When will SOMEONE release "Near Dark", the ultra violent vampire flick staring Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, and my favorite bad girl Janette Goldstein (AKA Diamondback in Near Dark and Gunner Private Vasquez in Aliens)? WHEN WHEN WHEN!!!?
I can't believe there is no interest in this quite over looked 1987 film. It's not on DVD, and not even on VHS!

I second your sentiments. Near Dark is a modern classic - it deeply deserves an Anchor Bay release (or a S.E. from another reliable source). "Finger licking good!" :D

She's also the step-mom in T2. :D
I loved Near Dark. I don't mind waiting if they do it right.

Erm,
It is coming...(but some US friends might not want to hear...) in a lovely DVD edition in Europe. (how do I know, well, we've been supplying some stuff for it...and some other cool forthcoming DVD releases)
Stay tuned,

How about Miracle Mile, another cool HBO flick? You know anything about this one Al?

I still watch my LD of Near Dark every now and then. It's a very cool film. Bigelow is a great director. I love POINT BREAK, STRANGE DAYS and the episodes she directed of HOMICIDE:LIFE ON THE STREET. She's great.

And she brought tears to my eyes in the only truly moving moment (for me, anyway) in Titanic. Blink, though, and you'll miss her.
She was also one of the doomed cops in Lethal Weapon 2. Watch that springboard....

Blue Steel is another good one from Bigelow.
(Not even Ron Silver's overdone performance could hinder this entertaining film.)
I would like to see her team up with Eric Red again (If that's possible.) and make another horror film.
Near Dark's a modern horror classic that deserves to be seen on DVD.
