut from the time she appears at the edge until she hits the ground. When I got the DVD I watched that scene again in slow motion and I guess they did some morphing transition between the woman and the dummy but it is nearly seemless. Amazing.

I actually quite enjoy it too, but I do think it is a bad film. One of those its so bad its good movies. The ending is classic.

I think it's pretty funny that the dummy in the beginning of the remake of NOTLD wins so many votes, because one of the best has to be the Zombie that Tony Todd runs over with his car early in the movie (before it gets dark). I always thought that one ruled.
As for worst I'll throw down for the dude in Zombie Holocaust with the flying arm, horrible. Another great one was when Klaus Kinsky (as Renfield) jumps from the castle in Jess Franco's Count Dracula. That one was pretty bad.

Has everyone forgotten about "Nightmare City" when the women falls from the rope ladder and hits the the metal bar at the end of the movie...too bad the end of the movie was worst.
Don't Torture A Ducklin with the presit hitting his head was pretty bad, but you would expect that from Fulci.

There are a couple of very rough bodies in Demons. A fairly quick shot of Bruce kicking a dummy of Haan's head in Enter The Dragon. A cool one in Phantom Of The Paradise - during Beef's stage-show.
The girl dummy in Dawn Of The Dead - where Tom Savini takes her head off - is pretty bad.
I don't think the dummy is bad in Night Of The Living Dead - but the way it's edited sucks.
