View Full Version : Help, Don't Know The Title!!!

I'm wondering what the title of this movie is (I saw it at the drive in back in the 70's when I was a kid and can't remember it for the life of me):
I starts with a naked woman hung from chains in a room whose walls are made of stainless steel. A guy comes in and blasts her with a flamethrower.
The killer works in a steel mill. It turns out that he kills women the way he does because his mother would hold his hand over a hot burner on the stove whenever he was bad. I also seem to remember that he kept his mother's corpse at home.

Is "Don't go in the House" any good? Is it worth seeing at all?

Sorry, I shouldn't have been so brief. I like Don't Go In The House. It is certainly worth viewing but isn't for everyone. It's about a Norman Bates style momma's boy who's an adult but still lives with his mother and follows her every demand. He comes home from work to find her dead...he's upset at first but then realizes he can now do anything he wants (like play lps of cheesy disco music and jump on furniture ). The story goes on to show him taking out his anger on women for the abuse he was exposed to as a child, including having his hand burnt by a stove. He becomes obsessed and starts missing alot of time from work to build a sheetmetal room in the house to burn female victims alive. The footage of the women being burned is actually pretty realistic especially since the budget is so obviously low. The story is overall pretty pathetic but it does have some 70's style charm and some gratuitous T&A.
Now,while the movie is worth viewing the current dvd (by dvd ltd.) isn't. The transfer appears to be a direct port from the old vhs release. Also there is no menu and I believe 3 chapter stops. But,unlike the old vhs atleast the dvd is still available so it may be the only way for some people to see the movie.
Back several years ago there was a company who were preparing a special edition laserdisc of this film but it never got released. The primary reason I think it didn't was the ld's project was too near the fall of the format. I've been keeping my eyes open to see if maybe we'll see the S.E. get a dvd release instead but no luck so far.
