I'm so happy that I bought a DVD player this summer, so that I can get hold of some of my old favorites on DVD to replace my worn out VHS copies, and also discover "new" Hammer gems!
My current Hammer DVDs are:
Rasputin the Mad Monk
Dracula - Prince of Darkness
Scars of Dracula (2 Disc Limited Edition)
The Satanic Rites of Dracula
The Mummy
Frankenstein Created Woman
The Devil Rides Out
I also have the following in my DV-Depot flexi-cart, to be ordered soon:
The Hound of the Baskervilles
Plague of the Zombies
Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires
Hammer House of Horror
Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde
The Abominable Snowman
Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (2 Disc Limited Edition)
I'm contemplating buying, but probably won't buy unless I get a significant raise ;) :
Lust for a Vampire
Horror of Frankenstein
I don't think I'll bother buying the following, due to lack of Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing involvement and bad reviews at HorrorDVDs:
The Mummy's Shroud
The Reptile
If I've missed out on any must-buy titles, please let me know! (I'm not a sucker for sci-fi, so I think I'll pass on the Quatermass titles.)
BTW, I purchased Rasputin and Frankenstein Created Woman just recently (in the last couple of months). Do I need to fear that they'll deteriorate, or is this problem fixed in the current pressings (which I assume are the ones I've got)?
