Lotsa good ones, but I chose that blasphemous sequel to the 1974 classic :p

BTW, I'm fairly certain DEMONS is '85. Perhaps you meant to put down the sequel???

Damn, the 80's were awesome. If you were to do polls of the last 5 years you'd probably only be able to do "Worst of's". :(

I voted for Michael Mann's Manhunter. I love his movies and this is one of his best. Gritty and stylish, just like Miami Vice, and IMO a whole lot better than the other Lecter films. I am interested to see how Red Dragon is, because there is a lot of talent behind it.

My second choice would be the campy Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.

The masterpiece that is The Hitcher is one of my top 3 favorite films of all time, so of course I voted for it. The Fly comes in second place, and Night of the Creeps comes in third.

Ain't that the truth, bro. Horror's in sad shape these days.
I voted for Henry, the MPAA's favorite movie of '86.:D

"The Hitcher" is great, but TCM 2 got my vote. Brilliant movie, excellent cast.

I voted for Gothic, an obscure but interesting little film. Aliens was good, but a sequel.

Aliens for me. Far far better than its predecessor and those that followed it.

April Fools Day. I don't really know why I'm going it the top slot, but it's getting my vote.

....not, IMHO, a superior movie to the original but a worthy successor.

My choice is F13th 6, the only one with actual campers. Plus, it had the guy from Summer Camp Nightmare (the guy who was driving the Winnebago).
Aliens is a close 2nd
By the way, is it just me or was Death Spa also released in 1986?
If it was then that is in 3rd place

I had no problem to vote here. "Dolls" beats all the others IMO.
I's a pity we can't buy this terrfic movie on DVD!
Other movies that I enjoyed were:
THE FLY
THE HITCHER
ANGUISH
APRIL FOOLS DAY (Fred Walton)
HOUSE

Aliens for me...wow! Another terrific year.

I realize there are six of those films I've never seen. Time to have a little retro night, I've already pre-ordered April Fool's Day .

My favorite is Friday the 13th Part VI.

I thought Deadly Friend was a little underrated, though. And the Little Shop of Horrors remake was very satisfying as well.

This was a really great year, wasn't it? When you think of great years in horror, '86 doesn't usually jump right to the front. But with movies like LSoH, The Fly, Henry: PoaSK, Aliens, House, Friday the 13th Part VI, etc, it's better than I might remember it.

Aliens is not really a horror well not anymore than Army of Darkness is, but whatever.

I went with From Beyond.

Across virtually every genre, 1986 was a great year for cinema. :) My favorite would be Aliens. The Hitcher, Night of the Creeps, Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2, and The Fly are all worthy contenders.

ooo, tough one. I went with Friday the 13th Part 6, not necessarilly because it was better, but because it was the return of Jason. Aliens, April Fools Day, Night of the Creeps, TCM 2 and From Beyond were great flicks as well.

My birth year had a pretty good line-up. I have to vote from Cronenberg's The Fly. Amazing film.

1986 generally looks weak. Went with HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER - because it had some balls.

Aliens. A few other good titles on there, but nothing really in the same league as Aliens.

Even though I prefer the original, I just had to vote for ALIENS. Other greats from this year: Manhunter, Dolls, FRIDAY THE 13TH 6 and I used to really love House and POLTERGEIST 2.

Ehh, I picked "Henry." I think '86 is where 80s horror cinema started sliding.

You left out "Maximum Overdrive" and "Trick or Treat." Metal-themed horror!
